  • Yep. Clarence White, not too shabby.

  • I always preferred skip battin

  • I saw John York with the Byrds....and he WAS great. I emphasis the word WAS.

  • In my opinion, The Flying Burrito Brothers were a far superior band to the Byrds because with them Parsons and Hillman truly gelled together. Its a shame they did not last that long.

  • When Chris Hillman left, the magic of Byrds choirs also left. Hillman had managed to work out harmony vocals like Crosby. He took his talent to the Flying Burrito Bros. The 1970s Byrds maybe were a better live band but I missed the beautiful vocals ever since.

  • Hillman mainly departed because the Byrds' shady management at this time was totally ripping him and McGuinn off, and he wanted to withdraw his remaining share of the money from the band's account before it was gone. He took the cash and bought land in New Mexico. McGuinn wound up losing all of his share by staying.

  • Gene Parsons, the band's third drummer, and John York, the second bassist.

  • The Byrds kept on flying - no matter the band members. Plenty of talented musicians were in The Byrds lineup over their many years. And - plenty of music groups were spun off from The Byrds.

  • I always thought that John York was the best harmony singer R. McGuinn had after the original Byrds.

  • You are exactly right.
