I remember this when i saw skin deep here in houston at cineplex odeon theaters on westhimer and spectrum drive and that was a nice theater sorry they torn it down
Another poster finally uploaded one of the feature presentation bumpers CO used(finally, though I hope a later version I better remember CO using shows up on youtube, down the road), just for everyone's info: watch?v=j1owoGXFr8U
i think i know the history: the one from philo1978 is the 1985-mid 1986 version, the one here is 1986-1988 and the last one was more of a purple tint in 1989.
This is my old school logo since I was a kid watching that logo in theaters,I love sound when opening starts the coming attractions and feature presentation.
This definetly takes me back to 1995-2000 when I saw a cinema feature every Friday afternoon. 5 bucks gotcha into a movie. Started off with Mortal Kombat and yeah...this is the opening I've seen every friday for about 3 years so...thanks a million for delivering this to us :)
Flubber is from late 1997, same year as Anastasia release, Anastasia's NOT a disney film, it was produced by 20th Century Fox, I have never seen this film Anastasia in theatres in late 1997.
I don't think that this particular trailer was used in the 80s. I remember the theatrical trailer for Cineplex was the same as the Cineplex Home Video trailer. This trailer with the coloseum (sp.?) came out in the 90s.

I don't suppose anyone knows where to find the CA & FP snipes that were issued in 2000 with the updated branding? Don't see it on Youtube anywhere. :/
i wonder how many logo's they made--i remember the 2.50 tuesday, the feature presentation bumper, coming attractions and now playing at a ...what other ones where created???
i remember this, mid 90s i think. i wish i could see that general cinema bumper from the early 90s when the symbol is up in the clouds and there is sum trippy music
It's sad I can't think of many Cineplex-Odeon theaters that opened in the Chicago area under CO's era that are left(let alone are still in their CO decor). I know at least Rivertree Court in Vernon Hills(which even still has its CO decor) is in operation, and a few others(some renovated with their CO decor removed) are left.
I wish someone would step up and reopen Lincoln Village 1-6(still in CO decor too), before it becomes too late.
I heard there were two theatres in Houston: one on River Oaks, and another one near the Galleria. There was one here in Dallas at the Promenade Center in Richardson.
I've never been to the Cineplex; so, if I need to know what it sounds like in a theater, I preferred the DVD quality so I can hook it up to my surround sound system.
I remember going to see MORTAL KOMBAT 13 times during the summer of 1995 I believe as well as many other movies at CINEPLEX ODEON. That logo was usually fucking LOUD, especially in the DTS or newer THX auditoriums.
I miss the old Sherway cineplex in Toronto, it puts the QUEENSWAY to shame!
Hah! That's where I saw Mortal Kombat. The theatre was full and my friend couldn't find a seat. I think the last movie I saw there was being john malkovich. Memories.
I remember for the first month when I worked at Cineplex Odeon, before it was in a partnership with Cineplex Entertainment, the snip was the logo exploding into billions of little peaces really loudly, then coming back to spell "feature presentation" then it exploded again. It was wicked.
Which is the reason why I didn't go to Empire Theaters for a LOOOOOOOOONG time. The last time I saw the Empire Theaters policy trailer that I hated which explodes into pieces very loudly was before "Shrek 2". Recently, I went to see "WALL-E" and they showed a much calmer snipe that contains the "no cell phone" policy.
Yeah, there is a Cineplex Odeon theatre near my college...but they are becoming scarce now in the Chicagoland area. This logo was creepy still, but awesome.
cineplex odeon has a good list of tapes, about 15 plus. from 1985 to 1994-ish. this logo gave me nightmares after i went to see casper. i was sitting too close and i was only 6. i remember when i saw spice world and saw a variant of the feature presentation- many smaller versions of the logo without the words were combining to make the logo. is this real or not?
Correction, Wayne 1980aa: Cineplex Odeon started as Cineplex in 1979 with the building of the Eaton Centre Cinemas with 18 tiny cinemas. It became Cineplex Odeon when they bought out Canadian Odeon Theatres* and France-Film in 1984.
* Canadian Odeon was the resault of Canadian Theatres from Calgary,AV bought out the Odeon Theatres from the British Rank Film.
Great logo, great backing theme, and filming technology probably ahead of its time. I have not seen any other North American theater chain trailer from the mid 1980s that matched this one in excellence. The next trailer that I saw that even came close to this one was not released until 1989 by United Artists Theatres from the U.S.
Wow, I remember when Cineplex Odeon theaters used to be all over the Chicago area. Just to think now, that they were bought out twice since they used to exist(by Loews around the late 90s/early 2000s, and Loews was bought by AMC around 2005).
So if they still exist as a company in Canada, does anyone know if they just split their American theater operations into a separate company(and around the time they merged w/Loews), or something else?
IN 2000 Onex started a small circuit called Galaxy Cinemas in Canada after buying out Loews Cineplex. In 2005 Onex buys out Famous Players in Canada becoming Cineplex Entertainment and sells the Loews Cineplex in the U. S., which was than taken over by AMC.
yeah a lot of US movie theatres and drive-ins are called Galaxy but the are not in the canadian "galaxy" chain, which is operated by Cineplex entertainment.
Wow!! That Was Undeniably Awesome! They Don't Make Logos Like That Nowadays...My Favorite Was The Regal Cinemas One With The Roller Coaster Opening...I Miss That So Much...
There used to be a Cineplex Odeon in the 90s near my Dad's old office on Montrose. I went to that Cineplex Odeon to see Antz, Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Star Trek: Irrusrection. God, I love YouTube! Anytime I'm thinking of something from back-in-the-day, I can come here and find it! I love that people are as weird as I am and remember the stupid intro from the movies! :-)
I Think it had the same design, Also I have seen French versions of the same clip, which were used in Quebec. (Notre Programme Principal) (Bientot la affice)
This is great! I did projection at the Cineplex Odeon Lincoln Village 6 and boy does this bring back the good days. Does any one have the Feature Presentation one?
Garth Dabinsky's a fucking egotistical sack of shit (yes, I know: you've GOT to have an ego to get ahead).
I say it from personal experience, and, I hope he rots in a cell.

if anyone has a copy of the crow with brandon lee,
it is released bu c/fp video, which is famous players.
