Most people don't know this, but RAA isn't from Edmonton at all. Not even Alberta. They are based out of Toronto. BUT! The singer, Nils lived during the Tornado of '87 in Edmonton and that's what this song is about

I think that this song is about the worst natural disaster that has ever happened in Canada's history in 1987 in Edmonton. I wasn't even born but my dad said it was pretty big. it caused 27 deaths and $586 Million dollars in damage

Could I ask you to explain what,exactly, "painfully Canadian" is supposed to mean? Aside from being one of the best places to live in the entire world, Canada produces a boatload of really good music. Hawksley Workman, The Tragically Hip, Matt Good, The Arcade Fire. All "painfully Canadian"?  Considering all the musical detritus floating around out there, its really sad that you pick a talented band like this to come down on.
