Please do not use shredded paper with ink, when they consume it, they will get poisoned. There should be only 1-3 inches of bedding. The bedding that are safe to use are Carefresh, Aspen, shredded printing paper, and non scented shredded paper towels or Tissue paper.
They usaly can not suffocate because they usualy dig a hole that they can breath through and if you do not but enouf bedding they would basicaly be sleeping in their own pee. We told you why there is no wheel and we have a couple books on the top of the cage.
wheres the wheel and you hamster could escape. im not a haqtr but im just trying to help also try to put about 2 inches of bedding that much bedding could maske them think thre drowning and suffocate
