  • Hey man great video, so clear!

Have a q : What´s that little thing that rebounds in your snare when you hit it?

  • Thanks :-) That's a snare dampener from Remo that works like a noise gate, neat little thing, developed by Dave Weckl I think.

  • Thanks for another great drum lesson. I have a new appreciation for the paradiddle.

  • Great video and teaching skills. what crash is that? does it really say UFIC in UFC

    Text????

  • Thanks mate :-) This is a 16" UFIP Class Series Crash cymbal, made in Italy

  • guys if you haven't already realized 90%(maybe less) of what you play in songs is paradiddles.

  • Hi, I would like to thank you so much for these videos. I am still to be considered a beginner drummer and I realised how a "simple" rudiment like the single paradiddle can be used to build amazing fills and even solos. Thanks to have presented it at a very slow tempo, that's very important for beginners. Most of the videos show demonstrations at very fast tempo, it's very impressive but very discouragning... I look forward to trying it!

  • You're very welcome! Great to hear you're inspired to work on these ideas, have fun :-))

    Cheers

  • what crash is that to your right? the sabian one, what is it called? what size?

  • It's a 18" Medium Thin AA by Sabian

  • wow, this series is awesome! You're gonna find me returning here a few times to master this!

  • That's great to hear!!

  • paradiddles for life

Bin sehr zufrieden damit.

  • At last a drum teacher not trying to show off by explaining these rudiments, but keeping the speed very slow and gentle in order to make it comprehensive for everybody to understand. Try it at that speed first and speed up when you're feeling comfortable. It helps. Well done! I appreciate...

  • Thanks! I really appreciate your comment :-))

    Cheers

  • @Jungleritter Erm...this isn't related to the paradiddles, but what's that little thing bouncing up and down on the left hand side of the snare when you accent the stroke in the first excercise?

  • That's a snare dampener. It jumps up when you hit the snare and comes down quickly after to dampen it. It let's the snare breath a little bit more than the conventional ones.

  • @Jungleritter Ahhh I see. That's a really good idea! Thanks for the reply =D

  • @DrummingWithDale Probably some type of muffle.

  • Super Videos, einfach Spitze! Bin mir sicher, dass ich jetzt (wie viele hier) endlich mal verstanden habe wie man so ein paradiddle in fills anwendet...vielen Dank:)

  • Klasse, freut mich dass dir das Video gefällt und weiter hilft :-))

  • what sticks are you using?

  • what sticks are you using?

  • Usually 5b Classic Vic Firths but I can´t always get a pair, I like to switch to be versatile. I also switch when playing certain styles of music like Jazz/Swing or Folk(using lighter sticks)

  • riiiiing a diddle

  • Awesome AWESOME! I will be doing this today on my oil drums! Awesome usage of the para-diddle. Thanks for the tips I look forward to trying this out on my gear.

  • Great video, it isnt as easy as it seems, 5*

  • thanks for all these videos! they've been really helpful, especially your gaddisms one. you've really helped me understand what gadd was doing with his paradiddle grooves

  • That snare sound is SEXY!! I need that for my KIT!!

  • Good video! Love the sound of your kit also!

  • UFIP Cymbals rules!!! Nice sound...

  • i was just about to ask the same thing

my guess would be a dampener that's able to bounce so it doesn't immediately dampen the sound

  • Yeah, that´s exactly what it is :-)

  • what is that thing on the snare? and whats it for

  • Comment removed

  • It´s a dampener. It works basically like a noise gate.
