  • This is the perfect reason why x factor and Simon Cowell should be bombed off the tv. The guy who sang (???????????????) it on saturday seemed to lose control of his face. Cowell stop trying to promote these poor people as 'the most exciting pop stars in Britain today', just so you can exploit them more and cash in. This version is perfection, even better than Lennon's.

  • @stevecathutch

I agree, that guy totally made a mess of this beautifull song.

  • Ah, takes me back. Song is beautiful and i am sure, relates to many of us. The words are so true. In my humble opinion, Brian Ferry seems to perform this better than John Lennon. Maybe Mr Ferry can relate to it?

  • @johnart63

    I totallty agree

  • i know lennon wrote this song

props to lennon for a great song

but i love bryan ferry singing it

  • well a better cover than that adain twat on x factor!

  • @chrisbristol It's not a cover, this is his song.

  • @grobo11 this is a cover of John Lennon's 1971 release.

  • oh my god!!! where is mr ferry?? i want to marry him!!! love this song.he totally nails it.best version ever.such sexy teeth.xxxx

  • This is the better version!

  • where can you find the version by jimmy scott from the movie about the chelsey hotel in ny? I think thats the best version Iv'e heard

  • never trust a man with white shoes ...

  • I've always been torn as to which version I like better, being a huge fan of both. John's original is pretty special, but Roxy did the song justice.

  • He really made this song his own.

  • Easily the best version of this song, even though Lennon wrote it. Lennon doesn't have the soul in his voice like Bryan Ferry. And beautiful tone of Phil Manazera's guitar.........stunning song.

  • Beats Lennon in my opinion. Great cover.

  • @CheorkeeXP This is horrible. I don't know what's worse; the singing or the music... gotta be the singing. Just terrible!

  • better than lennon´s song

  • Think I'll stick to Mr. Lennon

  • does any1 know the exact meaning of this song? is he singing about physical abuse or he simply hurt sum1 emotionally? or is it just open for interpretation?

  • never heard Royx Music do this classic, but now that I have I must admit it sounds as good as the original, only different. Both spectacular John lives on in our minds if not our hearts

  • I remember Jelous Guy coming out from Roxy Music but this is the first time Ive seen the video, brilliant and the song was made for Bryan in this performance, what a great tribute to the great Lennon

  • j'aime beaucoup cette chanson

  • What a great song and performance, excellent. Brian is so original, a performer in his own right

  • it may be sacralidge but i actually prefer this to lennons version and i'm a bigger fan of john lennon than roxy music!

  • Lennon may not have realized that this song was written for Roxy. Maybe it's power comes from the fact that it is an elegy.

  • Thanks for zooming in on the guitarist's hands during the solo, camera guy, makes it easy to figure out what he's playing and play along with it.

  • Brian ferry the ultimate in 'cool'!

  • oh god this is terrible

  • nothin on john lennon but still amazing

  • odd paradox that Ferry looks like a fancy boy homo and a bad suave mother fucker at the same time.

  • solo il finale con Brian che suona il synth vale il prezzo del cofanetto deluxe...che classe!

  • I love this version...........Bryan's voice is so souful..........and enchanting to listen to.....

  • @cdalbers only a pot smoking impotent recluse needs to be reminded that john lennon died in 1980 therfore he could not have made a video about the A team, parachute pants, jerry curl, and a grueling decade of your pathetic existence.

  • he sure has straight teeth

  • j'adore cette chanson que de souvenir

  • luv this song reminds me of my childhood in the 80s xx

  • Good old times!!

  • I forgive you!!!

  • He is the only guy I know that can make white socks look cool but then again he makes everything look cool! He invented the word, Viva Roxy

  • Jerry Hall left him for Mick Jagger!!!!! What a dumb bitch!!!!

  • beeuuaahhhh this version is soo stinking. They should only apoligize to Lennon, and the video is one the most ridiculous i've ever seen.

  • Love this version of the song but hate looking at his car salesman face(and I am NOT a jealous guy)

  • @boomgone

I feel exactly the same way. I love this version but prefer not to look at Ferry. Surprising, I find him very very handsome, but in this video, not so much

  • @dreadOFdread Ferry's always been handsome, but during his "electric lounge lizard" years he began to lose control of his on stage/on camera charisma, effectively culminating in this rubbish clip. Also, he looks like he's coked/suffering from coke withdrawal in the clip of the band lip-synching "Angel Eyes', here on youtube.

  • sexy man.

  • heard someone on the radio say this was 'as the original, far more superior than the cover done by John Lennon'. Factually incorrect but correct as a sentiment. BF owns it - excellent and only version...........................

  • @TheMrSwoon Indeed so!

  • versione stupenda il finale è superbo

  • I also agree this vesion is much better than the original-sorry John!x

  • This craps all over the original John Lennon version. And so what if Lennon did write it? It just proves he wasnt a great artist....unlike Bryan Ferry. Respect!

  • @ImBigRich1970 Regardless of which version you prefer, if you think this proves Lennon "wasn't a great artist" you're an absolute idiot.

  • The video is ridiculous but i like very much this cover. More than the original

  • Who thinks the singer looks like an over dramatic actor ? I got distracted by the dudes face . But other than that this song is Good . The original was a bit better though , just a tiny bit [meaning A LOT] but thats just my opinion .

  • love john lennon, but this version is so much better...love it

  • Anyone who says this is so better than the original needs to understand that when an artist chooses to cover a song, they are giving an immense complement to the original composer. It has to be a great song to begin with for them to even want to cover it. Also, the singer is good and obviously professionally trained, maybe opera (that ridiculous vibrato!!) but whoever directed this video needs to rethink the creepy face shots and cheesy turn to face the camera scenes used over and over again....

  • Maybe pop music wasn't better then but when I think of what we have now I don't know what to say.

  • The singers mouth can barely contain his teeth.

  • soooo much better than the origional, lennon and the beetles are way over rated.

  • @pixmafia yeah they only have sell 1000,000,000 copies worldwide way overrated.

  • @WallAlfyan i couldnt give a toss how many they have sold, often they have been given the genius status, most of there songs were the product of a drug induced stooper so not the work of a genius. there is not a musical artist in the world who will ever carry the genius tag as none of them are worthy of the title. that term should be reserved for those who make advances in the world for the collective good. not for some twat who strings a few words together and sticks it to music.

  • @pixmafia Doing good unto the collective has little to do with genius, nor does writing nice tunes. There is no such thing as a genius, anyway, applying that word to a whole person is ridiculous. Genius relates to thoughts, accomplishments and one's disciplines, but to call an individual a genius is ridiculous, whether it be Gandhi, Einstein or Mozart. That's not to say the music of Mozart wasn't genius, though, just that Mozart himself shouldn't be called a genius- that's not good grammar.

  • ...I was dreaming of the past and

    my heart was beating fast...

Isn't that representative of the majority here?

  • @zzz1980zzz at this hour ..yes...

  • I've heard an amazing version by Rod Stewart and the Faces doing this..... Much prefer that version over any other :)

  • God , has it been almost 30 years since John was murdered ?

  • So many people prefer this to the original.

  • I this has drug abuse with the sax

  • Woohoo! I've had this song stuck in my head all day since I heard it on the radio this morning, I knew the original was by Lennon, I couldn't figure out who did this cover though.... This is sensational.

  • ProTip: Sounds best if you don't watch the video.

  • Great song, amazing.

Nothing beats the 80's, and I dont reckon anything in the future will either.

  • Great song. Looks like hes constipated though.....

  • near 30 years since john died i.v never got over it when i hear jealous guy it always bring me too tears like its is doing right now .

  • @duxberry1958 HI, I'M SORRY, BUT I JUST READ YOUR ENTRY...AND I HAVE TO SEND YOU A HUG....xxxx

  • Thankfully those of us with sufficient intelligence can appreciate BOTH versions. Unfortunately some people aren't up to this.

  • carnt get my head round people sayin this is better than john lennon - fort id better check it out and turns out john has been murdered twice

  • I know, were kool

  • Comment removed

  • I hate to say this but Roxy Music's version is miles better than John Lennon's - and Lennon wrote it!

  • this is stunningly good!!!! but, c'mon guys, lets face it, nobody tops john.

  • @PAULisDEADMANnumber9

    Word :) .

  • @SpaceTasteMedical but its a great homage, to one of the most influential artists, ever.

  • roxy music

  • great vocals,a guitar solo. a sax solo? what more could anyone want?!

  • He did John Lennon proud with this version.

  • This really has a unique sound all of its own.

    PURE retro.

  • Pure Class enough said!

  • Oh Brian, you do it for me every time! Mr Cool, or what?

  • i love it

  • Top song means a lot to different people

after seeing him live in Apollo Glasgow with my first luv M.C from Ruchaize

i became the jelous guy back in 80s

  • No, really, Brian, hurt me again, I'm all yours.

  • I think this version is more 'musical', but there's a bit more pain portrayed with lennon.

  • Yeah it is better than the original.

  • mojito night arrangements....

  • Superb cover (Roxy make it their own) and a fitting tribute to the recently departed Mr Lennon.

  • Brian Ferry can make any song sound "more" interesting.......Love this version...

  • Complete disgrace to the lennon mind. How could this git make such a crap cover of a great tune?NOOOOOOOOOOOO you freaking GIT

    Terrible cheesy guitar riff....ohhh girl

  • @Gunner530000 Number One is seven countries speaks for itself.

  • Thanks for the clip. Love Bryan.

  • Pure Class

  • Simply Majestic.

  • Going to see a tribute band on Saturday, my albums stuck in the loft. Iv forgotten how good this group is. Got to buy the Cd's especially Avalon and Flesh and Blood. It just takes me back. Absolutely brilliant. Hope the Tribute dont let me down.

  • I can just listen to this song again and again.

Its something about Ferry's voice and just the whole song in general.

There's some kind of emotion there that just gets to me.

  • Big Bryan Ferry fan for 30 years.

I have always preferred this version of Jealous Guy. What a great song. Makes me wanna cry and I'm a 42yo man.

  • @BIGINSF me to, but what a great song

  • Agreed this is far superior to the Lennon original. More smooth and stylish. Gotta love that sax solo. Bryan Ferry is clearly a better singer also.

  • mumm how do you swallow pain?

Thats what i asked my mum when i was 5 lol

    great song. great cover

  • listen to it everyday

  • this is better then john lennon

  • @holland787 yeah, i agree. i actually heard this version years before the Lennon one. Lennon's is a bit flat and hard

  • @LollieSmith how the FUCK is your 'comment' possible when Lennon wrote it and recorded it FIRST!!! Take your head out day azzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @Argos357 Roxy improved on it! I didn't build my house but it looks the best its ever looked and the value has increased

  • @Argos357 Maybe you should get your head out of your own "azzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz." Just because he heard one version first doesn't mean he's saying it was made first. Retard. He's simply saying that he hadn't heard Lennon's original until after he heard the cover.

  • Roxy Music - More Sexy, John Lennon - More Sorrow... both ways they are top tunes.

  • great cover

  • You can't beat a good sax solo!!! And this one is very fine indeed...

  • ooomg

I liustened to tjhis version sooo m,any times along w/lennon's one..but omg ahahaaahahh this guy is aahaahhh ahah uhuhu!hella funny

  • Yeah this is better than Johns.

  • I also am one of those who like this version much more than the original. Thanks for sharing.

  • @roblesr me too! i love this

  • @roblesr I like Roxy music alot ! , I like this version, but its not touching as Lennon's

  • @mobyboy Personally I think John Lennon sounds like a little kid in his version. Roxy's sounds soulful, sexy and apologetic. John's is ok...just prefer Bryan!

  • @prairiecreamcakes I so agree!

  • @roblesr Me too

  • @roblesr I do aswell x

  • I had the Pleasure to meet Bryan,at Detroit Airport, In The AAdmirals Club, even in this settiing, He was in a Elegant Suit and tie! Very Much A gentleman, And we spoke for a Moment, and He took time to sign, a Autograph, and a little more chat, before he had to leave...

Total Class Act ! Nobody Touch's Him, Never Will !

  • OK mrgumby, get your facts straight. This song is not "stereotypically 80s", more like 70's. That type of song is "stereotypically bitter"!

  • its a matter of personal taste i personally know this song better than John Lennons version, and i much prefer this one,it was recorded as a tribute to lennon and as such is very good if you dont like it go to the John lennon version and watch that nuff said

  • Bad ass song, bu I personally think that John Lennon's version i way better

  • Great song!

  • The ending of this song is so much better then John Lennon

Finally a good voice instead of a fag

  • He looks like Justin Bieber and Declan Galbraith, but in a older version... lol good song though.

  • this was horrible! and extremely fucking creepy! i'm glad john lennon was dead when this video was released so he didn't have to witness it.

  • @Dangalls3

No this was a classic and improved version on Lennon's original, which to be quite honest sounded like a dog being beaten off a wall, it certainly lacked any ooomph. The sax solo and guitar rhythms on this are first class. To the guy who said 'wft is this' - what hole have you been living down the past 30 years?! Oh right, you're American, that explains it.

  • @sully1865 the song is supposed to be sincere, not something that has a lot of oomph. and

  • @sully1865 and its not supposed to be sung by a pedophile

  • @Dangalls3

What do you mean by pedophile?! And by oomph i mean great harmonies and body to the song, something that Lennon's version lacks. Lennon wrote a great song, Roxy just perfected it. Deal with it.

  • wtf is this?! this guy blows

  • Not even close to Lennon. Reminds me of Pee Wee Herman. Only creepier.

  • this guy stinks! john was way better

  • @jazzman551 you stink

  • @jazzman551 you are the only one who has a good mind. we are the only ones who speak for lennon!

  • @Gunner530000 the only reason this guy even covered this song is because he coudlnt write one as good as this

  • @jazzman551 so tue, jazzman, so true

  • i love bryan ferry!

  • Regis diz linda musica!! moca s.sp.........

  • I love the 80's so much cant wait for ashes to ashes to be back on friday :D

  • @hannahbeckymatthew

this iwll be treh 3rd tome ive listened to thins in and hour lol :D i cant help i tho :D

  • Who's dis guy the BUTCHER'R of songs

who takes a Beautiful John Lennon song & rapes it of every musical quality of it's existance

  • I know I know, John got shot so most people are all emotional but Bryans version is better than the Lennons. Hands down. No comparison. Kinda like Cash's Hurt is better than NiN. Now I opened the gates.

  • @DeSadeTO

    muppet

  • Great tribute to the late legend.

  • I agree with sargesw. The musicianship is solid but the sincerity of the original is nowhere to be found. Plus, ironically, this version sounds much more outdated than the ten years older version. It just smells of the 1980s. With all due respect to nostalgic 80s kids (including myself), this version is a pathos-filled but sterile cover. Which holds for the videoclip as well. Peace.

  • I give it to Windex and the great reflections....Who make's this guy's suits...gotta get me one.

  • esta music a e maravilhosa

  • both bri an john good artists but bri slightly bettr looking

  • they both dead so why bother

  • Comment removed

  • I Saw Roxy Music in 1971 at The Hollywood Palladium on Sunset BLVD. Eno and Brian Ferry where fantastic I still have no idea what kind of costume Eno had on for the show so cool what en evening! Thanks......

  • VIVA ROXY!!!!

  • The thing about Ferry and Roxy Music is that they loaded up the glam and hype with great art direction and stellar musicianship.

An emotional attachment to either version is understandably subjective.

Both say the same thing from a diffeernt perspective and to me it's the the perspective of class.

  • top song done well

  • can you smell that..? like gorgonzola

  • Interesting, this conversation.

It seems to me that Ferry's version is a tribute, essentially. I think he does a great job with this song, and McKay's sax is just right.

There is no need to denigrate either of these fine artists. Both versions are great.

  • Why do people like this version so much? I think it's a travesty. Firstly, John Lennon can't be topped. Secondly, saying that both versions are good in their own way doesn't cut it. I'm sorry, but that viewpoint is simply incorrect.

  • @mdraper90240 it came out as a song to john lennon i think not to sound better than him.

  • I think that by getting to no1 pretty much sums up just how good this cover version was.

John had a great voice and made some of the greatest songs of all time, but got to give it to my ferry he topped lennons version with his

  • Right, because popular music is always equal to being good music [sarcasm]. It seems, rather, that good music may sometimes happen to be popular. There are plenty of relatively non-famous artists who make amazing music.

  • have to agree with that guy who says that RM don't care about the song. This version is cheesy and fails to capture the emotion of the song. Just go back and listen to the original and feel what the song is about. then you will see why this version is so poor

  • OMG This song was Number 1 in America the Day i was born. March 23rd 1981 GOD THE 80's ere so Evil

  • Fantastic cover, but why did they not cover a Beatles song?

  • i have to say ! they are both great, 2 different feelings, 2 different voices, 2 different vibes=the 2 of the versions great

  • hey benjamindu73, this song was recorded before lennon died but realised after. both versions are great for different reasons

  • @tupelo64

Lennon wrote this beautiful song ten years before his death. RM played it first as a tribute to JL a few days after his death as an encore performance at a GERMAN concert. The rest as they say is history.

  • The sax solo is friggin' sweet!!!

  • beautiful Les Paul that Phil is playing

  • @benjamindu73 hey! fuck of
