The problem with the 'Martin hasn't finished the series because he's greedy and lazy' argument is that if it were really true, he would have already finished off the series in some quick, predictable way that any hack could pull off. I hardly think he's unaware that the surest way to make boatloads of money is to finish writing these books.

He is a great writer. I would say he is the best of a genre that he has all but re invented. However, he has a terrible work ethic and has become more than a bit enamoured with his own success. I guess he likes being a celebrity better than writing. It doesn't take a great mathmatician to realize that the HBO series will catch up with his writing quite quickly. The girl who plays Arya will be finishing College and having kids before this puppy is done. If he ever finishes.

@beef4u2use I don't agree with that at all. Sure he's taken a while with the last two books, but this video is mistaken in saying each book takes 5 years - the first three took only 2 years each (for 1000 pages long that's reasonable). Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons took alot longer because they were alot harder for him to write - he planned for them to be one book but had to split it up because there was so much cruical stuff happening. Have faith man!

How can you watch this video and then ask who he is? Ok, slowly now: George R.R. Martin is a fat, old, author who writes fantasy books. His books are so popular that the first one is being made into an HBO miniseries. However he writes very slowly and his books come out about every five years. Fans are worried he will die (like Robert Jordan, what you don't know who that is either?) and not finish the books. George likes to blog about his favorite NFL teams instead of writing his books.
