Coming from someone who almost always plays on PS3 and only uses his Xbox for exclusive titles, I can safely say sound quality is basically identical. Though something about the PS3 makes it kind of annoying to use a mic, it doesn't sound worse, but harder to set up sometimes. And far less people have mics, from what I can tell, or I just don't run into people as much with them. Quality wise though it's identical.

There is no different when it comes to mic quality on PS3&360 - I've owned both consoles .. The only game I've actually seen a change in quality is MW3 and they were supposed to fix the quality of mics in that back in Jan and for some reason hasn't done so.
