It doesnt direcly cause cancer but studies have shown that it definitely weakens the immune system, and the prevalence of lung, throat, and mouth cancer in correlation tobacco use is something that you'd be very stupid to ignore.

If someone wants to smoke in their house I am fine with that - go ahead and waste your money and kill your health, but dont make me experience it.

They're mixing two separate things here. Smoking around other people is not the same as smoking while pregnant. Smoking is obviously dangerous for a fetus because it's sharing the same body with its mother, but exhaled smoke isn't particularly dangerous, even to children. A scientific study determined that living in the same house with a smoker for 2 months is the equivalent of smoking only two cigarettes yourself. If your lungs can handle car exhaust, they can handle secondhand smoke.
