  • I looping the slow part it's my fav-3

  • Not an easy piece...props to you guys!

  • @Janoski12 Thanks a lot!

  • i agree that the mallet player is probably the best one there.

  • @gifflagurl11 Yeah, that mallet part is insane at 6:45-6:55. :)

  • I always squeked at that same part when we play that in band lol. I've stopped now

  • 0:42 squeak!

  • mallet part is the bomb

  • Heck yeah.

  • to be honest, the mallet percussionist might be the most talented in the band :P

I am playing this tomorrow for my school's concert and I am really excited! (Loved the vibes part too :) )

  • who is this song by?

  • Gary Gilroy.

  • why does our clarinet section always have so much trouble with squeeking in the exact same places in symphonic band?

  • I have no idea. Tsk tsk, clarinets :)

  • haha, the clarinets...

  • 0:40 SQUEAK!!! D:< aaaahhhhrrrrr

  • favorite part of the song starts at 2:56

  • our wind ensemble played this as the finale at our last concert, and it was lucky that i wasn't sitting in front, otherwise i might have looked really odd, because i was nearly falling out of my seat from dancing along so much. not to mention my friend and i were laughing at how people thought it was over with every movement xD I was dancing even more afterwards! best concert ever!

you guys played it very well (except that squeaking clarinet ^^ no big deal)

  • WHY IS THIS VIDEO NO LONGER AVAILABLE?!? >=(

This is not good. Makes teh Colleen very very sad. Very sad indeed. =(

  • Hehe...ignore my comment. My computer was being stupid... ^^;

  • we played this last year for our final concert and i got to conduct because i was the drum major for marching season, and i never knew how small that podium was and i almost fell off conducting the 2nd movement because its so fun to conduct it. all your supposed to do is move your hands, but i couldnt help resisting dancing. hello!! four DANCE episodes.

  • Haha, You guys sound great XD Minus the squeaky Clarinet is Movement 1....>.>

Anyways, my Wind Ensemble is playing this for our festival this year. It like the 1st, 3rd, and 4th movements, so that should be fun...

  • aw thank you! yeah this song was really fun to play, we really enjoyed it. yeah that squeaky clarinet.. garr. xD it makes a great first impression doesn't it? hahah.

and that's great! good luck to you guys. if you can get video, i'd love to hear you guys. hearing a different version would be great.

    take care :)

  • Haha, I just looked back at that post... I think that's the last time I post at 4 AM. My spelling is a bit awry....

    I'll get a video if I can. =D

  • pshh don't worry about it. :P i could tell what you mean.

and i'm sure you were typing so quickly with excitement from the music that you just didn't notice. >_>

    hahah! and awesome. :D

  • Very nice to see Pickerington North's Symphonic on such a good piece. WE (nahs wind ensemble) are doing this for OMEA districts.

  • thanks! we enjoyed it. it was fairly simple, but very enjoyable to play and listen to. i know i loved it. :)

unfortunately, we're not doing this for OMEA, we're doing Lincolnshire Posy by Grainger and the Pathfinder to Panama by Sousa. and maybe another song.

but the best of luck to you guys! :D

  • EEEEEGH!! Who kept squeeking?! OHGAWD. I can still se Mr. P's eyes rolling at us. XD Did you notice how he slowed waaay down in the part after Kay's solo at 4:30ish. That threw everyone off, it seems. Same thing at just before 3:00, though not quite as slow. I hear what he was talking about when he said we was worried about our tone quality. And HOMG. We all need to work on our note precision.

lol... 3:20 percussion---...*TROMBONESPLAT* tweet tweet, duh dah!

  • Previous post is identical to myspace post for posterity's sake. And you know exactly how much posterity I have. >_>

Ooooooh... thar's a neat clicky thing that links you to that very time that is states. Spiffy. Why didn't I notice this before?

...Horns owned from 6:00 to the very end! Never mind. They rocked the whole thing! And no squeeking either.

The end is sososososososo freaking EPIC.

  • haha love the critique angeline. <3

yeah the squeaking clarinet was probably the most noticeable downfall (other than the bad tone quality in the crescendo at the end, that is.), but it happens. :D clarinets squeak sometimes.

and that's not a trombone splat! that's a horn and it's SUPPOSED to honk there. you silly. :D

    *just to clear that up.*

    hahah. <3
