@halston214 . Thanks. I dont quite understand what you mean by fabric but the whole boat is covered in layers and layers of chopped strand matt fibreglass matting. Hope this helps.
Just checked out this vid, can only imagine the time and energy that you must have put into it. Congrats on an incredible boat and awesome quality of work. And congrats to your partner for putting up with all the time in the "garage".
@shannannichols oh yeah... and as for my partner laura,( pictured with me in the credits at the end) she was, and still is just the best any guy could ask for.. Check out my part 2 as well cause it has a couple of small water test videos too.
@Leeso2011 Cost for the hull alone was about $8500.00 including paint. I didnt have any plans at all, just a quick sketch I did of the finished boat. I used light hardwood rails for lines and stapled 3mm ply to hold form for glass layers. Layers of 12mm ply for transom areas with resin in between. 12mm floor. Round the edges of your timber before laying glass and resin on, and hand sand with 40 grit between layers. Prep your timber with a brush coat of resin prior to layers of matt. Good luck.
@ferny460 cheers ferny.... really appreciate it. Check out my 'part 2' video and you can actually see it in action during the water testing. Thanks again.
great looking boat! im going to build a simple fishing boat soon and i noticed it looked like you filled the hull with foam. what kind of foam did you use?
@maximusleonitis thanks mate. I just used recycled polystyrene (excess from a building site that they use in concrete ) . I found out that 1 cubic metre of the stuff will support 1 tonne in water. I have about .7 of a cube in mine so thats about 700kg of flotation. Good luck with your project.
@007Aquamann Thanks Aqua... It sits on the trailer (240kg) and with the 130HP motor (200kg) now at exactly 1 tonne, so that would make the hull with all the fittings ( windscreen, fueltank, bimini top, anchor, steering, etc etc etc exactly 560kg. ( and as strong as an ox )
@kealshas42 .... thank you mate. Find someone to teach you the basics of fibreglassing and its not that hard to learn. It is hard work though on a project this size. Maybe start with something smaller. Good Luck.
Is it just fiber glass or is there like cloth or some type of material under it because i have heard of people doin that?
