It works, granted any moron should have been able to figure out this them selves, but you can only play in the TV mode setting on your xbox cable, meaning you'll still only be playing in 480p aka, not true HD. Don't get me wrong, it's 10 times better than just regular SD and if you don't have a HDTV you're golden, but if you do, it still pales in comparison to 720p HD.

Also; youtube supposedly allows 720p video now, and even if I were to only upload an SD copy, you want the absolute highest quality source input you can get.

That wouldn't work, because if you set the component cable to HD. The composite (Yellow, Red, White) can't transmit a signal to your capture card. You'd have to play in SD and record in SD the way you've suggested.

@davidtroub yeah but hte only problem with me it's that my bedroom tv teh hdmi port is hdmi/dvi so if oyur port is hdmi/dvi it willl probably not work and if the port is only hdmi it should work.
@gary72carol61 this is not for capturing in hd, it's for playing in hd and the $20 was implied as extra spending on top of the cap card purchase which you would need to capture video either way.

This isnt going to record in HD. Sure you can PLAY in HD, but you need a capture device that records in HD which will cost about 3x the amount of a dazzle.

the problem is this only enables you to play in 4801 HD which is massively different to playing 720 or 1080p i knew how to do this but it is still very hard to play!

I need help. i've plugged my dazzle into my pc, then there is some double ended wires. one end going into my dazzle then 3 of the other wires into my scart (which is in the tv), the scart has 3 splitters so 3 are dazzle wires and the other 3 are xbox wires. but why can my dazzle not pick the xbox up. please reply.
Sipmple this set up works if you wana record ur games an stuf for montages, commentaries etc. HOWEVAR, this set means that what appears on your screen will be in HD (high definition), what appears on your Laptop/computer will be in SD (standard definition). Basically if you look at his diagram you can remove the HD leads because they do nothing for the video footage they just make it nicer for you. Simple =)

Or is there no way of using a USB key in the XBOX360 and then transfer replay data onto the USB Key?

not trollin lol. a lot less mess buy a cable that has S-vdieo & hd component cables ther about £13 i have a scart s-video at the moment. have to flip a switch on it. svideo into cap card. switch placment doesnt matter. signal will run through both outputs

This isnt going to record in HD. Sure you can PLAY in HD, but you need a capture device that records in HD which will cost about 3x the amount of a dazzle.
Basically the title of this video should be:
How to play in HD while recording in the same normal quality.

I need help. i've plugged my dazzle into my pc, then there is some double ended wires. one end going into my dazzle then 3 of the other wires into my scart (which is in the tv), the scart has 3 splitters so 3 are dazzle wires and the other 3 are xbox wires. but why can my dazzle not pick the xbox up. please reply.

Sipmple this set up works if you wana record ur games an stuf for montages, commentaries etc. HOWEVAR, this set means that what appears on your screen will be in HD (high definition), what appears on your Laptop/computer will be in SD (standard definition). Basically if you look at his diagram you can remove the HD leads because they do nothing for the video footage they just make it nicer for you. Simple =)

The Yellow cable from the Xbox Component lead is for Standard Definition ONLY!
But the Xbox will not output to the Yellow if the HD selector is selected
So basically with this method you can play and capture in SD but not play in HD and capture SD
Its not possible to capture HD unless you are capturing the yprpb(red/green/blue) cables
I myself use a Dazzle DVC 100 to play and record in SD and you don't need any splitters at all
