spotting a compulsive liar takes time... what Dr Artbowler (however spelt) is saying if I may paraphrase is that it takes time to spot a liar so take your time with people in getting to know them and give a reasonable distance before getting in too deep with them... I notice that people that lie often want you to dive in deep in with there lies... they want you to enthusiastically nod your head at what they are saying... they are looking for appraisal for their lies to come off more convincingly

my ex husband always coughed before lying and also would stick the tip of his tongue out. Took me forever to put it together but I did and I hit the nail on the head and his games were over. Until he actually stopped couging and sticking his tongue out because I told him he did that when he lied. Well, after that he lied with no signs. Nothing. Still the same old lies though. One of my best friends is a compulsive liar. Everybody knows that she's a liar still she's amazingly convincing at times. She very often lies about things that are completely pointless to lie about. Some of the things she tells us even puts her in a bad light, like really embarrassing stuff most people would keep private. It seems like the attention is more important for her than lack of embarrassment, really weird.
She's otherwise nice and funny so its hard to just keep her away.

One of my best friends is a compulsive liar. Everybody knows that she's a liar still she's amazingly convincing at times. She very often lies about things that are completely pointless to lie about. Some of the things she tells us even puts her in a bad light, like really embarrassing stuff most people would keep private. It seems like the attention is more important for her than lack of embarrassment, really weird.
She's otherwise nice and funny so its hard to just keep her away.
