It's great that everyone enjoyed the novel, but simply making a movie that doesn't live up to your standards does not take anything away from the novel. Just don't watch the movie. Jesus
It's great that everyone enjoyed the novel, but simply making a movie that doesn't live up to your standards does not take anything away from the novel. Just don't watch the movie. Jesus
The movie missed the point, just didn't have the feel. I suggest that you smoke a joint, sit in a comfy chair and just get sucked in by the novel. Not everything needs to be made into a movie. This story was meant to be read, not butchered by some hack. I love the fact that Alan Moore won't put his name on the movies. Sucks that he has no control over it. If he did they wouldn't have made this movie.
its an amazing movie of an amazing story. stop being a little girl about it. just cuz its not the same for you doesnt mean its a waste. It just means you can't appreciate it.
Dude this director is a fucking idiot. He has no fucking idea about the characters in his own movie does he. I hope Osama Bin Laden wins just to save me the effort of murdering this clown.
I read all these comments saying that Watchmen the film is either garbage or cinematic genius. The graphic novel, of course, is absolute gold. But the truth is that while Watchmen was a great movie, it was flawed. That 15 minute sex scene? That was unnecessary to the EXTREME. However, coming from somebody who watched the movie after reading the comic, I really enjoyed this film and I'm proud to own it.
jut because they're heroes doesnt mean they are bound to being forever pure. these are just a bunch of unlucky guys who happened to be put in their place-or a place. they dont belong there and humanity, whatever it is, is almost beyond saving.
i loved this movie because if superheros were real, it would be like the guys from the watchman...well maybe except doctor manhattan, im sure he can kill superman...lol turn his blood into kryptonite.
It shows how "vigilantes" or superheros can alter history. I don't see what sucks about that.
Rorschach, my favorite by far. can't beat the crazy vindictive guy.
and the guy beneath me being angry about Snyder "KronantheBarbarian". 1)he is building credit, everyone knew him after 300 and he loves graphic novels. 2)where is Peter Jackson's original film (really I'm curious, and the new district 9 isnt Jackson's it is Blomkamp's)?3)QUIT COMPLAINING you decided to watch this thing.
My favourite character? Jesus, I don't have a 'least' favourite character but if I think about it long and hard, I'd have to say it's a tie between Rorschach and Comedian.
Rorschach is the..well, he's 'trying' the be the hero but in his own detective eye for an eye way, the Comedian in my belief is the real hero. He's human, like everyone else..sure no one else rapes a woman or shoots down a pregnant lady, but he had human nature, that's what Manhattan lacked.

I have no idea why Zack Snyder has to explain the story while sitting in a chair instead of just letting the images speak for themselves, he's a self promoting hack. His only 3 films aren't original. I cannot wait til Zack shows the world weather or not he has talent by directing an original script, not a direct comic adapt, or a pointless REMAKE of an important horror film. I just think he owes it to the film community or else he doesn't belong. Anyone could mail a comic book to crew and say go

Actualy most people on this planet understand what Snyder presents in his pictures... Only Americans got this certain problem with using imagination and a little bit of reason to understand it.
Still it's not easy make a good adaptation of watchmen, and we can say he was successful in that. I got a good adaptation of watchmen with this movie, i don't care if he's career ends after this, i got one of my favorite stories in a good movie now.
You do know that Incredible Hulk the first one that Ang Lee Directed was horrible...Daredevil was a bad movie, the punisher films were bad, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were absolute garbage...the point im trying to make is that there's not that many successful adaptations and for one that's recent take Dragonball Evolution how the hell can you screw up DBE? Zack Snyder is just makin all of us comic book geeks happy by faithfully adaptating our favorite graphic novels to the big screen.
I'm not dogging the film, I enjoyed the Watchmen, planning on buying the special edition. I'd just like to see the director try something new, that's all. And I still have no idea why he's gotta self promote in the promo too. The film and story are good enough he doesn't have to explain it. That's just an annoyance.
Whaaa? You didn't like DBZ?? Like the anime or the manga? Yes the anime drags i can agree to that...but the manga was damn well great....possibly one of the best done...i'd put it up there at the top but Death Note rightfully deserves that spot.
Also DBE supposed to cover the story of Dragonball..not Dragonball Z...so the whole Goku as a kid with a tail and stuff...and hoooly crap was DBE garbage.
I feel that the Hulk isn't bad. It's just that the movie was made to be too intellectual and artsy for audiences who want to see non-stop action. The comic book styling may not work too well, but the rest of the movie was actually an attempt to address most of the complaints about a Hulk movie, the main one being that the actor playing Banner will disappear every time Hulk appears. So Ang Lee made a movie exploring the basic theme of the Hulk, and created a modern Greek Tragedy.
@classy15 Or at least as faithfully as he can and still make a watchable movie. People have bemoaned how much stuff was cut from the comic, like the kid and the news vendor or the sub-plot about Rorschach's psychiatrist's home problems, but the movie is already about 3 hours long and if all of that were kept, try to imagine sitting through it all. The new ending, I personally think works better too.
@classy15 But it isn't a very faithful adaptation if you consider how much of the story he changed, IE, Rorschach's dispatching of the child murderer, Dr M's prompting Laurie to remember her past (on Mars) or how the ending was radically altered to make it more movie-like...
All relatively minor details. The main thrust of the story, and themes of it, are retained and carried out faithfully. Hell, so are MOST of the details.
@ViveLRoi Visual details, yes. Much of the story, yes. But the idea of Rorshach killing the child murderer the way he did lessens the impact: think about it this way, what would be the worse way to kill the guy, a quickie death like in the movie or setting the place ablaze w/him still inside?
please can sunbary teld the movie producerst that it will be cooll to make a movie like the cocoos nest ... or hao the behave the crazy people thankiu

lol! You don't get it, never will, and I will see everything great, ruined in the search for a wider audience.
PS. READ! the graphic novel before you pipe up at my comment, you might understand what I'm talking about, instead of sounding like a complete tool.
