I think they're just tying in Love and Rockets , the comic book , with their connection to females in the Punk movement. Surely , the same could be done , later , regarding Enid's "Punk Day" in "Ghost World" (Eightball Comics). Nice to see Barbie Army , here. I used to go see them all the time in Chicago , and even tried to get a show with them. The bassist and I attempted to do a side project , as well.
Does anyone know the Band with Female punk/rock blonde singer. they had a video on Mtv in the 80's of her on a flaming bus. The band I thought was something mission, or something like that. Its racking my brain.
Truly great band, and "You" has to be near the top of the list for my desert-island 45. Never mind faux-dole-queue posturing, this was what punk was meant to be, a joyous celebration of awesome skronky noise.
If you like 'em be sure to check out WetDog (there's more than one but it's not too hard to spot the one I mean!), my faves since The Fall turned into dull rawk beer-boys.
Thanks for sharing funknroll. This is very cool. I guess over the years I was much more open to a band if they had a dude fronting it. I am now opening up to the idea and am discovering a lot of great music that I missed. Thanx again!
Love 'n rockets isn't a girl punk band......after Bauhaus split up the rest of the members (without peter murphy) went on calliing themselves love 'n rockets...
Ok if that's true...I stand corrected, because I didn't know that!!! But hey....I'm just a stupid dutch bloke...LOL.....Ow BTW: there was something I kinda missed (although they weren't an all girl band)...the early Siouxie Sioux (before her years of the new wave ice queen....) I do think she was kinda important too in those days!! Greetz.....
Brilliant stuff that I havent heard for many years. I had a Kleenex EP in the late 70's which has long disappeared. I first heard them singing this song "You" when I used to listen to John Peel every night 10 til 12 when still at school. Thanks for posting it!
The 3 backup singers in this video are an illustrious trio. They are: (L-R) Bobbi Brat (of L.A. punk band Red Scare, and later, a country singer herself), Kat Arthur (of Legal Weapon - one of the all time great lady punk singers), and blues vocalist Candye Kane.
excellent. covered a lot of women I would have expected most people to have forgotten about. a few suggestions to add to the list for a part 2 - mish bondage (sado nation), mary lou (generics), texacala jones (tex & the horseheads), larissa (l seven, laughing hyenas), the dishrags, honey bane, nina hagen...wow there were so many, every time I write one down I think of two more.. anyway, great job! enjoyed it very much.
Thanks for uploading another vid of the great band funknroll. You do a great service to music fans by sharing the great music the highly talented gals from Switzerland created. They're due for a revival and your vids serve as a small spark to that.
How about a "Ain't You/Nice" and "Heidi's Head/Wig-Wam" two-fer? :-)
Does anyone know if there's any footage of the innocents or wot happend to them? Saw them a couple of times then they dropped off the radar

"Love & Rockets" is an American indie comic made by Los Bros. Hernandez since 1982, about two hispanic punk girls in L.A.
The post-Bauhaus members took their name from the comic in 1985 but neglected to ask permission for the name.

excellent research and I like the use of popular culture representations such as Hazel O'connor
I understand that part 2 is coming so I realize there are many more to come.
Some that I think of are Superheroines, Sin34 and penetration.
