  • horrible screen-shots but nice interview!

  • Actually what Matt has been saying has been said by many SEO professionals. It's all about the content, the uniqueness of your blog, and how do you promote the content. If you're site is compelling then it wouldn't be very hard to promote your stuff.

  • I'd rather believe SEO professionals than Matt. The reason is that Matt must not reveal details about what is more important to Google.

  • @aRichBastard Matt is a Google engineer, so he must be an SEO pro. Pro SEOs still follow Matt Cutt's tips.

  • @KoolitPnoi You didn't get my point. Yes, Matt is a pro, but what make you believe that he don't hide something? He explains the way HE wants Google to operate. Yes, the content is very important, but Matt will never say anything about some gray techniques which, unfortunately for him and Google, still work. His tips are not bad, but it is very hard to become a pro when listening to him, because you receive filtered information. Better read and watch Rand Fishkin, Danny Sullivan, etc.

  • @aRichBastard woah, don't tell me read and watch Rand Fishkin because I am a SEOmoz subscriber myself. Why would they tell you any grey hat technique, these are pros right here, tHe whitest of the whitehat seos, okay. So what they wanna promote is the good stuff, like what they always say, "you don't buy links, you earn them". See that means you have to work hard to earn the links that will push your site up in the rankings.

  • @aRichBastard I get your point, you want the easy way, there are grey hats and black hat techniques that you can use, but they are not guaranteed to put your site at the top and keep it there for many months or years. With proper on site SEO, and of course unique content (not just your post but the entire uniqueness of the site) then the only tough problem that you will face is how to market your website or article for that matter by the this is the hardest part of a pro SEOs job.

  • @KoolitPnoi Matt is a good helper, I just say that he shouldn't be the main source of information if you want to be really good at SEO.

Actually I thing the black optimization is good for novice (after reading the basics of SEO of course), because the black guys know where is the border between top10 and the sandbox. And they see results sooner which allows them to save time when investigating Google's algorytm. That's not laziness, that's efficiency - to get more benefits using less resources.

  • @aRichBastard I think you don't see the difference between black hat traffic and white hat traffic, black hat traffic is done with one thing in mind, quick traffic = quick money. But I agree that we obviously don't have the same mindset when it comes to SEO. You don't become a good black hat SEO if you don't understand how Google works, you must learn that first, and you start by becoming a white hat SEO first. I think that's the reason why newbies fail at ranking their sites.

  • @KoolitPnoi And one more thing: White hat + grey hat is the best possible combination in SEO, but only if you know how to use it. Yes, I could be banned, but that's the reason I experiment with grey and black techniques on "laboratory mice" - to understand how much of shit is too much to Google.

Obviously your attitude is different than mine, so it's pointless to dispute. Take care =)

  • @aRichBastard Matt has nothing to gain by deceiving you. Fact of the matter is he tries to give good advice without going into specifics. Why? Because ranking algorithms change all the time, so even if other people have techniques to rank higher, they will break as Google gets smarter and you'll lose in the long wrong. To state the obvious, having better content should mean that you are ranked higher, and that's what will eventually happen when Google becomes super smart. SEO will be useless.

  • This one of the great information of the matts from the google i like it very much

  • I agree with @korvix you have a point this really happening in business now a days. But as a webmaster if you are promoting something, make sure that your site is relevant to user's searches and also the site is suitable for search engine spider to crawl.

Link building is a great way to promote website without any hassle as long as you follow the rules of search engines.

  • google's end game is to rank non commercial sites at top

and to let commercial sites sit at bottom so they are forced to advertise :)

  • Matt you ROCK...

  • you're right matt. the very first and foremost thing that you must think is what the people is looking into, what they wanted, what are the newest trends etc, in that way, they'll be interested to your site far from those who advertise some crap.

  • Thanks

  • I thought Matt Cutts is someone else :p

  • Great interview Jeff. Matt Cutts really provides the right information compared to other gurus out there.

  • The reporter kept wagging that huge finger of his in front of Matt's face -- if I were in Matt place, that would have freaked me out and I'd have stepped back or told him to stop. I'm surprised no one's told the reporter to cut that stuff out, after all he's working for USA Today, not some tiny outfit.

  • love the guy but on the linkbuilding... the answer is no good.

  • Matt Cutts interviews are so valuable, it's good to hear some seo myths being squashed!

Older ranks higher even though it's often obsolete

More links rank higher - even though most are manufactured and spam

Small, honest and up to date fail on Google.

    Ergo... Google fails

  • My site has a pagerank 3 after started for 1 year while other older (4-5 years older) site only have pagerank 2. But when i looked at their content and mine....i discovered why.

  • Wonder-full video

Clearly explained how to get your website visibility on google.

  • Matt Cutts = Number One

  • @salvyy No Steve Jobbs is number 1.

  • sweetkisses you dont know what you are talking about.

Sure his a bit smug and rich, but he obv knows what goes for what.

If everybody applies the same SEO techniques to their websites, who is then gonna rank first?

    The answer:

You must have authority content, meaning your information must be of better value to your customer than your competitors' info.

  • How do you know what is of value? My theory goes back to sales - ie. finding a problem that has not been solved yet....?

  • a7bk ya 3y3y

  • Awords does work its just because you dont no how to use it, everything from title to desc needs to revolve around your keyword - you prob dont get any ROI because the keywords your pushing are not niche enough to your industry.

O and the info Matt Cutts is giving is excellent obv he isnt going to give all the secrets to google algorithms but he is saying keywords in title tag and good content revolving around your keywords, with content updates which is the blog.

  • I wonder how may keywords on 1 page are allowed or what percentage is the best balance.

  • "One day, we'll all work for Google"

  • Actually I just realised. If their index was SOOOO good, then genuine market leading companies wouldn't be calling me with "Hey we do everything right according to Google, but we're still not found help please." I almost prefer the yellow pages.

  • If you don't like the way Google does things, then don't use Google. You're free to use the Yellow Pages instead for your own search needs and you're free to focus your marketing efforts there.

  • what a shitfuck. He acts so damn smug with no respect to people who have businesses and their livelyhoods that depend on their bloody indexes. The way he nods, he acts as if he owns the world, and he doesn't realise how impossible it is to get ranked just by starting a blog! what a joke. Never gives any real advice.

  • what would you do if you were him ?

how would you act, would you give out every google's secret ?

thanks for sharing your thoughts ;)

  • lol bitter much? Try paying them...you get all the results you want. They are a business, too.

  • yes many kids now depending on their dads luck on the serps, but i can tell u theres ALWAYS a niche, a juicy keyword, and an oportunity, he says san diego quiropractic or sort, well thats not possible for a regular site

  • NERD ALERT!!!

  • Would love to find out more about googles' Sitelinks algorithem...

  • I LOVE GOOGLE!

  • His comment about google not favoring sites that have adwords campains running was total bullshit.

  • Trust me its true. I have wasted so much money on Adwords and my site never listed. I changed the site around a bit and have now started ranking. I DONT and DONT recommend using adwords unless you have HEAPS of money to throw away to get it right and even then you can still waste alot of money

  • I would to fight in fightclub with him

  • Great! Channel and I look forward more informative videos. Keep It up!

  • i now a much easier way of doing this just by typing.check my channel dont watch this junk

  • Go 2 COTTONMOUTHMOVIES

  • Impressive!

  • Matt Cutts is hot.

  • Its interesting to note that he did not say why some sites do stay in the sand box - I think matt Cutts talks shit! he is very good at diverting the conversation away from what the interviewing was asking!

  • nice one

  • THIS MAN IS REALLY PRO !!!

    BRAVO !!!

  • this looks like it was edited by children. Paint does have a text feature, you dont have to draw letters you know.

  • How happy does he look? Either Google does something to you, or he absolutely loves his job - I suspect it's the latter!

  • @MrHuddy working for a multimillionaire company and doing the job he studied for , god what else can you wish for.

  • @MrHuddy they make you rip a bong before every meal and meeting

  • @MrHuddy I've read before that Google is one of the happiest companies to work for. some publication like Psychology Today claimed this.

  • @MrHuddy He"s happy because he works for google and thay have hidden agenders thats why thay do so well.thay are blood suckers.

  • holy basic batman
