This is an incredible movie, any cinema fan should have seen it. 4 hours but no pause in it, no indulgency. Matters as love, identity, knowledge, truth, redemption are mixed in a brilliant and yet coherent final vision. I'd love to know the authors of classical music involved (apart from Bee VII.2), but they are in jap characters at the end of the movie and also on the site of the movie. Can anyone help?

I saw this last night. Its a good movie, but goddammit.. Four hours is a long time for any movie. I'd have thought the whole thing could've been trimmed down to about two. But as I said, its a good watch just long.

Perhaps most of the 13 year olds you hang out with do and their parents don't care that their children watch torture, rape, incest, murder, and hardcore sex. Young relatives of mine(under 15) and their friends don't watch this stuff and stick to Harry Potter and similar films.

If a 13 year old or any minor is mature enough to understand and handle taboo subjects, then I doubt viewing them will somehow negatively impact their life. Similarly, many people over 18 may very well be too immature and unable to handle stuff like that than some more mature minors.

I highly doubt that the taboo subject matter of a film would incline someone to do those bad things in it. There are likely many other more prominent factors that contribute to that. I agree that most people that young will be too immature to watch some movies like this, but you can't generalize them all based on that.
@turquoiseguy Alright perhaps you are right. I have the DVD and the film on my harddrive and the subject matter is not really suitable for under 16's. Even the main actors who are acting school children are actually 21 and 23 in real life.

@crunchkinsbigsister I asked the British distribution company Third Window films and they said the Japanese Film company won't allow the film to be put on blu ray for some reason. Sion Sono the director was also told by the Japanese Film company to edit the film to 4 hours.

Why is this now considered part of Sono's "Hate" trilogy with Cold Fish and Guilty of Romance? The film covers a range of emotions but it's overall a feel good kind of movie.

They probably figured Yoko wasn't in any danger of being un-hypnotized as she was a high level at the church. Also when Koike( church zero girl) joins the school anyone can see she is over 20 the actress Sakura Ando was 22 or 23 at the time and looks it. You never know, she could have looked 16 (not the actor, but the character) I know people that looked like they were 40 when they were 16, and in older american movies about highschoolers they often used actors that were clearly in their thirtys ;)
This film reminds me of something. Volcano High? Getting Any?? Arahan? Those offbeat films, not just from Japan, but China and Korea. My Sassy Girl im trying to find, i saw it being advertised long time ago, and now all i can see is a Hollywood remake *roll eyes*. Love this film from the trailer, the humour is just right! This movie is fucking overrated and sucks as hell lots,dont get me wrong i'd watched my fair share of Koran,Japs,Thai,Mainland and many other asian movies,but this movie...is just fucking weirdness to the max,its like u cant even predict what the film is going on,and is fucking overrated.totally waste my time,fuck u japs and ur weirdness

@YeoSuanMei geeze, dont be so rough on it, this movie is stupendous, if i think about it and what happens and what its about then it seems like a bad movie to me, but I love this movie, and most other people that watch this movie just tend to love it too, its not overrated, you are just underrating it.

@crunchkinsbigsister It is a good a film but to much empahsis is placed on the purile sex aspect of the film.
Near the end when Yu was in a mental ward the film was on a high. As soon he has seen Yuko and he get an erection. It's like a bad sex comedy.

Koike the female cult leader of church zero watching.
How can Church Zero actually afford such a big headquarters anyway and why would they let Yoko walk around town in a daze unaccompanied (just before Yu's friends took her the van)

@Raider577 people like to donate to them i guess....maybe members of the zero church donate lots. They probably figured Yoko wasn't in any danger of being un-hypnotized as she was a high level at the church. There was also a sex scene that was cut out on the beach, i htnk it was of Yu's father and Yoko's "mother"

@crunchkinsbigsister The sex scenes with Koike are on the undeleted scene clip on You Tube.
Also when Koike( church zero girl) joins the school anyone can see she is over 20 the actress Sakura Ando was 22 or 23 at the time and looks it. How could she get away joining a class of 15 or 16 year olds. I have the DVD at home(though only watched the film on TV) The Dvd has an hour long making of the film which should be interesting.

@Raider577 The other sex scene was one that Sion Sono mentioned on an interview about Love exposure. You never know, she could have looked 16 (not the actor, but the character) I know people that looked like they were 40 when they were 16, and in older american movies about highschoolers they often used actors that were clearly in their thirtys ;)

This film reminds me of something. Volcano High? Getting Any?? Arahan? Those offbeat films, not just from Japan, but China and Korea. My Sassy Girl im trying to find, i saw it being advertised long time ago, and now all i can see is a Hollywood remake *roll eyes*. Love this film from the trailer, the humour is just right! Anyone seen that Korean film that came out recently, it was called Mother. I think there was humour in that film but it was dark too! I just saw 13 Assassins, that was very gud

@icomeup2urKnees The Korean film My Sassy Girl has already been made by Hollywood(flopped) also been made by Japan and India .
I've seen 'Mother' the actor Bin Won is also in 'The man from Nowhere. I just need to watch this film' Love Exposure' which I bought about a month ago but haven't watched yet. It is the same director as'Exte' which I didn't think was that good.

@nobuta10 well, i am 14, and i hate inapropriate perverted stuff, but i love this movie much anyway, and it would be "pg 17 or something" i could list the bad/inapropriate parts, but that may be a bit of a spoiler.

this seems to be a good movie. although, i don't really get the plot. i mean, i dont understand why he needs to sin. being a christian is to be Christ like, which means be upright as you can and avoid doings sins. anyways, i'll watch it :D

@crossedfaked to satisfy his dad. His dad commits a sin and gets burnt. The father's view on the world changes and he assumes that everyone sin. The father's attitude changes and the son commites sin to get a reaction from his father.
