  • hey wats ur username on ps3

  • Chainsaw - Activated

  • sounds like ur blue ray drive is loose gotta tighten it so it does not vibrate so much

  • well i think u need to go to a ps3 docter

  • Well its clearly obivous that your ps3 doesn't like Nicolas Cage movies.

  • MAN DON'T SOUND GOOD IS THAT ONLY WITH DVD OR WITH YOUR GAMES TOO?

  • dude ur the disk most be broken

  • i have this same damn problem with the loud noise when playing games or movies

  • sounds like an old computer when installing software from a CD ROM

  • dude but ur ps3 down... n see if tht works :)

  • PS3: I WANNA BECOME AN XBOX360!!!!!

  • Thats what a V12 sounds like.

  • yay ur australian

i noticed coz of the rating logo on the disk

  • ur ps3 is fucked

  • he was probably about to pop in a porn dvd.

  • @LeeMajorsComeAgain i typed that before he showed the dvd and i though he said i was about to watch a movie, noone to be precise

  • HA my XBOX360 use to do that !!

  • @TheMortalD because 360 SUCKS

  • my old ps3 used to do that, but for me it was just bad wiring with the fan.

  • I looked outside for a motorcycle. Lol.

  • its probably filled with alot of dust and its over heating

  • Hi there. what is the best. ps3 slim or the old version aka the "FAT" one??

  • @NorwegianBoy94 Fat......trust me i got both

  • @TheCloudsThunder okay thanks!

  • sure, it might have to crank up the RPMS a little to play a DVD but theres something wrong if its that loud

  • What do you think about the movie?

  • Well I would have freaked out like hell if I had put a game in there and the PS3 made sounds like that...

Once I put Left 4 Dead in my 360 and when the game started it made such terrible sounds, even louder than your PS3 here. I opened the DVD case as fast as possible and then I recognized I still had Burnout Paradise inside XDD

Luckily none of the two disks got injured ;)

  • btw this happened to me too when i tried to watch ''taken''

  • were did u get that foot to ur ps3?

  • Hi snupers,

The "foot" or stand was purchased from EB Games, I doubt it is still available though, with the PS3 Slim out and all, although, mabye they don't discountinue accessorys just because a new system is out, I can't tell you for sure.

    DaTechGuru

  • okay let me get this straight u guys think slim is bad it's good u guys said the same thing about the ps2 slim get over that the slim is good but i have to agree with facelesstdt the ps3 60 gb never really played dvd's that good on the other hand ps3 slim ps3 fat 80 gb and 160 gb play dvds really good so pick one of thous up and that high pitch sound you her is just the laser reading the disc most of the time it douse that on data disc because there's more information to be read on data disc's

  • Hi RyanWeb18,

The PS3 Slim is a fantastic system from my prespective and I would like proof that it is not a worthy system by other members of YouTube, you are correct on your statement of the PS3 Slim. Also, this does not happen with Data Discs, it is not the sound of the laser nor the motor attached to the laser, it has to do with resonances either within the drive or the PS3 System itself, whether it be plastic casing flucuating at a high frequency.

  • theres a few things with this. one. i agree with cooldood110, if you stand up any game console it makes it harder to get the hot air flowing out of the case, plus kills the shits life spand. two. its a 60GB PS3, its becoming out dated and they have a shit load of load time errors and hard ware failures. three. playing DVDs in a game system kills it quick anyways, no matter if it comes built in with it, you systems life spand cuts in half when dvd are used regularly. get a new PS3, not the slims

  • Hi facelesstdt,

There has never been any proper evidence about whether or not the PS3s lifespan is shortened by playing DVDs or Blu-Ray movies. Yes, they are constantly being accessed by the PS3, but as for your opinion on more airflow when the PS3 is layed horizontally it does not get better air flow, remember, heat rises, and half of the top vents expel air, being laid on its side would mean, air would go through the bottom half and taken in by the top half.

    DaTechGuru

  • well i mean, have you ever opened a PS3, the heat sink, and CPU of the PS3 would be sitting down, making the heat rise straight to the fan, and out the back, and its would be level, so there wouldent be any problems with it, but on its side, one its not really a good thing to set systems up right anyways. air can seep threw and make more heat in the system.

also the PS3 was built in my eyes as a blueray player before gamesystem, so dvd problem is out, i tihnk the games will kill it first

  • Hi facelesstdt,

I have never personally opened a PS3 system but have studied and watched countless videos to know how its cooling system works, great pointer though. Yes, air would directly rise into the fan from the CPU and GPU, and easily be scoped up from the multiple fins the fan consists of, but if the system is vertical that same air would still go into the fan as the fan is creating a pulling force, but excess heat the fan does not pull in will rise to the top vent and out...

  • Imagine it being horizontal, no air would essentially be left over as the air rises directly into the fan. My main point is, once that air is expelled, the bottom vent on the right side (looking at the front of the PS3) will be expelled quite slowly as most can already notice and pulled back into the system as the air rises up into the vent above it, placed against the Blu-Ray drive. They have changed this flaw in the later versions of the original PS3s, the side vents only do one thing...

  • I can't quite remember wether they pull in fresh air or expell hot air, but both vents only do one thing, meaning a horizontal position would be better then a vertical one, proving your theory correct, but I still have faith in my original conclusion. Although, you brought up fantastic facts that almost had me change my side of the story, overall conclusion, in my opinion, the PS3 60GB is better in the vertical position, and the other models are better in the horizontal position.

    DaTechGuru

  • well if you open a PS3 there is only one fan, and its pretty much takes up the bottom of the PS3. giving that most of the air will go out od the PS3, if its sitting up, heat will generat off the CPU and go up, and warm up the mother board above it, and make everything a little hotter for the system, but if it was sitting down it would just go up, warming the edges of the PS3 mother board and go straight out, with out waming the hole top part of the PS3, theres only one fan in it, its big,

  • but its not very good, i mean there are holes at the top of the PS3 if you stand it up, but if you do that your heating up the motherboard, and thats a good chunk of mother board left to warm up, also its off set from the disck trey, and the heat sinks are pretty much doo doo in the PS3, thats why theres a shit load of problems with them, i mean i cant hate the PS3 i own one, haha, but nothing much has been re-done either on the PS3 sence the 20GB and 60GB, the slims got worse and the 80GB

  • and 160GB are running strong still for people.

the ps3 is getting better i agree to what your saying, but think of the heat generating from the CPU and GPU standing up, it will go up the mother board, instead of going straight up into the fan.

  • I have taken everything you said into consideration, you continue to bring up great facts. I can imagine the heat seeping through, but you don't think the fan would be enough to pull the air into its fins and out the back and top? I know the PS3 has one enormous fan, but that one fan is in quite a complex heatsink, that has certain parts blocked off to force air through certain vents. I don't feel the PS3 has any probems with its cooling design, it is very compact and practical.

    DaTechGuru

  • i mean, i agree, and yes the air system now is good. but the hole point is that this is the 60GB model, that things had more bugs then the earth its self.

im not gonns sit here and tell you your wrong, cuz you make amazing points, and its good to know at least one person on youtube that knows what here talking about, i just think the the PS3 should be better disgned other then the PS3 slim, cuz thats not even worth talking about, that thing is a piece of doo doo.

  • We can only assume the 60GB PS3 has problems considering how many are failing as of now, thankfully mine is still working to this day. Almost 3 years old now. The main problem with gaming consoles is they need to be pracitical, if the PS3s hardware, looking at the Cell/BE inparticular was in a gaming-pc, it would have a huge case, plenty of fans and great air flow, this is both expensive and unattractive to the majority (not me though) and consumes more power.

    DaTechGuru

  • i still dont think the PS3 needs the Cell CPU, thats not needed in a game system, all together the PS3 now is amazing, but the the thing you have over me on your PS3 is BC, i dont have that cuz sony bull shits when it comes to that.

  • facelesstdt,

I agree with you that the Cell is not necessary but it has proven to be worth the investment for "us", not game developers and Sony's pocket if you get what I mean. As for BC, Sony's excuse that no one wants it, is false. It will not cost them much and get positive results not negative. My theory is, if the PS3 was backward compitable, there would be no need for the PS2, and we all know Sony makes a killing on that system, the PS3 is still sold as is at a loss.

    DaTechGuru

  • thats stupid, why would they think that BC isent needed, fuck that, dont get me wrong i love my PS2, but damn, i fi could play all my PS2 games or ever one on my PS3 it would be worth much more then it is now

  • Yes, but like most companys Sony cares more about there income then about others. If they cared about others why would they have "laid off' all those employees? I would have liked BC to have stayed or at least a date in which it will come back, not 'we have no plans to make the current PS3 systems BC compitable, as the demand for this feature is significantly low'.

    DaTechGuru

  • that, and it being chosen at random. to be honst as much research as ive done on every system ever, i still couldent tell you the PS3 models that are BC. haha, but yeah. i dont know, i guess thats why im a nintendo fan at heart because they listen. and choose things that all there fans will love to play. like the DSi i think that thing was doo doo for a long time, and i just bought one, i love it

  • ok this might help my point on the fan thing.

take a stand up- fan and something generating heat, and put the fan ontop of the heat, its goes right up and out, not if you set it to the side of the heat, its still generating from the sides, same thing with the PS3 fa, standing it up there still will be to much heat generating, not a lot, but much more then it should be if it was sitting down. direct airflow is better, its disign is to sit down, but give you the option of standing it up,

  • but it is not recomended to stand it up, same with the PS2, Xbox 360, there made to sit down, not stand but they do give you the option, and give it a better life spand, and better cooling if laying down

  • Your making very compelling points here. I can see what your analogy is getting to, direct air flow is of course better, but that wasn't what I was debating in the first place, it had more to do with the air being recycled back in the system once it leaves the bottom side vent when laying down horizontally. I think the new concern is how we have turned the comments page of my YouTube video into a blog, best we leave this as I don't think were going to agree on a conclusion =)

    DaTechGuru

  • right right, sorry about that

  • @facelesstdt mine has been standing up for 4 years nothing happened

  • U HAV TO LAY IT DOWN

  • @cooldood110 calm down dude LOL

  • Hi, cooldood110

As I state in the follow up video to this video, the positioning of the system its self has an affect on the disk drive, but thankyou for your input.

    DaTechGuru

  • mine use to do that too, it would go away with a firm tap above where the disc drive is, tho the noise never lasted long anyway. i suspect it is because its standing vertical and the dvd is becoming un balanced as dvd's spin alot faster then blu ray discs especially when loading a movie. but over 3 years it never resulted in any faults or damaged discs therefore i dont think it is anything to be concerned about but im no expert, anyways good luck mate

  • Yeah, I came to the conclusion that because it is vertical the disc isn't balanced well, but what you said about DVDs spinning faster then Blu-Ray is a good point.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol nice stand for the ps3, can u say the model name of the stand??

  • Honestly wouldn't know, got it a while back because I feared my PS3 would tip over the desk. Also it looks good =)

  • Some disk drives will read the disk in different ways, usually pirate disks will make strange sounds to your disk drive, because the data is written differently than in Hollywood Studios or somewhere :D I have the same problem on my DVD player..

  • you might try using a disc drive cleaning disc, i dont know where to get em try amazon or search, anyway if that doesnt work then just off to sony with it

  • I have, i'm not concerned with this issue because it only happens with that one disk, I am confused on why it happens but I would rather live with a small problem then get rid of my 60GB PS3.

  • JESUS :| that sounds horrible dude... SEND IT TO SONY ASAP

  • Oddly, it only happens when playing that particular disk, and not all the time. I made another video about this problem but I couldn't really explain it properly.

  • Ah, i see..well take care of that ps3 of yours! i love the original 60gb :D

  • Yeah, definitaly! The 60GB PS3s are fantastic.

  • My ps3 fat was making the same noise and my cousin opened it up and cleaned out the fan it had soo much dust that it couldnt breathe!

  • HOALY MOLY that is loud..... would of been funny if the disk would of SHOT out

  • Ahhh, that sounds pretty bad. I wonder would it could be? Does it only happen when inserting something?

  • Thank you for the comment, I will be uploading a video within the next 24 hours explaining the issue...

    Thanks for commenting =)
