  • Saul Williams & Blackalicious are all way underrated.

  • 6:50 and on is off the hook. So is the rest of the song but that's my favorite part anyways

  • ..one of my favorites! just love it!

  • The spoken word part is the truth!

  • the voice shouting 'release' on the first part is RATM right?

  • @AlexOffTheDome well ya its Zack de la Rocha which is the singer for rage. so your right but the whole band isnt involved:p

  • Love this track, Love TRUE hip hop, and....I've been trying to find The Netherworlds CD with Anacron and Murs.

  • @ViceJam ...just thought I'd throw that last part in there. haha

  • Blackilcious & the whole Quannum crew put

down info in a book, bout the artform of

being a true MC, has loads of the illest guys in it, title-is-

    ...:: H :,.O :;,.W. ,, .. ;T:O ;.. ..:R..,A ..:P,,.

    well worth the read

of that book, so much insight in there

  • what is this bullshit

  • @THEHAUNTEDKNIGHT244 you can go now

  • Such a great song, but it gets old having to skip over william's awful and random 5-minute spoken word bs.

  • @secretpictures that's too bad, the spoken word is one of my favourite parts of the song...although I agree that maybe it would have made more sense to be at the very end.

  • Can i get the lyrics @_@

  • @iCantEditBro lmgtfy[dot]com/?q=Blackalicious+Release+Pt+1%2C2+and+3+lyrics

  • keep the mainstream for those who want it,

    this is what WE need.

fuck the industry, keep it underground.

  • Saul Williams part is simply amazing, but lets not EVER sleep on that verse Gift opened this song up with.. can we say RHYME ANIMAL?!?!!?

  • dude...when stoned, the first one knocks you into submission with intensity...then the second song comes in to make you think and ponder the meaning of everything...then the third one makes everything in such a positive vibe with that funk. god damn my favorite smoking song of all time. and even the chorus of the 3rd song is motivational. leaves you on a positive *high* note. fuck yeah blackalicious...fuck yeah

  • That Saul Williams part gets me every time

  • Am primarily a hard rock and blues fan, but as also a hip-hop fan I think it's such a tragic misconception that people think hip-hop is what they show you on MTV: wannabe thugs and party songs with idiotic lyrics, and while that also has its place under the sun, a prime example of hip-hop is THIS and not THAT.

It's worse than shitty pop-punk and rock bands the mainstream feeds us, because at least people know that isn't the real deal, but they do make that mistake with hip-hop :(

  • @MarkArandjus Its all True Bro!!!

One of the truest comments on YT I seen for a while...Sad but true..

  • true that

  • @MarkArandjus Hmm, what would you say is good hip-hop? I'm primarily a rock, metal fan. So I don't really know what is good hip-hop... but this is pretty good.

  • @marlenebentley1989 I'd say anything not about stupid materialistic lyrics and vanity - good hip-hop usually tells a story, conveys a message or is just fun to listen to.

A few songs you oughta check out are Run-DMC's Peter Piper and Run's House, C.I.A. by Zack de la Rocha&Krs One&Last Emperor, Saul Williams - Bloodletting, Ini Kamoze - Here Comes the Hotstepper, Beastie Boys - Three MC's and One DJ, RATM - Maria

RATM are THE best fusion of rock and hip-hop, become a fan if you're not already!

  • @MarkArandjus Tnx for your reply. I appreciate it. I love RATM, possibly my fave band because of the deepness of their lyrics. I'll definitely look into these guys you mentioned.

  • Part 2 does it for me. some of the best lyrics ive ever heard. i can think of nothing heavier than an areoplane, i can think of no greater conglamarite of steel and metal i can think of nothing less likely to fly.... and then the beat drops and that little string bit kicks in. awesome

  • 1 dislike are you kidding me

  • If you like real hip hop like this. look up UK artists M9 Triple Darkness, Akala, Swiss, Klashnekoff.

  • @DefWish ... BET has nothing to do with this. This is art being made.

  • @maitreya9ify

Agreed, but I think when I wrote that comment, I was angry about that network censoring good music, or something like that.

    Meh. You're right though :/

  • I thought this was featuring Lyrics Born.

  • we the name of the music 1minutes until 45 seconds?

  • @TheKrisz07 I think it's called... Release?

  • Through meditation i program my heart beat to beat break beats and hum bass lines on exhalation.

  • I can think of nothing heavier than an airplane

I can think of no greater conglomerate of steel

I can think of nothing less likely to fly

Damn.... something about that line gets me everytime

We need to find a whole new genre for all the bullshit that's on the radio, because THIS is hip-hop.

  • @killerbee206 yeah me two... i cant stop thinkin of aircrafter carriers.

  • @hcasperk Aircraft carriers are a boat, Dude.

  • @Ifkinloveyou well yeah, i know. i CAN think of something heavier than an airplane, i CAN think of a greater conglomerate of steel and metal, i CAN think fo something less likely to fly .... AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER.

  • Jesus Christ, this is so good. Looking for some rap recommendations if anyone has some -- I've tried a lot of the common underground hip-hop suggestions like Aesop Rock and Jurassic 5 but no one seems to do it for me like Gab does.

  • @SlipkPie if you haven't already, you definitely wanna try some MF DOOM.

  • @SlipkPie Blu, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Evidence, Kev Brown, Hezekiah, Nitty Scott MC, Jean Grae, Asheru, Kenn Starr, One Be Lo, Del The Funkee Homosapien, Binary Star, Little Brother (Phonte), Ohmega Watts, Othello, Sivion, Skyzoo, Torae, Cy Young, Grap Luva, Substantial, Tanya Morgan, Masta Ace, Foreign Exchange, Braille, Supastition, Elzhi, K-Os, AZ, Termanology, Immortal Technique, Pac Div, Dr. Octagon, Cymarshall Law, Bahamadia, Celph Titled. Look to Oldschool too. Leaders of the New School, Nice n Smooth, Too Poetic, Stetsasonic, Slick Rick etc. There's lots of forest beyond the trees.

  • incredible. I wish all rap was like this.

  • Part 2 is really powerfull but part 3 is just such a great groove! =D

  • lol, who the fuck cares about lil wayne? Seriously man, get your head out of your arse....

  • Really, who the fuck gave this a thumbs down?

  • God Saul is incredible

  • Dawg lil wayne isn't an emcee, he is a rapper. Now why should we listen to his industry-ass freestyling, refusing to write, refusing to be a true part of hip-hop?

  • Damn that first part is amazing so reminds me of the Blackberry Torch 9800 commercial fucking awesome.

  • Good God, Saul Williams is right in the middle of this song which is fitting because he's the heart of it.

  • props to DJ Funkutal to introducing me to this sick trilogy

  • yo i wanna c da video for this i heard they was flying to each other

  • wow

  • Part 2... oh god

  • part 1 rocks!!!

  • This track never gets old. Immense stuff!

  • Love this track!

  • omg i finally found it..it took me 4 years to refind this song. i googled.."saul williams tree poem" LOL it worked. part 2 speaks to me like no other

  • This song is so fuckin good, especially if you're stoned.. the pause in the middle then the pick up fkin soothing..sick song

  • second part is my fav., deep stuff

  • I'm listening to part 3 with my Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. All I can say is- WOW! I love Blackalicious. Great rap duo. I wish there were more Roots & Blackalcious groups out there and less Lil Wayne & 50 Cent garbage.

  • part 2 is best i reckon

  • part two cracks

  • This shit is soooo hard!

  • This is the path rap music was meant to go down. BET can never amount to this.

  • to bad fags like lil wayne fucked it up.

  • yes im so jelous of lil waynes lack of talant. and id rather listen to country music then him. + me being able to freestyle has nothing to do with his rapping ablilities, i dare him to take on the gift of gab

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck Lil Wayne, why?

Cause He got NO SKILLS and probably country was be a better Music to he, to dill with...

  • @7PietroNe1
