the ebony armor is better, but since your skill isn't so good, the game balances things out by making the rating lower. It makes sense, because with less skill you can't maneuver and make use of the armor's full potential without training.

ive done similar to what jesse does and note my guy has 40 lockpicking with no points into it, i got the expert door on my 2nd try and then the master chest on my 4th maybe jesse is just bad at lockpicking (lol jk) jesse save the game before you pick chests because if you arent happy with the ammount of lockpicks you used you can reload and retry :)

Jesse the elven armor looks better because the stat includes the bonus you get for being good at the light armor skill, plus you upgraded it at a workbench with a smithing perk that doubled the bonus an elven item gets when you upgraded it.

man you " helpers" suck balls. the fastest way to make money is enchant iron daggers with drain health, and armour/rings etc with fortify one handed. it raises three things in the process, enchant, smithing and speechcraft. soul gems have the best cost to weight ratio due to the shear amount of them

this keeps bugging me and i don't know if you've figured it out...but when you scroll over soemthing armor or weapon at the bottom of the screen is damage and in brackets it compares to the one you have currently...so you don't have to keep checking stats

It's not just better because he upgraded the elven armor. It's also better because he's been wearing light armor all game and his light armor skill is higher so light armor will him more defense in general than heavy armor.
