@creistre How can you even say that? I didn't even know TNAF but i just listened to it and it's just a bunch of screaming teenagers with a bunch of computerized sounds thrown in. Norah Jones' music is just beautiful, pure, clean and classy. How could this comment get 60+ likes on a Norah Jones video? Blegh.. I'm ashamed of humanity
@creistre The Naked And Famous are a product of our time and tastes. They're allowed to exist because bands like MGMT existed first, and they will fade from all memory when the music scene moves on. Norah Jones however, is timeless. Timeless beauty, in her looks, voice, and songwriting. Also, listen to how exact her live sound is compared to the studio. I bet if TNAF perform their song live, it'll sound nothing like their studio recording unless they add some serious overdubbing. Am I right?
@okLaptop1 tnaf are a great band live, and your argument is total bull. people like norah jones would not be able to make their (fantastic) music if not musicians in the 50s or even modern time musicians such as andrew bird or jack johnson did not pioneer the way. furthermore, mgmt did not lead the way of the indie movement, many other (better and more talented) musicians existed first such as interpol, plague park, and the national just to name a few. think before you write.
@poopwarrior8 I retract the live statement, my bad lol. Yes, everyone owes something to previous artists, I agree. You could argue that half of what exists now wouldn't without the Beatles. But I'm saying that while Norah is indebted to past work as well, it's past work that lasts and can be appreciated way past it's own timeline: case in point, you referred to the 50's for her inspiration. And I'm aware that MGMT aren't pioneers, but like Nirvana did to grunge, they made that sound mainstream.
@poopwarrior8 And also, I can guarantee you that in 10 years people will still be listening to and appreciating Norah Jones, and unless you were a hardcore fan, no one will really know who The Naked And Famous were. That's not to say that TNAF are bad, it's just that they don't make timeless music. Which was my original point. Maybe you should take your own advice and think before you write.
@okLaptop1 ill still listen to the naked and famous in 10 years as well as many other indie bands i like. its the same for other musicians who seem to fade or seem to have one hit wonders. sure, the regular will move on (i dont know how many people will still be listening to norah jones in a decade), but those who actually appreciated the music, will still listen to the old-time tracks.
I like this video. And seeing this song played like that, starting to like the song more. The video quality was great. Audio was superb. The guy saying at the end to Norah, My studio is your studio, and well he may, who would not after a performance like that. Only one beef. Wheres the interview?
