have they ever performed the 88 imaginos version of astronomy live? i have not seen any ytube recording of it. it would be shocking if they didn't, as big of a radio hit as it was!
I have a partial list of the "Shocking U" backing vocalists line-up somewhere. featured more extensively on the original Albert mix (let's ont forget the album was originally intended as his solo effort), they basically consist of assistant engineers and Al's friends. the creepy female voice is easily recognisable as Helen Robbins a/k/a Helen Wheels
holy fucking shit, BOC and lovecraft. its so perfect.
(btw did anyone else look at where it says cult in the logo and read it as 'shite' with the bottom cut off? spent like ten seconds staring at it going wtf before i figured out what it was.)
Damn!!!! its a shame this band didnt get airplay in the late 80's.. This song Cranks!!!! been a huge fan going back to '76 and seen them several times..
this album needs to be remastered, maybe not a physical release, but at the very least a remaster and an online re-release through itunes or amazon or something
If you read the storyline, there is a similarity to Lost, specifically Jacob vs the Man In Black.
Physically, look at the album cover (back art) and then go back and watch the beach scene between those two characters looking out at the ship on the horizon and listen to their dialogue.
I've seen BOC twice since 2005 and they didn't play any of these songs. They didn't even play Astronomy and the Subhuman (Blue Oyster Cult), but I've seen videos here on YouTube where they played those two songs recently. However, I don't think they'd play anything else. I'll eat my words if someone can post a video of them playing one of the other songs after 2005.
Although he has so many, I consider this Eric's second finest moment right behind "Astronomy". Ha, I'll probably change my mind next week. The Light that never warms....
Awesome, inspiring & essential magical world view of what matters in the silence of the moments that all of us can escape the day to day life into the world of dreams, the only world that matters because without these visions, life would be a drudgery...
I randomly picked this cd up becuase I liked Metallica's version of Astronomy. Since then Imaginos has my fave version ever and this is one of my all time favorite albums.
I consider Astronomy a Trinity Act, just like "Flaming Telepaths," The most Stellar studio original, the most enlightening "Imaginos" video, and of course, we're talking the most working band in the history of the rock culture, so the live version off of "Some Enchanted Evening" as point number three.
Wow... the last couple minutes of this song make me want to curl up in a fetal position and cry softly. So creepy... And so good. Incidentally, anyone know who was enlisted to do the weird voices at the end? Most don't sound like members of the BOC.
man you ROCK! a very veeeery hard one to find. Been trying to get the CD but in this day and age impossible almost! The Imaginos CD is very rare, and the LP almost impossible unless you want to dish out some serious cash, which I do not have .... Thank you!
This CD has been released again in 2008, look on one of the most famous internet shopping sites and ye will find - $11.99 at the moment. Good album which I have on LP. Saw them on the tour early January 1989, but less than 500 turned up as not so well known in the UK.
Better people to buy from ;^)

llumiknight---Indeed, indeed. Also try "Nosferatu's" opening. You'll want to join the floating mist about the castle walls...

Oh thanks, I never knew of that song before but it's REALLY good, like it surprised me. Thanks again.

I might be the only person whose heard both songs, but is anyone else reminded by MetallicA's Fade To Black intro in this song's intro?
Both songs are awesome, anyway.

I think that this is my all-time fave BOC track, along with "Morning Final" and "Astronomy". Just brilliant!!

I believe that the voices were courtesy of "Shocking U". I have no Idea who/what that is, and what else they have done though.
