  • Can it run crysis at max settings? lol, just kidding :D

  • what settings did you use to game with? On my u120 I can't get Sid Meier's Civilization 4 to play on it. It says that I need to check the directx version and graphics settings. Directx up to date and I can't figure out how to do the graphics setting.

  • ask me if you want to know if you could play

    [games name] on [laptop/comp name]

    with [amount of RAM]

  • can i play pro evolution soccer on eeepc 1008ha with 2gb?

  • anyone know if you can play Sims 2 or 3 on the MIS Wind?

  • yah i play sims 2it runs very good

  • on my netbook i can run halo 1 medium settings and counter strike 1.6 medium settings at 30-60 fps using gmabooster and gamebooster.

  • you know how i can get this laptop with 6 cel instead of 3 cell battery?

  • FarCry seems very laggy.

What settings and resolution are you using??

  • so anyone knows how to fix the resolution problem in Rome TW ?

  • @FecOoOoOo you can actually play rome tw on the msi wind without extreme lag?

  • @Finiras yeah it's quite good but as i said it has a problem with the resolution. it's 1024x768 after the second start, and you need to scroll the screen

  • yeah, i use a seperate monitor so i wont have problems with the resolution. the only thing is, i can remember my old desktop having trouble with the battles. i can't imagine the Wind giving good performance in field battles.

  • Its about 270 canadian , so less than that in american

  • good* xD typo

  • if you know what the mistake was, so do they. don't correct them, you only look like a fuckin' dickweed.

  • im gettin me the msi wind u123 :)... its the same price and can play god games like Aion

  • nah i dont have it but i suppose if rome TW runs it will run medieval I

  • Just gonna put this out there, the Wind seems a lot cheaper than the other netbooks. My Dell Mini 10V runs all these games without lag or anything. Is it just me or do these systems perform the same. Maybe the video was lagging a bit????

  • runs Rome Total War perfect, but i have problems with resolution

  • do you have medieval total war for it

and if so whats it like?

  • my wind doesn't run wow that good it has 1GB memory however

  • Song?

  • Did you overclock the processor or use any boosting whatsoever for this video? PLEASE let me know, I would greatly appreciate a detailed response!

  • No, the processor wasn't overclocked for this video and no extra boosting was used. The Wind U100 can play these games out of the box. You might need to turn some video settings down, though ;)

  • So I'm assuming an upgraded, boosted wind would play games even better then, huh? I was thinking about getting a 2GB RAM wind and definitely OC the processor and use GMAbooster for the GPU. Thank you for the fast response.

  • No problem. Definitely get a Wind with 2GB RAM if you want to play some games. I have no experience with GMAbooster but OC the processor should give you a bit of extra performance. Don't except too much of it though. Have fun with your Wind :)

  • Ok, thank you again for the quick response. I just have a few more questions.

What song is this? And with the MSI Wind U120 (NOT the 123 or 100), can you upgrade the RAM? Because I'm on a website about to order the 120, and there's no option to have them upgrade the RAM, but there is for the 123 and 100. If there is, that's cool because I would just upgrade it myself.

  • The Wind U120 and 123 come standard with 1GB RAM (cuz of Microsoft ruling). The chipset supports up to 2 GB RAM. There is only room for one DIMM, though. But you could replace the current DIMM with a 2GB one. If you still can find a U100 I would advise to get that one. If you want more options and power you might want to take a look at the upcoming U200.

    Good luck shopping ;)

The song is: Niels Van Gogh - One Way Out (Extended Mix)

  • Ok, thank you. I read somewhere else that the 120 model only has one slot for a GB module. So it IS possible to replace that 1GB for a 2GB?

And when do the U200s come out and how much do they cost? Also what do you think of the U210? lol, sorry that's a lot of questions for you but thank you so far you are you doing great. :D

  • The chipset doesn't support 2GB.

U200 has been released. For the price better check your local MSI dealer because I can only give EU prices :)

  • Yap, but it seems different from the Steam version :o

  • i think it could play cs source nice?? if you did the over clocking..

  • you could over clock this up to 2.0 ghz right?

why don't you try it and let me know if it could play games better..

  • i haven't seen that hl :o could anybody tell me, what is this mod named ( if it is a mod) or whatever else? ;)

  • im pretty sure that its black mesa

  • why do these videos have the gayest music

  • @ADDtwins usually gamers don't realize it but some have these rare medical condition called "gaytosis"..^^

  • My sister just got one of these soo how would i get games on to these because there is no cd drive? I know how to use torrents but most need you to burn it to a disk

  • External dvd drive its like 60$

  • nooo easier way Magic Iso just mount them to a virtual drive

  • True but for people who dont feel like torrenting the shit and getting viruses

  • All you have to do is download Daemon Tools. It creates a virtual drive on your pc, to install your downloaded games without the need for an external or internal dvd/cd drive. All you have to do is mount up the .iso / .bin or ,img file in Damon Tools. Most games you download do not require you to burn them. Use Daemon Tools, it's much easier. This laptop isnt for gaming, it will play older games on low quality settings , but they will look like you are playing on a Playstation One.

  • There are a few possibilities :

-Download via an online store like Steam.

-Put a game from another pc on a usb-stick

    -Buy an external DVD-drive.

  • actuly Daemon tools is usefull for that ^_^, i wanna ask for how long the battery can do this :D

  • the U123 could do all of this to...right?

  • farcry lags alot

  • Comment removed

  • which version of trackmania is it??

  • try world of warcraft in BC zones or WOTLK zones. you be screwed.

  • ... That doesn't make a difference in performance, moron. He was in a place with a lot of people, that's the most testing place to be.

  • i hear you can run cs4?

  • i think it does, photoshop cs4 runs better than cs3, at least on my acer aspire one

  • u90x is the middle version of the u100 and u120

  • and is the u120 same in performance

  • should be its newer.

  • how much is this netbook.

  • that music fcked the vid, but still an awesome netbook, and the vid show the potential of the MSi Wind, I think is the best of all nets on market

  • good thing i had it muted cuz i was listening to some ricchi & poveri

  • if u upgrade to 2 gb of ram does it affect playing games for the best or worst?

  • I think upgrading to 2 GBs of RAM will increase the performance, but I don´t think the gameplay will be better because this notebook isn´t dedicated for gamers, BUT by upgrading you will get an awesome NetBook

  • I will help. You can also upgrade the Harddrive to a faster one if you want- that will also help. But that would cost about $100, a third the price of the computer- which would defeat the purpose of such a small, cheap computer.

  • Nice vid ! :P So bad you can't play multiplayer on trackmania :(

But still nice ! i Can play Total Overdose, GTA San Andreas And Call of duty 1 :P i've tried worms mayhem but it seems to have some problems.

  • MSI Wind is a champ at old games and porn.

  • @Craptron2000 its not true!! it depends on the user, me running half life 30-72 fps with gma booster+modded drivers+overlock 24%

  • there you go that si a good demonstration...And if the msi wind can play than any other netbook will do the job..because basically all netbooks have the same specs except for battery life..

  • No, actually, I am going to get the MSI Wind, because it has the best specs. Its the only netbook upgradeable to 2 gigabytes of memory. The rest only upgrade the 1.5 gigabytes.

  • Comment removed

  • ok maybe its the only one upgradable to 2 Gb but if i're runing XP 1 Gb is mmore than enough..1.5 Gb will make it an animal ;)...advice go for the battery life with the good ol atom

  • The same reasons. The MSI can last that long on a charge, it actually has a better power saver mode. I honestly think that it is the all around better netbook. With a 9 cell, it lasts 12 hours and 50 minutes. I don't think any of them beat that. Plus it has a cleaner look to it.

  • I wonder if I can edit videos on the Wind with Serif Movie Plus version 5.

  • pretty good power for such small machine....

  • Video memory is 224 mb ?

  • As far as its 2g ram ;p

  • Video memory is shared

  • i had a question about gaming on the new laptop i just ordered...

    Lenovo 3000 N500 4233-52U Notebook PC

will it be able to play the listed games below???

    counter strike 1.6 / source

    half life 2?

    team fortress 2

    portal

    lineage2

    warcraft 3

    and world of warcraft?

  • cool :)

  • Does WoW run on max video settings?

  • if it will run at all it will run on max but it will lag to hell

  • how does it fare with PSX emulation?

  • great config!

My girlfriend has the same config, and she is pretty satisfied with it. A 8/16 GB pendrive can be useful;)

  • How long does your battery last?

  • 2 and a half hours from fully charged

  • 6 cell battery or 3?

  • 3 cell usually lasts 2 to 3 hours, a 6 cell can last double that amount.

  • it looks on 25-30 FPS :)

  • how many fps you have in world of warcreft and farcry ?

  • simply amazing for a netbook - especially playing farcry and wow.

  • what is the name of this song?

  • Niels Van Gogh One Way Out (Extended Mix)

  • how do u intsall games on the msi? i would really appreciate an helpful answer thanks

  • You can use an external Optical Drive which MSI also offers. Other options are to download programs from the internet, to use your home network to connect to other PC's or you can place ISO's on a USB stick or exteral HD. Enough options :)

  • have this! use the lowest rez though...decent frame rates on hl2 also, like 20-40 :p

  • how many frames per second, you get by far cry?

  • WOW, that is cool man for something that small. Seems like you are gettin pretty good fps too.

  • corrijo mas que a la pc

  • Le preste mas atencion a la cancion que a la musica!! jaja!! muy buena pc!!!

  • You dumb ass, hes saying that no one buys umpc's, but being able to play games in added bonus

  • People(most) that buy umpc's wont even use it to play games. Sorry for my English earlier i was a bit tired.

  • hes simply showing that u can play games on it

  • I've been playing halo and wolfenstein on my Advent 4211 which is the same as the MSI Wind. Some games have to be played at the lower settings, but look good. Some parts of halo run slow, but I can live with it. I'm 37 so I'm just as slow lol. I got this netbook based partly on this video and I'm still loving it.

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California JESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can you play sims 2 on this?

  • Does WoW run faster in Linux when you force on OpenGL in Wine?

Also, what is the fastest and densest memory that thing supports?

  • did you try shattrath on wow?

  • How have you install the games on the msi?

  • very nice. any chance you could test how it runs 3ds max? just the interface with a few hundred thousand faces

  • the cpu is really good

  • does the video card in the Wind support games like WOW? or did the person modified it..?

  • no it runs without any tweaks very well...

  • WoW sucks

  • This video != WoW Review.

  • to vh 2011. No, man. U won't be able even to run Oblivion without messing with ini-file but even then u won't be able to play comfortably on setting that are actually lower than lowest ones.

Guys this video is not fake. Please remember that there are different Trackmanias so it doesn't mean u can play TrackMania nations or trackmania forever on a netbook now.

  • trackmania nations runs ok on a p3 700 256mb of ram and a gf2 64mb... It a quite nicely optimized game I don't see why it wouldn't run on a atom based netbook.

  • whats the song?

  • dani california- Red hot chili peppers

  • is this a good computer to play wow on i was thinking of buying one for wow so is it good enough? thanks

  • think its okey for wow.. I dunno, but after what I've read, it sounds like its gonna run wow fine =)

maybe you have to have the graphics on low, but is that such a big problem? =P

  • sum remote desktop anyone?

  • how much fps you get in wow?

  • can the wind play counter strike source

  • half life is cs

  • Half-life is not counter-strike. Counter-strike and half-life are of the same engine (1998). Half-life 2 and counter-strike source are far more modern. (although 2004 games are old now adays)

  • what games can be played on the msi wind and how? is it possible to install world of war craft well the answer is probably but how do you install it?

  • For once and for all this video is NOT fake. It just shows you can play older but popular games on the MSI Wind. Which is just a nice plus. The Wind is not a gaming machine. It's a mini laptop but it has a good performance. Nothing fishy or weird about that.

  • Fake.. That video of World of warcraft have i seen before on youtube (and not by him) so he camed youtube and put it in where the screen would be, so screw you

  • this video is 100% fake. i have msi wind too, with the same hardware with a new windows xp install, i can barely run trackmania nations on the lowest setting. stop posting fake videos and get a life. the person just do a input video from a higher-end computer into the small msi wind screen. don't be fooled!

  • I have an older laptop with graphics hardware inferior but similar to MSI Wind (intel GMA900 vs. GMA950).

Trackmania Nations ESWC runs here fillrate-limited, that is it is very well playable in low resolutions like 640x400.

For CPU performance, MSI Wind is more like half of my laptop, except for 3D transformation and lighing operations, where it should be same or slightly better than mine.

It definately doesn't look like feeding anything from high-spec machine, since Far-Cry is waay too slow.

  • the computer feeding into the small 10inch msi screen is not top-end, but is fast enough to play warcraft 3 and trackmania at a higher setting. when i play trackmanian nations, it can barely run on the lowest setting with 640 x 400, the graphic looks like something from Nintendo 64. note that this game is all installed on a new xp system without any software added. i believe it can play hl1, but not wow and warcraft 3 at mediocre setting

  • can someone plz do video with LOTRO

  • CPU performance cannot be measured in Ghz, bro.

It has to do with the arcitecture and how much it can do each hertz.

Very much like brain size has little to do with intelligence amongst humans.

  • does anyone know if elderscrolls oblivion can work smoothly on the MSI Wind with medium graphics settings?

  • yea but even still its a bit fishy.

also theres no glare or reflection on the screen at all. and the slight blip on the zoomin where its switched from a more diagonal view to a more straight on view is odd as well.

  • Im about 90% sure this video is fake. Seeing as how the laptop remains stationary, and you rarely see anything pass in front of the screen AND the fact that the video was posted by an account labled MSIeurope.

Look at all the other videos on the posters account. Not 100% positive on this being fake, but it is a bit fishy.

  • I am 100% sure this is not fake. Many MSI Wind users have confirmed even more games than this running. Many of these old games have low requirements too.

  • wow i love this song

  • I would love to see how well GTA SA, Fear and Halo run on this. If those worked well it might be worth the purchase. If anyone tries this games, please let me know. Far Cry looked like it was lagging a bit.

  • GTA SA is kinda slow, a lot of lag, i had it installed, it's playable when you'r on the road and don't have anything else to fill your time.

Apart from that the Wind is an incredible UMPC, i'm really impressed. I've had it for about 4 weeks. The only downside is the 3 cell battery which kinda undermines the Ultra Mobile PC tag since u have to carry the power brick with you if you need more than 2,5 hours of power while away...

Can't wait for the 6cell bat to come out... :D

  • ure wind is standard right? with no upgrades no overclocking to 1,75ghz or whatshowever?

  • damn i want one. :(

  • just a quick question is this PC any good for a student

basically i need to do some MS office work

watch videos and surf the net (download a lot)

ATM i have a P4 desktop with 512mb RAM and an ATI radeon 9200 will the wind match the performance or will it fall behind or surpass it??

    thanks in advance

  • actually i dont think that you can play far cry on your pc, can you? ^^

i think the performance of the msi wind should be much better...

  • TBH i dont want to play games on the pc as i have both ps3 and 360 (psp too) so i need no gaming machine anyway

but if the winds performance going to be better than my P4 512MB ram pc then im getting one

  • its excellent for students and the best of all the 3 netbooks. im buying a wind too as soon as i gathered those pesky coins

  • Looks pretty good, i was thinkin of buying Eepc, but when i saw this one i changed my mind ;)

  • Im impressed that a non-gaming laptop can run older games quite good. For such a small size and relative low price quite good performance.

Im still thinking of getting one, unfortunatly they are all out of stock atm :(

Prolly one of the few downsides of this thing.

  • Actually new stock came in this week. So the Wind should be available in the shops in the coming weeks :)

  • You can upgrade the RAM to 2GB PC5400 and replace the hard drive with a 7200RPM one to play even more games and greatly improve performance with these.

  • do you know if you can boot a XP install disk off of a external Cd drive?

  • For games requiring CD/DVD discs to be inserted you usually if you have common sense and a bit of PC know how you can find NO CD cracks, My halo 1 i PURCHASED ( when it was new) I run with no CD cuz of a no CD crack, Same with alot of other games,

  • how can you install the game on it when it has no disk drive!

  • with an external CD/DVD Drive?!

  • You use a usb external works great

  • usb cd/dvd

  • download the pirated version online

  • use a program to rip the game to your desktop pc, you'll end with something called an 'image' file. install Daemon Tools on the laptop and use it to read/mount the image file over your lan. install. play.

  • It is better to do full installations of games and then to use a NoCD patch otherwise you will be wasting lots of space with CD images.

  • Do any1 think it can handle Sims 2 ?

  • I don't think it would have too much trouble with Sims 2.

The System Requirements for a non-T&L graphics card (Like the one in the U100 Wind) are:

2.0 GHz processor or better (Wind has 1.6, close enough to work most likely)

256 MB RAM (Wind has 1GB (1024 MB))

At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space (Wind has 80GB HDD (the U100 one anyways))

Good luck with the Wind all, it's a great little machine.

  • Does the wc3 DotA work?

  • I'm surprised that it even ran farcry. If it ran farcry I think it can run CS:S. Just don't expect to play in competitions with it.

  • I wonder if you could play command and conquer at its most furious gameplay.

  • does it runs CS:S ??? please help me

  • I think this may be fake

  • nah I don't think it's a fake, most games are very old so this computer should be able to handle them.

  • what about cs?

  • I don't think CS 1.6 (if anyone still plays it?) would be a problem, CS:S on the other hand probably don't work well, or at all.

Just my speculations based on how smoothly HL1 ran in this video and the fact that they didn't play HL2 in the video

  • i see. anyway i am a consolero i never played a game on my pc,laptop. the only game i played on pc was monkey island 3. i prefer to play games on ps3 or xbox360. i will definetly buy the msi wind. first i wanted the aspire one but it seems the wind is better.

  • I'm using my msi wind now, CS:S doesnt work but HL2 works.

  • Damn, your almost making me drool, would you mind summarizing the good and bad with the Wind? If you feel up to it :)

By the way in which country do you live? Just wanting to know, maybe I can import one from your country :P

  • Hey you forgot to run into Ironforge, any speculations on what the fps would be there? :)

Nevermind, I don't PC-game anymore anyway but I like to have th
