Hi, I would like to thank you so much for these videos. I am still to be considered a beginner drummer and I realised how a "simple" rudiment like the single paradiddle can be used to build amazing fills and even solos. Thanks to have presented it at a very slow tempo, that's very important for beginners. Most of the videos show demonstrations at very fast tempo, it's very impressive but very discouragning... I look forward to trying it!
At last a drum teacher not trying to show off by explaining these rudiments, but keeping the speed very slow and gentle in order to make it comprehensive for everybody to understand. Try it at that speed first and speed up when you're feeling comfortable. It helps. Well done! I appreciate...
@Jungleritter Erm...this isn't related to the paradiddles, but what's that little thing bouncing up and down on the left hand side of the snare when you accent the stroke in the first excercise?
That's a snare dampener. It jumps up when you hit the snare and comes down quickly after to dampen it. It let's the snare breath a little bit more than the conventional ones.
Super Videos, einfach Spitze! Bin mir sicher, dass ich jetzt (wie viele hier) endlich mal verstanden habe wie man so ein paradiddle in fills anwendet...vielen Dank:)
Usually 5b Classic Vic Firths but I can´t always get a pair, I like to switch to be versatile. I also switch when playing certain styles of music like Jazz/Swing or Folk(using lighter sticks)
Awesome AWESOME! I will be doing this today on my oil drums! Awesome usage of the para-diddle. Thanks for the tips I look forward to trying this out on my gear.
thanks for all these videos! they've been really helpful, especially your gaddisms one. you've really helped me understand what gadd was doing with his paradiddle grooves
Hey man great video, so clear!
Have a q : What´s that little thing that rebounds in your snare when you hit it?
uprimny1989 2 months ago
Thanks :-) That's a snare dampener from Remo that works like a noise gate, neat little thing, developed by Dave Weckl I think.

Was ist das fürn Aufsatz auf der Snare? Eine Art Dämpfer?
Nie zuvor gesehen^^
JulianGSchmitz 1 year ago
Das ist ein Dämpfer von Remo, entwickelt von Dave Weckl, der ziemlich genauso wie ein Noise Gate arbeitet. Bin sehr zufrieden damit.

UFIP Cymbals rules!!! Nice sound...

i was just about to ask the same thing
my guess would be a dampener that's able to bounce so it doesn't immediately dampen the sound
WillWatson23 2 years ago
Yeah, that´s exactly what it is :-)

It´s a dampener. It works basically like a noise gate.
