There is also a SUS 2 chord for each chord. G sus 2 would be G A D. I rarely see a sus 2 on music sheets, but I have seen it. Most people like to use a sus 4.

@Torn80cj I have seen sus2 chords appear in recent times but personally, I think they're an incorrect use of the term sus. G A D is a G2 chord and shouldn't be written as Gsus2 simply because by definition, a suspended chord needs to have a 4th in it. When I see Gsus2, I would play it as G A C D, ie. it would have a 2 and a 4.

10 years ago, you only saw Gsus chords and not Gsus4 chords, because Gsus4 is like saying G44 or Gsussus.
