  • Why are so many people complaining about his playing or whatever its a goddamn FREE lesson.

  • he's a good teacher, knows his theory well

  • cool

  • Hey Dave,

Aside from the great lesson, I was really digging your playing on this video, do you have your music posted on line?

  • @TheWhiteSupremacy you should post a vid , it might help teach a few people some things. im trying to learn myself maybe you could help me ?

  • Dude i love ur jam at the end man, it helped me with some ideas for some of my own arpeggio solos as well as solos in general.

hmmm imthinkin i should maybe get a strat, i have a blue les paul standard right now. fun as hell to jam in

  • Just a strat, people. A good guitar, but extremely over-rated. STOP DROOLING!!!

    leave me alone!!!

  • Thanks! I'm posting this link on our facebook page :)

  • great teacher....not so much good player...wheres the felling?

  • You know a lot of theory but your playing is a bit rough, 7:09, 7:11, 7:21 etc. try taking all the effects off and practicing playing a bit cleaner, and don't pick every note.

  • The videos that you do yourself are definitely the best. You're an excellent teacher David. That Willbilly Mcgee guy is a good player, but he's so annoying. I seriously can't watch him.

  • great lesson.....

  • @skint0n0minted your full of shit

  • dude can you possible tell me the amp settings I would have to use to achieve that awesome sound? I have a peavey deuce thanks man rock on!

  • man i wish you could be my teacher! this is so good

  • Not everyone is Jimi Hendrix, or a genius like you :D

  • @skint0n0minted to get somewhere on guitar you´ll have to get through some basic necessary stuff that isn´t that ´cool´ or ´kick ass´ but is needed to progress further. Keep in mind that this vid is meant for beginners, not for, let´s say, Paul Gilbert. No offense. ;-)

  • sounds like matrix :P

  • His lessons r alwayz the best. Him and theodore ziraz got going wit my arpeggios. Do u have any lessons wit diminished and augmented arpeggios?

  • guitar people...most respect. for laffsand break from your practicing see my how to vids at my jnorris9726. i new and need hits.

  • really helped thanks

  • DT your awesome,

I got a question though, I'm 17 been playing for 7 years I mainly play rock/ alternative and such. I know my major and minor scales and know how to solo and I write songs and know them in every key.

I'm in a Guitar Rut I'm not sure what I should learn next. I can't really find anything either

Long story short. What else should I learn for soloing and writing songs for Rock or Alternative music

    Thanks,

    -Karem

  • I really love this arpeggio lesson!

Im gonna use this in my guitar playing.

    Thanks \m/

  • wtf is with the fucking routes 3rd 4ths ????

  • The root is the first note of the scale, the third is the third note of the scale. Guess what the fourth is.

  • did anyone notist that he other guitar

  • Nice lesson. Thanks!

  • That guitar is beautiful. :')

  • This just put some pieces together for me,

    thanks!

  • I don't think subscrition number have anything to do with skill.

  • I never said it did. But he was saying fred had more subscribers than these people. I just felt the need to tell him n_n

  • Comment removed

  • Fred has no talent

  • I don't get your point

  • Hello Good People!!! :-)))

  • next level guitar is fucking awesome! we love you!

  • freebird!!

  • Awesome!

I don't believe Fred's channel is more suscribed than this one.

    Rock on my friends!

  • Fred sucks.

  • Absolutely

  • Who's Fred?

  • Awesome lesson. But I like the distortion on at the end. Could anyone tell me what effects are on, if any?

  • Reverb is on, distortion obviously and possibly slight chorus but I doubt it

  • i thought it sounded a little Joe satriani-ish

  • appregios are the shit!! thank you !

  • I LOVE this teacher ! keep on

  • man they are releasing these arpeggio videos like crazy. i like this new maj. 7th one though, very jazzy

  • That's a nice looking strat you have there my friend!

  • Hi, Your are using 2 guitars for this lesson not just one as you said. Bideo editing is done excellent though. The speech remains constant. The other guitar is black? Nice lesson though.

  • The other guitar is his PRS that he has

  • Hi - I used the other guitar, a paul reed smith with a rosewood neck for more contrast when teaching the arpeggio up close - easier to see than the maple neck

    rock on!

    DT

  • can you show how yu pick it cause i got confused sorta

  • nice easy lesson to add some flavor to our playing....the jam at the end had a very Santana like feel to it..

  • wait, on the closeup the fretboard is rosewood........suddenly it becomes maple in all the other shots

  • Is is better to press my finger on the middle of the fret?

  • as close to the fret as possible.

  • thank you ^^

but why? does it sound better?

  • because close to the fret, you "pinch" the string to the fret and don't get buzz. If you press your finger away from the fret it allows the string to vibrate against the fret and you get a buzzing sound. Also, you'll be a little flat on the note.

  • okay, thanks for the explanation :}

  • Katterfelto is correct, you can get away with ur fingers not being super close to the fret though, soon you won't even think about it at all.

  • Finally someone who broke it down, thank you DT!!!^_^

  • i have mexi strat too! CHEERS

  • ROFL, it sounded like, "Hope Balls well" LOL

  • Did you switch out the pups in that Strat?

Or is it a different one?

I don't know man, you've got to many Strats. (Laughs)

  • Hi - the guitar I used in this lesson is a 1977 fender stratocaster and its all original. rock on!

    DT

  • And, as always, it's a great lesson.

  • Where is Tim? Haven't seen him in a while

  • The man with a 1000 strats.

  • I just picked up an American Strat Deluxe for about 1200. New. Got a great deal. It sound fantastic and has a few conveniences like locking tuners and a gliding nut.

  • youre a great player!

  • Nice guitar ! I like how in 2:48 the neck transforms into rosewood then at 4:12 it turns back to maple. LOL

  • haha nice

  • Haha, I didn't even notice at first :s

  • he changes from the strat to the PRS.

  • i think that it's really easy find a squier that sound better than a fender mexi

but the real fender strat is the american standard so if you want buy a strat wait until you get one american

  • You play so beautifully.

    Great lesson =)

  • Hey David I got and old Strat doing its best to fall apart (its very used). I'm looking for a good upgrade for around no more than $1000. I know that you know your guitars and was wondering if you had any suggestions.

  • Try a Mex Strat, you get a really good quality strat for not much money. A Squire Strat is even cheaper and some are very good but if you have $1000 to spend I would go for the mex strat. Not sure if David did a review on one but I'm sure he'd give it a thumbs up.

  • Mex strats with a little service (replace pickups) play and sound very well for the money.

  • Hey David, been taking lessons from you for about 6 months now, and you are the best teacher i have ever seen. I only hope to be as good as you one day...:)

  • Mister Dave , you have now plucked my heart LOL dude Randy taught me this when i wa a kid , didnt learn it then ,was to lazy lol. thank you!

  • it be so easyer if you just wrote the tabs down

  • It would be even easier if you just let other people learn the instrument for you.

  • Yeah I agree , I really like Dave and NextLevel , I like learning guitar here and Dave and al the team , I really appreciate these free lessons , I know thats cliche but I do and so does loads more people..Ive learned so much from you and if I hadnt of found your site , I wouldnt be half as good as I am now..Thanks bro...

  • Rock On Dave, I learn so much from you and your band ROCKS

    Rock On Bro

  • thanks for the help!MAN

  • Dude, is that an actual vintage 1970's strat? It's gorgeous.

  • Hi - the guitar I used in this lesson is a 1977 fender stratocaster

    take care and rock on!

    DT

  • THROW IT DOWN DAVID THROW IT DOWN!!
