Barbados is still a little beautiful ,yes but sadly, its being destroyed by over construction and the moral of the people which has been crushed through years of segragation is at an all time low. Until the wealth of Barbados is evenly distrubutied and the people stopped be exploited, Barbados will continue to lose its charm. Oh and by the way i AM a bajan true and true.

My Paradise Island Home... I wouldnt live anywhere else... No poisonous snakes, No dangerous wild animals, Not much crime Very few beggars, very few hasslers Very few truly homeless You can get to any part of the island in 1 hour max All the roads are passable telephone/ cell phones/ internet available everywhere if needed A mixture of town and country, town and beach, etc Friendly people that are approachable but will leave you alone if that is your wish All beaches are open to the public
This ad is on par with the other ads i see, and in some ways surpasses many of them. I am saying that as someone who appreciates advertising and marketing. Now for the person who wishes to say that we think we are above everyone else, I am sorry if you don't feel the same way about your country. No one can sell it but its citizens. You should focus on promoting your own rather than putting down another person's home country. It just makes you look bad and someone else look good.
I spent 13 years of my life growing up in Bim (originally from Canada) and as much as it was bloody gorgeous, I just had to get out of there. Perfect for vacationing, I will admit, but it is quite another place to live. After 13 years you feel like you're trapped on a rock.
I can't believe they are promoting french fries. They only show black people as servants and its a government ad. There is hardly any good scenes. No mountains? Perhaps its just a key that are calling an island. Looks like only 100 by 100. LMAO
You truly ignorant person!!! we don't have mountains and we ARE 166 square miles!!! do u think everywhere in the world has to be 'big' to be satisfactory. It is sad that our then gov't saw fit to only show the black ppl in servant roles but unfortunately they were trying to appeal to the narrow-minded masses who think we still eat coconuts and live on the beach
You are a big joke. You have never met me but you chose to call me ignorant? Do you knnow the meaning of the word "ignorant"? Look it up in the dictionary. My comment was meant as a joke because you guys act like you are better than other people. You are trying to pass yourselves for something you're not. Your country is not a great as you try to propogandise. Take a chill pill and go do something you enjoy doing.
Ignorant as in 'lacking knowledge' (again mountains, 100x100 LOL!) realize that everything that a country's gov't showcases is hardly ever a true representation of what really exists &if you got from that 'commercial' that we think we are better than everybody else then GREAT!! why shouldn't i think that my country is the greatest in the world. I'm proud 2B Barbadian!! think about how defensive you'd feel if somebody made a joke about ur land. I'm tired of ppl judging us. esp w/out knowledge.
If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. You guys like to critize other countries and promote yours as so great. What's your great achievement? Briana selling sex and acting whorish. Please, go away, already. Humble yourself. If you are that great people will notice. If you keep replying to me, be prepared to get a response every time you click send. Ok?
Dude. What the fuck do you know about Barbados? I've lived here my whole life, save the few times I've been to america on vacation, and I never want to live anywhere else. Everyone of my American friends and relatives who came to Barbados on vacation have told me they love it here.
@CherCherico And let me add I will go do something i enjoy. that is interact with ppl more knowledgeable and certainly more open-minded and globally considerate than you. Have fun putting down other people's countries (as you seem to enjoy doing) I have no more time to waste on this with you. good bye.
@CherCherico You truly ignorant person!!! we don't have mountains and we ARE 166 square miles!!! do u think everywhere in the world has to be 'big' to be satisfactory. I lived in Barbados one winter and it was a truly incredible and unique experience. It has its dark side, though, but that is perhaps what makes it so interesting. You need to be careful there, watch what you do and where you go, but on the whole, people are friendly and the sights are interesting. I interacted with both black and white communities while I was there and the social divide is crazy. It's kind of sad, actually, but still an interesting place to explore and learn about.
Barbados is paradise on earth. The people are friendly and colourful. The sea is azure blue and the sand is like walking on soft powder. But beware Barbados will steal your heart and life will never be the same again!
"So you can choose from a 100 caribean like destinations ....or the last real one on earth: Barbados....The Last authnic caribean experience." My family is from this island and I'm soooo trying to go.

man look of u aint want to come to bim who ever it is dont let it be a fuss stan part ya is and push from roung de good vibes if bartown, ga pon some other body profile and complain and tourist crime in bim is bout 2% and them does be ppl that get drunk and wonder in to dark places if a bajan went in a dark place they would be robbed too we also have one of the lowest crime rates in the caribbean if who ever u are if u cant love fly like a dove or evaporate and condense some where else
yea...TIGBC....ur an idiot!! the crime here is so minimal. no one ever said it didnt have any. but its so minute compared to other destinations, even here in the Caribbean
Barbados has one of the best qualities in Television I have seen, especially in a developing nation ESPECIALLY in the Caribbean. IF you by any weird far fetched stretch of mind came to Barbados expecting EVERYTHING to be perfect and on par with more developed nations, why the heck did you book the flight? again EVERY country has dangers and drug problems and you are not gonna escape poverty no matter where you go. Barbados' levels are not nearly as extreme as many of it's neighbours!!!
@adams8pjoy I liked your comment, but Barbados is not considered a developing nation. It is developed having the 3rd highest HDI in the Western hemisphere behind the United States and before Chile.
@GGLebo23 Actually the UN ranks Barbados as a develop-ed country now due to the standard of living... Which isn't always a good thing because it means Barbados' contributions to the UN have been increased.
BOYCOTT! I was backpacking in the carib it was lovely until i land on this damm island, as i was arriving from jamaica the officers were suspicious about me, they brought me to a room, where dogs sniffed my parts, they made questions like "are you into drugs or are you bringing drugs to barbados etc..." they x-rayed my things after seing i was CLEAN they stil locked me up for 3 nights until the date of my flight to guiana... they are grosse they yell at you all the time...
If people are suspected of certain kinds of behavior, youll have to be skeptical of those people! You try to ensure that your standards are compromised by deviants. I went to school in Jca, and I was always excessively searched in Bdos. Yea I was inconvenienced, but I understood the greater good. Just last week, a JCAN was arrested for drugs in his luggage. watch my video-complaint about barbados to see more details, i don't think someone has to be locked up for 64 hours at an airport even when they saw everything was ok ¬¬
because u had one bad experience u r going discourage other people? gosh, in america almost everyone that gets off an air jamaica flight is checked so i really dont see your point
you didn't get it because you didn't spend 72 hours locked on an airport jail while there were people yelling at you all the time to make you "confess" something you didnt and after all this s*** they pop up saying they'll send you to guyana (i'm a national of brazil) ... insane people i was doing a favor visiting the island!
u "were doing us a favour" yet u come back and complain about it? and you're behaving as if this only happens in barbados... don't try to bring barbados down because of one bad thing, this happens all over the world and they are treated worse than u were treated, u did NOT do us a favour.

ofcourse I was, the economy on barbados is a fiasco... you survive on tourism i was going to leave my precious dollars there, but i'm glad they didnt let me in at least i didnt spend any of it! and bad for your country once that this was published in a lot of places around brazil ;)
and because you published a little complaint about barbados you think that is going to stop brazilians and others from around the world from coming to barbados? well, think again dear because if we survive on tourism and our economy is still afloat that means that people are still coming here despite your little experience
@andfranca Your lucky you werent in america you would have gotten treated worse . I applaud what TRBPF did...they were taking precautionary measures with every right too..they are just trying to keep its citizens safe
well i don't care... my lawyer already got the money i spent on this island, besides that my immigration friends already deported lots of bajans only for fun.... my revenge is complete :d cheers!
@andfranca I guess if i were in your situation i would feel the same way but it sucks for you that even though you got all that revenge that experience will still be with you for the rest of your life.....so does that revenge still taste as sweet
Its funny how this video doesn't have much black people and the majority of the BAJAN population is BLACK!! They were sure to show all the black ppl serving the tourists though.......
i don't blame u. it seems like people from the islands r more patriotic than people from america i guess because there is peace in those countries including. MAN i wish i lived there.
Its pricier that some other destinations, but it isnt that expensive that it makes it somewhere you cant visit. Its cheaper for people whose currency is higher than oursEuro, Pound, Use.t.c...
If I really were to identify an island that is comparable to Barbados, (and Ive travelled all through the C'bean) it would be DOMINICA!!! The country is so lovely!! GOSH! Its like the Garden of Eden!! Its just a little underdeveloped. but thats changing...
Yes.. My name is tyler.. i went to barbados for 3 weeks.. we did something everday and you never got bored.. we did not stay on a resort, we rented a house and well it was worth it, we went to mullins beach every day and i am telling you that when they say barbaods has pawers, its is 100 percent true! it was my favorate vacation in my life. Thank you
Its messed up - this ad makes it look really glossy and beautiful - I live here and never make it to half those places. Kinda cool that stuff is around but who has time to enjoy it.
it is very strage, I guess it makes sense though, when you live there. like thats were you work to pay your rent and feed yourself. they made this add to atrract people to your buetiful country. I really cant wait im going there for march break, ive been there once before on a cruise, and literally it was the past part of the whole cruise, i guess thats what happens when you are like me, Canadian and freezing my ass off
i know exactly what you mean...living here and visiting here are two different things...but barbados is truly beautiful...you always have to take time for yourself...and when you do....take a tour around the island...extremely gorgeous
I live in Barbados at OceanCity which is about 2 Kilometres from the Crane Hotel. During the raining season we had about 5 dengue cases. Dengue is not that easily caught neither is it contagious.Guyana and Trinidad because of there rivers had high incidence of dengue. Air and Cruise travel facilitates the spreading of disease I caught chickenpox while on a trip to New York. Do come and enjoy yourself!
Barbados is like a trusty friend. It is easy to get to know, gracious and friendly, comfortable to be with, lively at times and always comes up with the goods!

that's why i don't like barbados. i'm gonna admit it, i like the commercialism, the capitalism, great tv, fast food everyday, you just don't get that in barbados. hawaii was such a treat compared to it. because it's america! man i miss oahu.
well, i think most people go on a holiday to get 'that' out of their system. =S why go on an island holiday when you can go to florida or something...
@eyeyoubin I went to florida this summer and yea it was really awsome with the theme parks and malls and wild life and beaches..but yet I still think Barbados way better....you cant compare the two
Hi, In the UK we would use the foreign office if we need information on problems overseas etc, Your state department would be the place to try! To be honest i have not heard of any problems in barbados from this side of the pond.
My favorite place in the whole world, i have been 3 times now! i wish i could live there forever but without a vast amount of cash to live on it is impossible.. I have been informed that you cannot work for an employer if your from another country until you have been a resident for 5 years .. At 52 i can still dream for a few years yet! - Thanks for posting!
To come here is very different to living here, i do and i love it, you see the real world when you live here. It is commercialized, but not really super sized at all. Too much is being pumped into this island, but i still would not live anywhere else.Live here and see !!!!
no no kwajatay1...u had it right the first time around. Barbados HAS BECOME the most "commercialized, supersized and homogenized" island in the Caribbean. It is NOT the most authentic destination in the Caribbean. Today, the authentic ones are places like Anguilla, Antigua, the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Dominica. Just stating the facts.
Barbados is still the best that's why we are the leaders in Tourism in the Eastern Caribbean. You have to advance to become better., too say authentic doesnt me you have to run around in grass skirts but as long as you dont change your essences....thats why thous islands dont depend on toursim like we do.
And i have not disputed that...I have not said that the other Caribbean countries aren't the least bit commercialized. But the advertisement above SUGGESTS that Barbados is the "the last authentic Caribbean experience" where that is completely untrue! If Barbados wants to judge their authenticity by their level of commercialization then it should be the LAST Caribbean country calling themselves "the last authentic Caribbean experience".
Barbados does look nice, but the narrator doesnt do Barbados justice. He says Barbados is unique because it offers a 'unique fusion of African and British cultures' - dont most islands in the caribbean have a fusion of African and British cultures. He also talks about Barbados being an island which 'hasnt been commercialised and supersized from even being caribbean anymore'- Barbados is one of the most built up and tourist orientated places in the caribbean, so what is he talking about.
That's not what he's saying. Commercialized and Supersized in that instance refers to the way it looks, not the way it's advertised. He's saying you won't go down there and find sky scrapers (as they showed) or that it won't look like so many countries which have corporated so much foreign influences that it looks more like the place you left (America etc) than a tropical island.
They all have a blend of African and EUROPEAN cultures, but not just British. For example, Dominica is Spanish, and Aruba, Caracao and Bonaire are Deutch etc.
Actually, Barbados and probably Bermuda are the only two islands which are Afro-British (particularly Anglo and Gaelic in Barbados' case) almost exclusively. Obviously there have been other influences in recent times.
Most other Caribbean islands are a mix of African plus one or more of British, Spanish, French, Dutch. It doesn't mean the others are less. Just that the Barbados mix is unusual.
Simple reason is that it is the most Eastern island and was difficult to sail to (and invade) from the other islands so it was never occupied by anyone but the English. And obviously Africans, Scots and Irish brought there by the English to work on the plantations.
who gave bad comment wat the f*** is wrong wit ya'll u know what i am gonna keep representin' babrbados whoever the bitch gave me bad comment kiss u rasshole.
wow...looks like paradise...azur waters as far as the eye can see...i only hope i'll go there at least once in my life time...i only hope it's peaceful in political standards no? anyway looks great..paradise..and for anyone that lives there: i hope you realize how lucky you are because everiday you see something that i see only in my dreams. :)
@AlexSuciu the politcal standard here is better than most Caribbean islands..no offence.. so much so that when i visited another caribbean island and its Opposition leader told me how aggressive people are about their politics there..I was shocked. I always thought that after elections you wouldnt see anymore DLp or Blp (government parties in Barbados) flyers or other reminders of the paties but I was wrong in that island if ur wearing the opposing colour your scolded
@kellyzboo07 Trust me if u lived in St.vincent you would fear for your lives when thoses buses drive up those hills...where the drops are so high you cant see the ground
In Barbados, it is WAY too hot for crickets. at the hotels you always here the tree frogs every night. one time I actually saw one. they are really loud for someting that small. they are about this long
kellyzboo07, there ARE crickets in Barbados... i hear them everynight. they are in the bushes outside my house.you DO hear the tree frogs too bcuz i hear them and i find them in my patio but there are crickets here
but it still has more then dat barbadous is not only a pardise country wich they just showed to make people cum there i did i was amaze but not all that amaze. as jamaica its a really nice country jamaica has a hood wat does barbadous have but sun and water iam sayin this by my expierence. its good thoe
yea thats true they do have alot of africans more than whites and i been there its so small but a lovely country thoe. i never knew wat barbadous was at first untill rihanna came on the radio and said she was from there but its not hood sry people its not it just have alot of nice some mean people there to not ass much as ghana but its a good country.
BIM!!!! This is like the Promo video so it's very one sided but lets not forget Barbados is still the shit. The Waters are jus like they show them in the video. Barbados is what it is and what it is is Amazing.
absolutley amazing. this island is so beautiful. from its people to its land. i hope it stays a gem from the rest and stays pure as its beaches and sky. absolutley amazing. its more than something beyond our imagination. its more than a paradise. its an untouchable heaven never seen in anyones life.
Yeah, I noticed the fake skyCRAPERS as well, i think it was to make think of the island as more metropolitan than it is. I just hope they don't try to turn lovley Barbados into Hawaii -or- something.
no no , you have to listen to the narration when the skyscrapers are being shown, " an island that has not been supersizd or homogenised away from being caribbean anymore..." not fake images of barbados but images of a fake caribbean reality was what was being shown.
LIESSSSSSS!!! LIES I TELL YOU!!!! OVER EXAGGERATED!!!! DAMN!!!!

ofcourse I was, the economy on barbados is a fiasco... you survive on tourism i was going to leave my precious dollars there, but i'm glad they didnt let me in at least i didnt spend any of it! and bad for your country once that this was published in a lot of places around brazil ;)
andfranca 2 years ago
and because you published a little complaint about barbados you think that is going to stop brazilians and others from around the world from coming to barbados? well, think again dear because if we survive on tourism and our economy is still afloat that means that people are still coming here despite your little experience
XxAimee95xX 2 years ago 4
@andfranca Your lucky you werent in america you would have gotten treated worse . I applaud what TRBPF did...they were taking precautionary measures with every right too..they are just trying to keep its citizens safe
Purpleheart360 2 years ago
well i don't care... my lawyer already got the money i spent on this island, besides that my immigration friends already deported lots of bajans only for fun.... my revenge is complete :d cheers!
andfranca 2 years ago
@andfranca I guess if i were in your situation i would feel the same way but it sucks for you that even though you got all that revenge that experience will still be with you for the rest of your life.....so does that revenge still taste as sweet

Its funny how this video doesn't have much black people and the majority of the BAJAN population is BLACK!! They were sure to show all the black ppl serving the tourists though.......

Its pricier that some other destinations, but it isnt that expensive that it makes it somewhere you cant visit. Its cheaper for people whose currency is higher than oursEuro, Pound, Use.t.c...

yea, dominica is beautiful, but in a different way. they have more forest and rivers etc...
jonno69098887776766 2 years ago
If I really were to identify an island that is comparable to Barbados, (and Ive travelled all through the C'bean) it would be DOMINICA!!! The country is so lovely!! GOSH! Its like the Garden of Eden!! Its just a little underdeveloped. but thats changing...

Rastam8 3 years ago
it is very strage, I guess it makes sense though, when you live there. like thats were you work to pay your rent and feed yourself. they made this add to atrract people to your buetiful country.

Do come and enjoy yourself!

that's why i don't like barbados. i'm gonna admit it, i like the commercialism, the capitalism, great tv, fast food everyday, you just don't get that in barbados. hawaii was such a treat compared to it. because it's america! man i miss oahu.

Just stating the facts.
darthurton 4 years ago
Barbados is still the best that's why we are the leaders in Tourism in the Eastern Caribbean. You have to advance to become better., too say authentic doesnt me you have to run around in grass skirts but as long as you dont change your essences....thats why thous islands dont depend on toursim like we do.
4rnweekwewm 4 years ago
Im pretty sure Antuiga is pretty commercialized...Non commercialized..lets talk Haiti or Cuba.
alexstrote 3 years ago
And i have not disputed that...I have not said that the other Caribbean countries aren't the least bit commercialized. But the advertisement above SUGGESTS that Barbados is the "the last authentic Caribbean experience" where that is completely untrue! If Barbados wants to judge their authenticity by their level of commercialization then it should be the LAST Caribbean country calling themselves "the last authentic Caribbean experience".
darthurton 3 years ago
possibly.
alexstrote 3 years ago 2
@darthurton Its just an add..do you see Jamaica parading around its slums which are only a short distance away from Montego Bay
Purpleheart360 2 years ago
Barbados does look nice, but the narrator doesnt do Barbados justice. He says Barbados is unique because it offers a 'unique fusion of African and British cultures' - dont most islands in the caribbean have a fusion of African and British cultures. He also talks about Barbados being an island which 'hasnt been commercialised and supersized from even being caribbean anymore'- Barbados is one of the most built up and tourist orientated places in the caribbean, so what is he talking about.
kwajatay1 4 years ago
That's not what he's saying. Commercialized and Supersized in that instance refers to the way it looks, not the way it's advertised. He's saying you won't go down there and find sky scrapers (as they showed) or that it won't look like so many countries which have corporated so much foreign influences that it looks more like the place you left (America etc) than a tropical island.
JyotiKaija 4 years ago
True, thanks for explaining that
kwajatay1 4 years ago 2
They all have a blend of African and EUROPEAN cultures, but not just British. For example, Dominica is Spanish, and Aruba, Caracao and Bonaire are Deutch etc.
FlaviusAetiusII 4 years ago
Actually, Barbados and probably Bermuda are the only two islands which are Afro-British (particularly Anglo and Gaelic in Barbados' case) almost exclusively. Obviously there have been other influences in recent times.
Most other Caribbean islands are a mix of African plus one or more of British, Spanish, French, Dutch. It doesn't mean the others are less. Just that the Barbados mix is unusual.
jimmyd6469 2 years ago
Simple reason is that it is the most Eastern island and was difficult to sail to (and invade) from the other islands so it was never occupied by anyone but the English. And obviously Africans, Scots and Irish brought there by the English to work on the plantations.
jimmyd6469 2 years ago

AlexSuciu 4 years ago
@AlexSuciu the politcal standard here is better than most Caribbean islands..no offence.. so much so that when i visited another caribbean island and its Opposition leader told me how aggressive people are about their politics there..I was shocked. I always thought that after elections you wouldnt see anymore DLp or Blp (government parties in Barbados) flyers or other reminders of the paties but I was wrong in that island if ur wearing the opposing colour your scolded

Yeah, I noticed the fake skyCRAPERS as well, i think it was to make think of the island as more metropolitan than it is. I just hope they don't try to turn lovley Barbados into Hawaii -or- something.
chapeauetbarbe 4 years ago
no no , you have to listen to the narration when the skyscrapers are being shown, " an island that has not been supersizd or homogenised away from being caribbean anymore..." not fake images of barbados but images of a fake caribbean reality was what was being shown.

the "fake sky scrapers" as you put it are showing what Barbados is not...... it is meant to highlight what others have become
