  • imagine se mozart tivesse vivido mais trinta anos!

  • Great! But i prefer mozart just a tad faster

  • Maravilhosooo!!

  • Danke, habe Link gesetzt

  • I.m not so sure you have to bew an austrian but the likes of Ingrid haebler, Gulda, Brendel who were all born viennese make a good case. what you always get is solid , artistic performasnces and kartl Böhm is certainly no excpetion

  • Well, it needs an Austrian conductor to understand the music of an Austrian composer. Bohm was a true Mozartian.

  • Maestro Karl Bohm, THE most underrated great conductor of them all; this is sublime music making, The man was one of the very few who "got" Mozart!

  • A work of art that would have been "up to date" even if it had been written 20 years later...

  • @lehar Mozart single-handedly destroys the myth of progress and the chronological snobbery it breeds. Speaking of which, alas, it's very rare today to find someone who hasn't bought into this wretched myth and its blasted chronological snobbery.

  • verry good!

  • Nos encanta Mozart

  • I thank God Mozart (and alike) were born, otherwise we would be stuck with contemporary pop crap, not nowing true musical art.

  • Meesterlijke uitvoering! (En dat Star Trek The Original Series decor nemen we op de koop toe)

  • Bohm -

    Harnoncourt +

  • This is a masterpiece. Mozart achieved with this symphony what Beethoven achieved with Eroica, both symphonies true expressions of genius!

  • Music to my ears :) Wonderful

  • @pettymolly a little redundand

  • @pettymolly music to everyone's ears lol :P

  • Karl Böhm is much better then Karajan

  • @mcsing =)

  • @mcsing True.

  • I love the high E-flats that the violins have in the Allegro when everyone else drops out.

  • Very nice !! I love it :) Mozart is one of the best Classical Musicians :)

  • @Raed103 He IS the best classical musician (classical period).

  • omg!

john travolta plays the violin o_O min 3:30

  • ups! there are 10 votes down here... I wasn't aware that monkeys can use computers in these days...

  • Greatest composer of all times. Loved the late symphonies 38, 39, 40 & 41

  • I am deeply moved. This symphony is perhaps my most favorite symphonies out there. This symphony, in Charles Hazlewood's words(and I agree) shows us that you can't have joy without suffering, terror without consolation. As a child, I liked Mozart. As a teenager, I loved Mozart. As a adult, well, there are no words to describe my love for his music.

  • Sorry, but this piece has not been played better. I'm sure nothing is beyond criticism, but seriously, how can you improve on this? I want to hear it!!!

  • Mozart´s greatest symphonies are withoiut any doubt

no. 40 in g minor and no. 41 C major "Jupiter"

  • @pepakake27 Ye screw Prague woteva...

    This after Prague for me.

But I'm sure it's all a matter of taste...

  • Such a powerful symphony.

  • never too many basses

  • I'm deeply moved. Perhaps this is my favorite symphony, despite many others by Mozart, Schubert's 4th, 8th, and 9th, Beethoven's Ninth, Chaykovsky's 5th and 6th, and Skryabin's First Perhaps I should add Mahler's Ninth, Beethoven's Sixth, Bruckner's Ninth, who knows. But just pay attention at 1:50 and thereafter, and to 3:20 and thereafter. It takes my breath away.

  • Try to listen to symphonies of Shostakovich: especially 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th,10th and 12th

  • @Kobzar3374 you kind of forgot Sibelius in your little list there....

  • @Kobzar3374 I agree with you on every count, and I salute you! This particular symphony soars to the heavens.

  • I love the authentic instruments movement and normally I would find this sort of performance to be totally anachronistic. But Bohm' Mozart interpretations are always so beautiful I never really care.

  • The timpanist may have the timps backwards, seeing as that is how the German school organize it.

  • Hmm 6 double-basses, isn't that a little too much?

  • @glantz91 no, rock and roll!~!~~ baby

  • Does the timpanist have the drums organized "backwards"???

  • i wish i was that dude, ha

  • Magnífica interpretación. Cuantas sinfonías marivillosas hubiera podido escribir si no hubiera muerto tan joven...

  • Es cierto; pero también es verdad que así fue siempre joven Su música suena siempre joven. Suponemos que habría seguido siendo así aunque hubiera alcanzado los 90

  • I like the tempo that the orchestra took with this movement. And something about the white background with the only colors being the green stage and the orchestra makes it seem very dreamy to me.

  • Great Bohm!

  • This is really hard to play on the clarinet i am stuggeling in orcestra!!!

    Good vid!

  • good music!!!!!

  • then dont listen to it. mozart can do so much more than u. and that was a great sympony so STFU and GTFO

  • hello again

  • Learn how to spell "when"...and "you're".

  • Karl Boehm is probably the most revered conductor of Mozart ,and here you see/ hear why; teamed with the VPO you know you've got a winner :-) Enjoy!

  • the intro sound better slower imo

  • The hideous modernist set is unfortunate. But the music is of course sublime.

  • Of Course Karl Bohm = Mozart interpreter!

  • moiar genio musical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THANKS POSTING!

  • long live mozart,what a nice symphony

  • The damn trumpets need to take it easy in the opening...it's not fortissimo...its forte!Youre not playing wagner:as much as you might wanna be fellas...!

  • It's impossible to play Wagner with that orchestra.

  • Beauty in the truest sense of the word! What a wonderful gift Mozart's music is.

  • Estoy asombrado con esta interpretacion! Es increible y tambien me gusto la puesta en escena, con ese tapete verde, es precioso.

  • perhaps best symphony ever written.

  • Henry Mazer used to tell TPO so as well.

  • Dear Aapton,

you are right, to me, this IS the most beautiful symphony,

there is so much behind the notes, a work of magic.

Here the divine composer has succeeded in bringing the

music of heaven to earth, to let all people enjoy this.

    A great gift to humanity!

  • interpretación y dirección imponente

  • Such a magisterial opening!

  • Not quite the splendour or the sumptuous sound of the Musikvereinsaal! The VSO look like Vienna poor relations as this appears to have been recorded in a corner of a shopping mall. Anyway, many thanks shostakk for you wonderful Mozart/Böhm videos

  • Boehm as the Mozartian par excellence. The contrasts of tension and relaxation in the lst. movement are extreme even for Mozart and B. exploits them to the fullest.

  • What a sparkling performance of the 39th symphony! Karl Bohm's interpretations of Mozart are among the best in the world. I wish I could find this on CD.

  • so crisp!

  • good interpretation

  • It's hard to find another 39th as good as Bohm's who was a natural Mozartian. Perhaps' Vegh, or Menuhin? But i will settle for this. sd goh (malaysia)

  • excelente!!!!
