  • I think that this well played. Congratulations!! I am a little saddened by some of the negative comments that have been posted on this forum. Armchair experts that hide behind a mask of anonymity. Well done I would like to see more of your work.

  • very good

  • whoa

  • great work...keep it up...and thanks for posting such amazing piece..

  • Excellent effort!I enjoy Gilels version on youtube

  • It's very good. Just not legendary.

  • I wish I could play 1/10 as good as her. I would be quite satisfied with that.

  • yes this is a wrist breaker so difficult to relax when there are so many notes etc

  • mayby try a bit more feel, especially in the end!

  • Good job

  • Good job Dora! Keep it up. Yes it's a little heavy and monotonous at certain parts, but I bet most of those who were harsh on your performance and commented as if they knew what they were talking about can't play as half as well as you do. And I am sure most of them just can't play this piece of all.

  • thanks cushpajz,,in opening the mind,, is a good sensation in feeling sounds,, congratulations

  • i cant really play this at all my hands are too small so why criticize? it is very difficult,

  • very very well done :D

  • its just that bad recording quality,,ruins a bit

  • I Wish I could play half as good as her

  • There's a lot of marvellous critics on youtube lol.

  • This piece is very hard and this is a good version!

  • Learn from Horowitz

  • @rymyeetu1 it's a widespread transcription, dude

  • amazing left hand

  • I really enjoyed this. The sound quality of the recording, I believe, does not do justice to the performance, which seemed to me to be very effective. I would love to hear you perform this live.

  • I can see you worked so hard on this. Congrats that you did it! Remember, this piece is not about power or speed, it is about the anguish, frustration, sadness, and beauty. If you slow it down a little, you may be able to add more sensitive emotion that swells up and down (really ease into the dynamic changes smoothly). The tension, release, and more flowing (rubato) tempo are what you need here. Hope that helps, and keep going! That shows true humility to post this online. Thanks!

  • Hey guys, she may not be the best pianist, but have a heart. She tried and I'm sure worked incredibly hard on this piece. She probably felt pretty confident about it too, otherwise, she wouldn't have allowed for her video to be posted. And then she comes on this site, hoping to hear all kinds of ooooohs and awes, but instead hears insults. Please try to provide constructive criticism in a more positive way that will encourage her rather than discourage her. Thanks.

  • she makes it looks so complicated n thats no good

  • crash,bang,whallop,oh what a picture...lol

  • you can really mistake her valentina lisista until she plays

  • left hand is like a hammer...dang dang dang...no music...the end is poor...where is the sound?...went to the store...

  • if you can do it better my friend i will invite you and her to proof the point on a good piano in my home

  • perfect and i dont understant people who dont like it ......

  • her timing is really bad. And, her interpretation lacks passion. It seems like she only cares about hitting the right keys. I don't hear Scriabin Etude Op. 8 No. 12.

  • I love the echo !, Impresionistic sfeer !, so 5 *

  • Her timing is really bad in this piece. Just seems like she is trying to hit the right notes, very amateurish. Lacks expression and emotion. Scriabin Etude Op. 8 No. 12 is a favorite of mine, but I don't hear it here.

  • Whoever thought this should be recorded in a room with hard wood floors, and no acoustical tiles, ought to have his head examined! ECHO, ECHO, ECHO, aaarrRRRGGGG!!!

  • Something is not right about the rhythm. The sixteenth notes, particularly, are not accurately observed, thereby taking a lot of edginess out of the performance.

Note this is not a matter of rubato - i.e. the changing of the underlying pulse. You can't play the sixteenth notes slower in a piece and call it rubato.

  • Congratulations Dora....you're fantastic!!!

  • She doesn't catch the core of this piece

  • Wow do you people have ears? this was an ordinary performance, little dynamics or musicality. compare with Horowitz or Kissin, big difference. Use your ears and not your eyes, just because she is a pretty woman doesn't mean it sounds good. I give Horowitz the nod here although I like Kissin very much too. This performance here is what we call 'getting through it'. Sorry.

  • I agree with you entirely.......few can match the genius of Horowtiz

  • trevjr is right, unfortunately. Anton Rubinstein said (and it was not meant positively), "nowadays everyone knows how to play well." This is yet another example of that phenomenon - well played, no doubt, but without artistic interest.

  • Such remarkable writing; even a brillant chanrming young slim prìerformer founds itself using her lef arm kile a hammer.

There are occasions when music it is not the ordunary statement " elevation of the soul" but it's exasperetion.

When I tryed to investigate this etude, on my vertical piano, pieces of wall started falling downs off the ceiling ..!

    Molto brava mademoiselle Javovina.

  • bravo! this was really good. it sounds like a very difficult piece because it doesnt offer a lot of varying textures and dynamics, but i felt you did what you could, and the result was exceptional. 5/5!

  • The main reason for the lack of dynamics is because there are none in the actual sheet music. It is very difficult, and the technique needed to actually play this piece is very professional. I disagree with AnnMarry19 entirely. I've listened to Kissen play this piece and I think Dora sounds better than he does on it.

  • I disagree with deviouslife. There is no dynamics written on the score? What edition are you using? Mine has various dynamics markings ranging from pianissimo to FFF. There's also plenty of sforzandos, crescendos and decrescendos. Although she plays in with brilliancy and wonderful technique, I don't think she feels the music with deep musicality. She hasn't yet reached the level of Horowitz and Kissin, I think.

  • This is especially interesting and AWesome to hear this piece for the first time from you Dora I shall have to add this song to my collection anyway you have great spirit when playing keep on going :)

  • Very Nice!! :) She is one of the best ones out there right now.

  • dora dont believe what some people say your scribin is 10/10!

    bye

  • It's a good performance Dora, I'm a professional pianist so I may say your excecution was very particular, no copies, it's not sound as other pianist playing that etude.

It's a very personal sound and it sounds very well.

Bravo Dora I love this performance.

  • You don't play this piece very well, because you don't hear I guess how beautifull is this piece. I agree with Sandnfire. I don't like your performance. This piece is very nice, but it is not nice when you play.

  • What a poetic sentiment annmarry19

  • Poetic sentiment? xD

  • You obviously haven't heard Myra Hess.

  • Dora, I think I'm in love! All of your videos are exceptional!

  • Why everybody who performs this etude thinks that "Pathetico" means loud and fast... thats not the idea of the etude

  • may be it the recording device, you have to bring out the bass notes, esp during the repeat of the first phrase, but the expression is good. Bravo...

  • Excellent Work! Bravo

  • very nice

  • Dora, marry me! We will live in my castle and have many children. Are you a good cook?

  • she reminds me of Valentina Lisitsa... xmmm.. wonderful!

  • Excellently. Well thats definitly getting an Awesome 5 Star Rating from me. Very nicely played. Great Job. Theres so much hidden talent out there. Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow, that was incredible. This etude is challenging! Your interpretation was damn near perfect!

  • Bravo! Clean and accurate.

  • Not bad, but not enough technique. Tempo is slowed at around 2/3 into the song, simply because the chords became overwhelming. Rather than slowing down 2/3 the way through, just start slower and put more expression into it, to make up for the lost speed.

  • accurate leaps and octaves... however it seems to me that the pedal is somewhat overused and everything is blurred by a cluster of sustained sound. Also near the end (ie. the last two pages) you might want a bit more outlining of the melody... at the moment the melody is somewhat overwhelmed by the repeated chords.

    But then... nice playing!!!

  • Dora,

I also like this one, although it's by Scriabin (You know that's not my favourite).

    Dirk

  • Dora, you're great!!!)))

  • WOW, another great performance!!!

  • Well, I think she is not russian, but croatian.. Anyway, she has a very good technique,, her wrists jump are perfect, no tightness at all.. wish I could take lessons with or her teacher..

  • Yes Russian or a woman....... She is great!!! I love it. Wish I good play like this.

  • great!!! she must be russian...

  • Dora, fantasticna si!!! Pa nisam imala pojma da si takav talent!!! Puno pozdrava od Diane (seka od Ivane S. iz razreda :)

  • It's very secure but, sorry, it's just too loud throughout with accent after accent. It's not melodic enough and there's not much sense of progression or climax. Needs way more sense of line.

  • Incredible. I'm used to listening Horowitz's public performance, and here it's in the same way, with some touches of originality !I must confess I'd like to play it that well ! A so hard score... Congratulations!

  • this room has a strange acoustic. nevertheless she plays good. we just have to wait a few years...

  • beautiful!!

  • excellent !!!! congrats!
