  • 2:18 epic

  • METAL GOD !

  • Am I hallucinating? There's a few moments there where I see the Metal God himself with a bass in his hands!

  • THE METAL GOD! *bows down*

  • See kids. This is how REAL music is made. None of that auto tuned and cookie cutter sounding talentless hackjob bullshit here.

  • @naughtycanuck

I don't think you used enough cliches in your post.

  • how we flag these video as epic?

  • harford was never gay he just was a litlle kid that dosent like woman

  • @lmsc19 Well, he is not any more a "Little Kid"

  • @Orion28296 of course not but in the interveu of that metal show he said "i am a little for 65 years" so his internal kid donever dead

  • 5 guys dosent got into the spirit

  • @gemaawutzje don't worry...your voice sounds like shit too, HALFORD RULEZ!!!

  • @abranthetimekeeper I agree!! Bobby H is thee man!!

  • el puto amo

  • SCREAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMIIIINNGGGG RRROOOBBB!!!!!! GET INTO THE SPIRITTTT!!!

  • every christmas song should be like this

  • The one and only METAL GOD!!!

  • Now, That's what i call CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!!!

  • This song is like teeth ripping into meat at a thousand miles an hour, and it's a goddamned Christmas song. Epic, from the man that defined it.

  • I wonder what's up with the 4 dislikes as of December 11th, 2010?

  • I actually love his voice so much I wish he would sing the songs in a standard way, non metal. I LOVE winter song though.

  • Really love that voice!

  • fucking grow up all of yaaa

  • This video shows Rob playing the bass on this song. I wonder if he did or if he was just messing around in the studio.

  • @bubbatha There's an interview somewhere on here where he says he plays a little guitar on the album too. No surprise since he wrote the entirety of War of Words himself. He has more up his sleeve than a great voice. :)

  • 0:47 god plays bass !! DX

  • @Sylarbob He plays a Les Paul too at 4:35.

  • @HeadBangerHippy ahhahah truee XD

  • I only liked this song from Winter Songs. It's an awesome song.

  • This is a record he wanted to do for years and if making christmas songs is selling out, then I don't want to know what changing music style to please the mainstream audience is (Metallica)... Halford has gone his own way ever since he started and will continue to do so because he knows that people will still love him and support his records, and that he doesn't need to go mainstream to be recognized for what he does like many other fruity fag-bands (no pun intended) out there.

  • Rob was one of the best vocalist in Rock History and he still is.

    He's simply a Legend.

  • GET INTO THE SPIRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!! Halford is the law!

  • I wish I could understend his intentions with this album

  • is it just me or is it just unusual to see Rob wearing a t-shit? hah.

  • @kyleknutt He's promoting his clothing line launched this year. Metal God Clothing.

  • I laughed out loud when i first saw the title "Winter songs" by Halford, i thought to myself " totally unexpected and fucking brilliant". And it was, absolutely amazing stuff, this is what metal is all about. Good times!

  • Love him, METAL GOD!

  • Accept möter Judas Priest!!!

  • Epic voice of halford!!

  • muy grosooooooooooooooooo

  • I miss FIGHT!!!!

  • Too funny....this is Robs apology for getting old and for saying everything he did on his earlier records that he never believed in......Rob, you don't nee to apologize and I still love old Priest .......and I never took it too literal like some.........

  • This shit totally rocks. I got this album on CHRISTMAS DAY 09!!!You wanna talk about a good Christmas??? This was one of the best ones ever, just due to the fact that it was a HALFORD CHRISTMAS!!! A lot of people do not understand, this man is so musically inept.. He can play guitar, bass, sing.... A lot of people do not realize this, but HE writes a lot of his music... Down to the guitars, drums, singing..HALFORD IS THE METAL GOD!!!!!!!!! GET INTO THE SPIIIIIRIT BROTHERS OF METAL!!!!!!

  • @nelsonmatt24 I think the word you were looking for is "adept". Inept means clumsy or having no skill. But we know watcha meant!:D

  • vocals sound processed a lot

  • I love how he sounds like the bee gees :) this song can't get out of my head now...

  • @Roolek He should cover Nights on Broadway by The Bee Gees He can cover any song & it`ll sound screaming good

  • best Christmas music ever? yes i think so

  • badass song \m/

  • halford cant be a chiristian?? hes gay!?!?

  • @wavierbaltazar gay people can be christian

  • @wavierbaltazar this my dear friend, is totally homophobic and their is no reason that if he's gay he shoulndt believe in god. grow up please, thank you

  • Rob will be a legend - ever - even when his voice doesn´t work as before. this can´t no one expect from a nearly 60 years old man!

  • 1000*************

  • halford is a metal god no matter what

  • this is by far the best Christmas music ive ever heard!!

  • Rob Halford can go higher with his voice than Bruce Dickinson, but Halford's actual voice is deeper than Dickinson's.

  • @ManlySound Rob Halford uses a falsetto, and computer magic in this. King Diamond's voice is a lot deeper than both Halford and Dickinson in actual voice, both goes above both, but in a falsetto. Dickinson uses better technique than both.

  • Роб Хэлфорд - человек, одержимый в хорошем смысле: монстр тяжелого рока. "Старички" рулят!!!

  • Еще и как! Старички лучше всех.

    РОБ ХЭЛФОРД = БОГ МЕТАЛА!

  • halford rules !!!

  • we jammed you got another thing comn with with mike davis 2day and it was awsome

  • where can i get the song?

  • ...Did I just see Rob play bass? I didn't know he played an instrument or two!

  • @NorthrendProductions Yeah, that was Rob! He plays guitar too, and actually wrote a lot of the riffs on Fight's "War of Words" CD.

  • Halford rules !!!

    this song is awesome !!!

  • You idiots. Whom is he selling out to? As far as I can tell, he is creating music for the season of winter. God, you are all fucking retarded. Learn what selling out means before you call him a sellout, fucking twats.

  • rob halford is the metal god

  • Haha, "selling out". The fans would rather have had a normal Halford album (seeing all the comments all over the web). That would have been a much much bigger crowdpleaser by far.

  • could anyone post the lyrics, please?

  • The one and only God of Metal

...with a kick-ass T-shirt, link it if u find it in the net (the one with the guy holding a guitar, is that Asator?) :]

  • @OldManPoopOrgy Rob can GO higher with his voice, but his singing and talking voice is deeper, Listen to Epitaph and Heavy Duty...When Rob sings normally his voice is deeper, but he can go higher on songs like Victim Of Changes, Painkiller, Dissident Aggressor........Bruce's voice normaly higher, listen to "Fear Of The Dark", his voice dose'nt sound deep at all, even though it's 1 of his lowest notes.

  • Hey guys, Don't u think it's stupid that ignorant people actually think that Rob has a higher voice than Bruce Dickinson?

I mean, COME ON, Reaching higher notes and Having an actual higher voice is 2 different things!

Dickinson has the higher voice, but Rob Halford can reach a higher notes and his voice is naturally deeper than Bruce's.

It's like Gillan and Plant, Gillan has a deeper voice than Plant, but he can go higher with his voice.

  • Отличная песня!! Я вижу даже сюда в комментарии UDO и Accept пробрались!

  • Lovethat dude, he's so FREAKIN amazin

  • Que chingona cancion ; carajo!!!!

  • HD quality incrible images!!!

  • Awesome song!!

  • Kanon!

  • is there even more honor than to work with such person? guess the only way is to be one.. but I don't think there will be another Rob..

  • METAL GOD!!

  • At :49 Rob playing bass????

  • It's something UDO-ish over the bridge and chorus. Very catchy.

Halford is really good at that. He isn't just an excellent singer, but he is very good at composing catchy vocal melody-lines.

  • The man doesnt sing as high as he used to.His falsetto singing is over-processed nowadays, as u can see.

On the other hand, his low baritone tone is more expressive than ever. Therefore the highlight 4 me was the slow part with piano underneath it.Very emotive.

  • old school priest rule

  • nice voice love it

  • i can only think of 1 thing gayer...luv ya rob anywayz

  • This is not "selling-out", you culturally illiterate anti-conformists.

The man is a Christian. This season's spiritual occasion is a part of his identity.

Fucking accept it already. Metal has never been defined by superficial pseudo-satanism and laughable grimness. That is the opinion of a poseur.

  • makes me feel proud to be the same as halford religiously and still like metal. it doesnt have to be godless. halford rules!

  • @FurryAR How do you know he's a christian? I've never heard that before. You're right metal has never been defined by what you mentioned, but that doesn't mean it can't include it. You come off equally close minded by calling it "laughable" grimness. That is the opinion of someone who is uneducated in the genre he(or she) is referring to.

  • @Whackooyzero

On November 10th, 2009, he described himself as a "heavy metal Christian" in an interview with a Phoenix radio station called KUPD.

He also discussed becoming more devout than his family members since youth in an interview with the Montreal Gazette.

I admire that he reconciles it so well with his homosexuality, really.

I owe Metal more respect than to acknowledge contrived grimness as anything other than amateur black metal bands trying too hard to be kvlt instead of good

  • @FurryAR Some BM bands are like that but many are not.

  • @Whackooyzero

I... did not say they are?

  • @Whackooyzero

There's pathos and there's bathos. There's tension and there's melodrama.

Likewise, there are bands who give artistically viable treatment to macabre themes and ones that just hork the symbolism for no other reason than to appease groupthink.

  • @FurryAR

I'm an anti-conformist sure, bloody proud of it too, but I sure ain't culturally illiterate... this is a sell-out... sorry. HOHOHO!

  • @maegan1981

You're not helping that claim by insisting on misapplying the term "sell-out."

Selling out is what happens when an artist changes his style, his message or his image to appeal to a wider audience or the lowest common denominator for purposes of simple profit.

A change in direction that comes of the artist's personal creative interests or desires alone does not fit the "selling" part.

It didn't apply to Frank Zappa writing orchestra and it doesn't apply to Winter Songs.

  • @FurryAR

Your definition very much suits my point. I've been a huge Halford/Priest fan most of my life, defending them a lot - however I also try to be less of a fanboy and quite realistic and given their history, wanting to appeal to a wider audience is exactly what Priest has done numerous times. Sometimes with a nice result, and other times with a face blushing result.

You are entitled to your opinion, and I am to mine, but the name calling doesn't suit your pseudo-intellectual approach.

  • @FurryAR

However I won't be drawn into an argument about a person I admire. I'm only questioning the artists' integrity in relation to what I(!) feel this kind of music Halford/JP is about (to me = metal with a nietzschean message). So my message is that if you like it, then cool - but imo it's a bit too Spinal Tap/cliché and hence I won't purchase it. I'm sorry for provoking you guys...

I wish you a merry Christmas, come december ;) - and yes Halford still rules!

  • @maegan1981

Oh, die in a fire. Typing something above a 2nd-grade reading level does not make one a pseudo-intellectual, nor does the fact that a point is debatable make it unintelligent.

And again, it's not simply seeking a wider audience. It's doing so for money as the end. It's not "my" definition; it's *the* definition, and I'm asserting a fact rather than offering an opinion in that regard.

And you weren't drawn into anything. You're the one who addressed a post and got a reply in kind.

  • @FurryAR

I'm sorry that I don't take Youtube "debates" as serious as you do. I love you!

  • @FurryAR ......He's a christian?? WOW! you mean like, he reads his bible, has given his life to christ? Lives his life for Jesus? I always knew he was a very genuine and decent sort, but......WOW!! I'm amazed!

  • @FurryAR i couldnt have put it better myself thx for the comment

  • @FurryAR Fuckin' A! Said like a true metalhead.

  • i love when Rob is playing air-guitar x)

  • Oh Christmas tree oh Christmas tree ...

  • god halford *******************

  • This is truelly incredible!!!!

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • nice

  • What a horrible performance

  • I wouldn't call it horrible, but it's definitely not Resurrection...that's for sure!

  • Mate, this is horrible judging by normal standard. I did not even judge Halford by Halford standard. I guess I disagree with you.

  • @skullvomit666 totally agree

  • A real heavy metal band can sing about everything, no matter what is the subject.

  • my computer is shit....internet ! rob is the new gillan hehe rob is god ! new gillan ! damn from finland the metal land !!!!!!!!!!!!! jeeebus n? m jeebus

  • this sounds like metal ! mahtavaa ! this is metal i mean ! not sound...too many of drinks ? in finland minun sydän

  • LONG LIVE THE METAL GOD!

  • cante papá!!! hasta el final de los tiempos...

  • ROOOOOOOOOOOOOB!!!!!!

  • sounds really good

  • It pains me that there aren't any "behind the scenes of making fx Screaming for vengeance". I'd love to see that.

  • Cool music though, and nice to see him playing the bass.

  • I agree, mixing Metal and xmas together is completely sellout-ish.

  • then you, like alot of other people, need to learn what it means to sell out.

  • I didn't say he sold out...I said it's sellout-ish to mix xmas and Metal. I think this music is good and it's Metal, I just don't like the religious themes behind it. Xmas albums are for Mariah Carey & Nsync, they're not for Metal bands.

  • ah, but metal is about doing what ever the fuck you want despite what any living person thinks. Metal is supposed to be about NOT following society norms dictations like christmas only being for certain people or groups. Something recent generations seem to have forgotten. These days it seems to be "metal" you have to follow certain dress codes, and rules which is exactly the opposite of what it's about. You can only sing about hate and satan so many times before it becomes tired and lame.

  • Selling out is doing something you don't want to simply to make a third party happy and get extra money. Thats all.

  • Yes, but sneaking in little nonMetal elements as a way of widening your audience is also selling out even if you're music is still dominantly Metal. I'm not accusing Halford of doing this, I just don't think Metal bands should be doing xmas albums, unless you're Stryper or something. You say singing about hate & satan gets old and lame after a while...well, I don't know too many Metal fans who get tired of that stuff...it certainly isn't a rule to have those lyrical themes, but xmas isn't Metal.

  • and again, what is or isn't metal is a matter of perspective. Metal is about doing what you want, if he wanted to release this album then it's as metal as it gets. The only thing that makes this album christmas at all are the lyrics and he's sung about far weirder things than christmas, have you ever listend to the lyrics for any early judas priest albums? The lyrics to vicitim of changes read without music sound like they would belong in a country song. It's the attitude, not the substance kid

  • The whole point of metal (simmilar to punk) is that you can do what ever you want and not give a fuck, but these days thats impossible if you don't wear certain clothing, sing about certain things, act a certain way, etc, then you're not "Metal" and thats a complete 180 from what metal is. People who think along those lines are the reason that all the popular bands today are more about their image and "sound" then the actual music.

  • By your standards anything would be Metal as long as people are doing whatever they want to do...that makes no sense. To me Metal should be 100% Metal 100% of the time, that's not to say that bands can't experiment or do ballads, as long as they are done in a Metal way...that is what matters. But there does reach a certain point where you stray a bit too far from the roots of what Metal is truly about...and very few people these days have a clue what it's about anymore...

  • And the roots of metal can be traced to earlier bands like Led Zep. Who used to sing about lord of the rings and dirty women while they dressed like hippies. I see what you're saying, but you're focussing on the word metal like it's one difinitive thing. Many bands don't dress like anything but your average band, take metallica or megadeth for example. T-shirts, jeans, thats it. Still metal.

  • Metallica aren't Metal anymore, no matter how hard they try to be, their Metal days are OVER...Megadeth, yeah...but only because Dave knows that's what the fans want to buy...I don't think his heart is in it like it was in the 80's.

  • As for image...image does matter...the music, the imagery, EVERYTHING plays a role in creating the magic that is Metal. If Priest went on stage looking like your everyday next door neighbor they might still be great musically, but it wouldn't be the same. A band's image should fit the sound of the music.

  • As for it not being the same, yes thats true but thats only because we are used to seeing them dress the way they do. There was a time where judas priest would take the stage with rob halford looking like a lounge singer from the 50's in a glittery gown looking thing. Look up any of the earlier tours.

  • Yes they are my favorite band, I know what they used to look like...but they still looked like a real band...long hair, flashy clothes, etc.

  • And no, by my standards you can't do what every you want and still be metal, but you can sing about whatever you want which is the only thing that seperates a metal christmas album from a metal album to begin with.again, it's about the attitude. You can sing about a dancer, it don't fuckin matter as long as the right attitude is there. Priest has song about homosexuality, being left by your girl friend, (or boyfriend) but it's only when it's xmas that peoplel think "jeeze, this just isn't metal"

  • There's nothing Metal about xmas, ....it's the antithesis of everything that Metal stands for. If you want to see Metal decorated with family-friendly bright happy colors, smiley faces and wrapped in a baby blue bow go ahead, but that's not Metal to me.

  • i agree !! completly

  • P.S. Dio's version of god rest ye merry gentelmen is one of the ballsiest metal tunes in existence, it's better in fact than over half of his recent album with sabbath.

  • I'm not anti-xmas, it just has nothing to do with Metal.

  • @maegan1981 this song isnt so much about religion, in fact its not. its about how he loves the holidays

  • Nice to see that HALFORD as a band is back! And of course it´s Jarzombek on drums! \m/

  • Is that Bobby Jarzombek on drums?

  • Is Rob a Christian? I'm kinda surprised he released a Christmas album haha, it still kicks ass though

  • Halford described his religious views as "I'm a heavy metal Christian".

  • He has been quoted as saying "I am a heavy metal Christian."

  • cante pelado inmortal carajo!!!

  • Does anyone have or have seen tabs for this song? I know it's not the most difficult but I'm not that good a player and by the time i do figure songs out(if at all) I'm sick of playing it. Thanks for any help!!

  • HAIL TO THE FUCKING METAL GOD !!!

  • Great, great, great....

Rob Halford is the only man who can give me true peace..

  • oddly I wish he did the songs in a more traditional way music wise. his operatic voice would sound so good with piano and strings and choirs, although I know not everyone would want to hear that.

  • most of the cd is traditional style very respectable of halford to show his religion and a christmas spirit

  • This shit is too badass

And then when he switches from the high range to the mid range and the piano in the background.. it just kills it... This is truly a HEAVY METAL CHRISTMAS!!! \m/ !!!! O_O!!!!!!!
