Well what a coincidence, been looking for this song for over 20 years, and finally found an album with it on just a couple of weeks ago.And then you post this.Great to listen to thanks.
Looked up the credited songwriters (Peter Udell and Gary Geld) and discovered they co-wrote Brian Hyland's classic hit, "Sealed With A Kiss", in addition to Brian's "Ginny Come Lately" and the Carpenter's "Hurting Each Other", all pretty fair tunes. Thanks for this one, Anthony; yet another quality post by you.
@oldiesrnow Their tune, 'Hurting Each Other' was recorded and released as a single by at least four different artists and each one is different a wonderful in it's own way. Jimmy Clanton on Mala in 1965. Ruth Lewis on RCA Victor in 1966. The Walker Brothers on their UK LP on Philips entitled 'Portrait' also in 1966 (this version is fantastic and should have been a single). Ruby and The Romantics on A&M in 1968. And of course, The Carpenters also on A&M from 1972.
@reichardtaj I like the Ruby and the Romantics version, but haven't heard the Walker Brother's rendition. And Jimmy Clanton's version doesn't do it for me; sorry, he seems uncomfortable with this style of music, just my very humble opinion. Thanks again, and keep 'em coming!
Always want to heard Geld-Udell songs. They were writing show songs before they did shows. Thank you!
