just visit EII Yahoo group, we have discussion on this. For EII that I also have I'm still using SD+powerbook180. that is easy for me.
In the video you can see HxC prototype based on prototype schematics that is different from production one. It works fine. However I bought later production unit fully assembled with updated firmware. it's better.
yes, that's how i heard about this. i'm on yahoo. thanks. i use sd, and an old quadra 800, but it'd be great to save all these samples on this hxc, for use with my emulator II.
it works fine with the dpx-1, but how about with the emulator II ? why would that be different ? same floppy drive, reading EII samples ... ?
my old mac might not be useable anymore some day... if i just need to load samples, i could use my mac much less, to preserve it. and i could load every samples.
understood what you meant. the idea is to use HxC with converted images but not native EII format. So, every image I'm loading with hxc to DPX1 is converted with the tool eii2dpx. But the real EII format is still unknown.
@DeftAudio ok, i understand the difference. the dpx-1 seems to have the secret to understand the real native EII format. and now i don't understand anymore ..both emulator and dpx-1 can understand the EII native format, right?written on the real floppys. isn't it what's loaded into the hxc?no?you mean it's the converted image loaded into the hxc ?converted to what?
couldn't we use the hxc with the native EII format?acting as a floppy driver, that reads and delivers, and store the EII format?
HxC should know the floppy image format. We know this format for converted images(i.e. image that was loaded from 5.25 EII floppy and saved to 3.5 by DPX1). We have a tool from E-synthesist for this conversion.
There is significant project for making HxC compatible with native EII, you may see this in yahoo thread.

@KARKUSisususiuscDMK
Hi, you can buy production version of HxC directly from manufacturer:
hxc2001 dot free dot fr/floppy_drive_emulator/
As I know they do shipping from Polland.
Hovewer I can provide you refurbished 3.5" drive if you got it broken and need to load your disks.

awsome !!!
too bad, i just sold my dpx-1. but i still have my emulator II. i wonder what to do to make it work on an emu II ( ??? )
what model did you buy from hxc ? did you do any mod or did you just plug it instead of the floppy drive ?
you can load emu II samples from a pc via usb , to the hxc ? is that right ?
too bad the emu II samples can't be edited on the pc, like sound designer can, directly connected to the emu II
