  • ugh my clarinet wont play music! ieverything is tight and im not pressing any buttons! plz reply! HELP!!!

  • Lady, who told you to teach clarinet???

  • ...expertvillage was never useful in anything

  • Um, she breathes wrong :) You have to inhale using the (Thoracic) diaphragm, hence you will only move your STOMACH not the shoulders. As you can see her shoulders rise. That is wrong. Your belly should expand and shoulders should stay where they are. If you find out that your shoulders are moving upwards you are doing it wrong:)

Also standing up will help both with your fingers being relaxed on the clarinet and your breathing.

I still have good stomach muscles even after not playing 5+ yrs

  • Well I learned 2 things. 1) this chick sucks at playing the clarinet. 2) "expertvillage" is made up of a bunch of idiots who don't know shit about playing the clarinet

  • Guys I finialy learned how to blow the trick is to make the reed really spitty!!!

  • I just got my clarinet yesteray and i am trying to leran how to blow out of it! I need help can anyone give me any tips because this video didnt

  • @daisydevon i thought that 2 you have to like put presure on you top lip

  • She is a music teacher. Took her years to find a job. Can you guess why!!!!!!! I heard her play in some community groups in SE PA. How she sits first chair is beyond me!!!!!!! She tuned the woodwinds with the first note - then tuned the brass with a flatter note. UNBELIEVABLE. AS YOU NOTICED IN THIS VIDEO SHE CAN"T HOLD A NOTE WITHOUT CHANGING THE PITCH.

  • ridiculous....

  • i play a first clairanet and im suppost to be just a well not have a big part but i have alot of solos:D

  • ah when i try to play, i can but after two measures my mouth goes numb and starts to go open and let air out and im not sure how to stop it! please help me! i am a flute player but i have decided to take up clairnet just to know it for fun :) sooo yeah i really would like help!

  • Yet again...another teacher who doesn't have a clue how to breath or teach breathing. Ignore this lesson to save yourself from years of playing incorrectly.

  • HAHA... is it just me... or this video is about teaching how to breath properly right? it seems shes having trouble breathing just while talking...

  • wow.she kinda made me angry.

  • ew. never breathe through ur chest EVER.

  • bi carnt wait im gettin a clarenet next year coz im learnin drums this year :) im gettin my own for christmas

  • I think she makin fun of me at 0:54...

  • I love how this video is supposed to teach you how to breathe correctly in order to play the clarinet and all she really tells you is to take a big breath and hope for the best.

  • nice video. this may seem obvious but i play clarinet too. 5/5

  • Anyone interested in Clarinet, should get Buffet.

That is the brand everyone looks up to,and honestly theyre amazing.

Durable and hardly ever break, and come with the uttermost beautiful cleaning kit.

Theyre good for any clarinet player, beginning or proffesional and they are outstanding at suiting both.

  • @tisana123

Exactly, you could also try getting B45 Vandoren mouthpiece to go with it!

  • @tisana123 I have a Noblet clarinet and it was my grandmas. It's a really good clarinet too :)

  • I think reeded instruments a pain because you have to put the reed in your mouth and plus the reed breaks easliy and get chiped

  • get your arm off the table wtf

  • my reed is crapy on mine

  • y do you have the same shirt on thats nasty

  • hey. i was wondering if you could post a vid about vibrato and when its good to use it. and techniques and shit like that.

  • haha your username is hilarious

  • what she's talking about has nothing to do with how to breath except one word "diaphragm" lol, nice noobsvillage

  • this is a good lesson and when you're playing the concert f (G) it helps if u put down keys 4,5,6, and f/c key. whenever you start going up to the higher notes, it'll help u make a smoother transition, going from concert F (G) to concert Bb (C). smoother is faster! lol

  • Hey, burnick, get your fat arm off the table.

  • Thank you so much. I'm trying to learn how to play the clarinet and it always would "squeek" on me. It really made an aweful noise, like an air horn.

The problem was that I was indeed taking too much of the mouth piece in my mouth.

Thank you for helping me fix my problem and to not give hope on playing the clarinet.

  • haha idk why i'm watching this i've been playing for 7 years...

ya'll should all look into getting buffet R13s lol..i have one!!! they sound amazing!! woot...idk random post go clarinet!! xD =]..

  • haha yeah. I just got an R13 and its an awesome one! I had to try 4 before I found one that I liked

  • ya dude, they sound amazing and same here, when i got mine i sat there and went through like 4 or 5 before i got to that one lol and i just loved it..

  • That isn't right what she tells about th clarinet.

  • whats not right

what the fuck are you talking about

  • Well she is totally right. One of the most common error I see in students playing is that they blow with all the pressure in the upper part of the body and take too much mouthpiece in.

  • am I the only one who can't get the hang of it?

  • How do I get a list of all the clarinet videos and their order?

It seems like it would have been helpful to number them.

They seem very good but the way YouTube is set up it is difficult to browse through just your clarinet videos I am new to YouTube so perhaps there is a way to do this?

  • are reeds sold seprately?

  • mine came with the clarinet

  • Yeah, you have to buy them at a music store.

  • thank you :3

  • umm...is there such thing as a "plastic" clarinet...or are you talking about a recorder gamewizer12?

  • Yes, there are plastic clarinets.

They are usually called "student clarinets" because they are more durable for marching band classes, etc...

  • ok wehn u breath ur not supposed to move ur shoulders ur supposed to breath from ur stomach and i will make more videos after christmas time cuz i play too so check my vis out then bye!

  • ok what do i do with my mouth? its not like i just breath on it and it plays

  • you just need to angle the clarinet so that the air travels through it properly curl your lips inwards too

then you want to not puff your cheeks out either

  • People will tell that breathing from the diaphragm is impossible because the diaphragm is an involuntery muscle. This is true, but I believe the concept of it has a good use. The point is that you want to fill yoor lungs up, and by doing that your diaphragm will expand. It helps the idea of a deep, warm breath.

  • Do not hold your breath while breathing. The air should be going in or out. Not thatshe does, but she doesn't stress the point.

I am under the school of the entire class practicing breathing exercises almost daily. Even up to high school. Breathing is the basis for what you do and should be treated highly. I also believe that some of the techniques from the breathing gym, that low brass players use a lot, can be applied to the other instruments.

  • oh good for u

  • ouch...thanks for the vid

  • thanks for the vid im a 6th grader playing a plastic clarinet and i suck badly =( i got kicked out so im practicing hard to get back in the loop
