In what way was it terrible? Normally if you stand at the front the bass can be overpowering but it's a trade off between sound in the rest of the field and sound at the front. I thought the sound at Glasto this year was much better and certainly excellent for Massive Attack, but I wasn't at the front. All sounds great on the BBC video, which I wouldn't mind paying for if it came out on DVD because it's really good.
It was terrible in the way that you find it hard to breath because of it, and the security were handing out earplugs at the front... It would sound great on the BBC video, because it comes straight out of the sound desk.
"It was terrible in the way that you find it hard to breath because of it,"
Yes, that's what bass does! It shifts a lot of air, if you are standing right in front of some very big bass speakers (or at least lots of them) then all the air in front of you is being pushed toward you which gives the impression that there's a lot of weight on your chest. Very low frequencies can do some odd things. Only way around it. Don't stand at the front. As for earplugs - health & safety.
"Dear Robert Del Naja & Grant Marshall, please please please can you stop suffocating me with bass every time I try to listen to your popular beat combo 'Massive Attack'. Thank you, Mrs Disgruntled of disgruntled land."
The sound on the BBC video does not just come from the sound desk either, if it did it wouldn't sound so good. They have microphones placed around the site, that's why you can hear sections of the crowd very loudly over the music in places.
But most of it comes from the sound desk, They only have mic's over the site so you can hear the croud. 9 times out of 10, the mics are pointing away from the speakers, and have muffle pads over them, so you can't hear the sound from the band through them.
Watch more of Massive Attack's set on the BBC GLastonbury website in top quality ... go to Line Up and find Massive Attack on the Other Stag on Saturday night ... enjoy!
Yeah for 1 week, then it dissapears why dont you instead just show the full concert instead of repeatedly showing mainstream stuff. You use to show full length concerts in the past after the event so can you do that please bbc

"Absolutly quality. Pyramid stage next year :D"
I hope not. The other stage is normally much better, lights, sound, everything. It's also a lot easier to get to a good place to view the band.
