  • I've just been given a conditional acceptance at Nottingham for their International Relations school (undergrad). But I really want to go to Glasgow. I know its a difficult comparison to make but if anyone could possibly shed some light on my odds/ chances for Politics that'd be great. Doubt I'll be able to go as I can't really afford it but I'd still like to know. Thanks ahead of time!

  • Isn't strange that everyone says the same things no matter which University they are in? Then this means that everywhere people are very similar

  • @franco121760 lol this is why i never make good reviews of people's experience at uni a deciding factor

  • Glasgow students are some of the best in the world! A great Uni.

  • @MegaTrainspotter because not contributing to the country is more fun. it's good of you to watch the trains for the country.

  • how come their aint any GUU shots in there.....thats by far the best part of glasgow university......fact.

  • @woodsc04 QMU for the win! :P

  • glasgow uni :)

i love being there... the QMU helps

  • @littlemandypie90 Do you enjoy Ian Beale?

  • Find more about real university life on my channel. Follow links on the left

  • It is absolutely Rubbish University, I have studied there before and I had very bad experience there specially the law school. any one wants to know why it is rubbish you can contact me and i will suggest another university for you, also I'm still in Glasgow if you want know more about the uni

  • why was it so bad for you? im starting at glasgow uni this year studying geography and earth science. it would be good to here a students opinion.

  • im at aberdeen uni the now doing geoscience but im transferring to glasgow this year to study earth science also

  • oh thats cool:] what's made you want to transfer if its not too personal to ask? its just it was a toss up between aberdeen and glasgow for me so it would be good to know why you are leaving.

  • lol yeah i know about being skint but glasgow is cheap compared to abdn and edinburgh! this place is extortianate coz of the oil

  • aww yeh good point! i never thought of that. im glad that i chose glasgow tbh. well anyway, thanks for the chat and the info. never know, might see you around the department in september. not that i'll know what you look like though lol. later.

  • its not really bad im from glasgow and i miss it more, aberdeen is a good uni but the place in general gets boring, not really a good nightlife, it has a gd beach aswell, it depends what your into i supoz, but the course in general is gd, if your from glasgow and planning on living at home and attending glasgow u will prob have less of an experience than staying up here in halls, it is absolutely amazing living away in student acc., are u goin to uni straight from school?

  • ahh right ok. that makes sense then. thats one of the main things that put me off of aberdeen. i never really knew how isolated it was until properly visiting it. im from just outside edinburgh so yeh, im going into student halls from school.

what year are you going to be going into when you transfer?

  • aw cool, i wouldnt have mind going to edinburgh but they dont do the course and i'll be going into 2nd year

  • yeh im thinking about edinburgh too but i suppose its just a lil too close and a lot too expensive lol. not saying that im not going to be skint at uni in glasgow anyway though lol.

  • wow everyone is in awe at your greatness smartypants.

  • hello there..i'm actually writing from japan..and on my plan to apply for glasgow...but I'm quite hesitate bout the info given on the internet..can anyone here 'specially glasgow's students tell me more about the facilities& the city itself..btw I'm applying for taught master in marine engineering..plz...

  • come to Glasgow it is really good ;) u can find many info in website of uni.

  • The city is wonderful. The university is located in the west end -which is very bohemian, cultural and affluent. You'll find everything from second hand book stores, hidden cafes, posh restaurants to some good fashioned pubs all within a few minutes of the uni. General facilities such as the gym and library are excellent: the gym fee is one of the cheapest in the UK, the library is one of the best Scotland, holding over 2.5 million books. We have two unions, which with the exception of.....

  • ...of maybe one or two other universities, is unique. When you become a student, you'll represented by our own Students Representative Council -which works exclusively for us; other universities (apart from Oxford I think) have to rely on the National Union of Students. For your course, it really is best to contact the department -they won't be able to mislead you I may do!

  • dam i thort i mite of seen me uncal in this video prof alan crozier :)

  • "One of the best universities in the world to study the Enlightenment. " True mate, enough of them studied here.

Glasgow is the best city Britain, we're humble too.

  • Everywhere in the world has bad parts but if your going to study at glasgow youll be in the city centre where its fine. certain parts are bad though

  • recently been accepted to Glasgow and really want to go coz it seems like a really nice place and a top uni...but my family are trying to persuade me not to..apparently its the crime capital of europe and it has made me a bit nervous about going..im currently on the fence....can any glasgow students tell me about the student life and crime..or are my family over exaggerating??? it will be helpful to find out from someone that actually lives in glasgow...thanks!!

  • Glasgow's a big city mate and Glasgow Uni is in the west end which is a nice area with lots of great nightlife, pubs and clubs. True there are bad parts of glasgow like any city but again like any other city you just don't go there. If you visit glasgow you'll see for yourself.

  • cheers m8..will be visiting soon...so hopefully will like it!!

  • As someone else pointed out, crime happens in big cities and Glasgow is no exception. I'm a woman living in Glasgow, and I often use public transport at night, by myself, and I've never had any problems or felt the least bit afraid. You would really just avoid the "bad" parts of town which, as a student, you can easily manage throughout all 4-5 years of your studies. Just be sensible and don't hang out in city parks after 2am or wander down a dark alley whilst talking on your mobile!

  • Glasgow Uni student here and loving every moment of it. The choice of course is yours, but you won't regret it if you go!

  • A girl was murdered in the West end about a year ago and it completely shocked community -something like that has never happened; but I was in Notting Hill when that uber wealthy lawyer was brutally stabbed outside his home -it happens unfortunately. The westend is one of -if not the- most affluent areas of Glasgow that has an unmatched social and cultural atmosphere. Admittedly, the city centre is like any other city centre on a weekend, but not necessarily crime ridden. Please visit soon!

  • I LOVED Glasgow University. Without a shadow of a doubt the finest years of my life. The history department is just fantastic and the staff are incredible. One of the best universities in the world to study the Enlightenment.

  • I would definately recommend glasgow uni. I went there about five years ago (!) is that how long it was?? Anyway, the glaswegian people are great and will make anyone from around the world feel welcome. I'm from Glasgow myself and I didn't really appreciate it at the time. Moving away from the city has made me realise just how friendly the people are

  • Why-I, m8, it's a good uni...smashing! the library is big enough, and the chicks are hot there. but the whether is not that nice in Glasgow. cheers for the vid.

  • is it true that uni in scotland are free?even for foreighners?

  • Not really...only people who are resident in scotland pay no tuition fees. People who are british but do not live in scotland pay around half the full amount of tuition fees. And every1 who isn't british has to pay quite considerable amounts. However even if you are eligable to have your tuition fees paid, a university is never 'free' because the living costs such as accomodation amount to thousands of pounds per year!

  • actually EU non UK students are eligible for loans up to the whole amount of tuition fees depending on their family income.internaional students though pay a lot more than the regular tuition fees

  • Really, I didn't know that. Goodness me, the unification of europe seems to be taking place quickly!

  • well, saas pays everything for non-british eu - for bachelor.

glasgow raised the requirements this year. could become close for me now =(

  • come booze at clatty pats...check out my video!

  • I went to a Higher Education fair today and the woman from Glasgow uni well persuaded me!

A tad scared about moving away though

  • Neargh I can't decide whether to come here or not! Someone who's already here convince me? Please!

    Cat x

  • I'm in the same boat, I got in U of glasgow, uni college dublin, and queens university belfast..can't decide for the life of me!

  • Are you going to the visit day in March? I'm hoping that might sway me a bit...

    Cat x

  • haha i would love to, but as I am in the US it would be too expensive :( reeaallyy wish I could.

  • I'm heading into my 3rd year now, and I can't wait to go back! everything is so close to you, everyone is so friendly, and the drink is so cheap!. The main point is through, if u're cautious about leaving home, you'll be living with at least 5 other people in your first year who are in exactly the same boat! This gives you an instant set of friends that will grow throughout uni!

  • if they're nice. and no "assholes" ;)

  • im going to this uni to do english!

glad to see a couple of fitties in this video!

  • Glasgow Uni is awesome! :D

  • Really? Well sweetheart i'm glad you had made easy to make friends at that shithole they call glasgow uni, May i correct you on a few facts the students are not friendly and don't welcome you with open arms they are all wrapped round themselves like you.

  • bunch o tossers arent they...half boiled toffs

  • haha...wonder where both of you are from?

guessing the first one could be Edinburgh uni :O

Best university in scotland this year so kiss our asses arrogant twat

  • Oh how i miss murano st! MOORFOOT 5A rocks!!!!

And it has to be the QM!

  • There was a dinosaur called Milly? I definitely came to uni at the wrong time! It looks quite different in the ad, they make it look rather appealing, subtly leaving out pics of bute hall during exams...

No, Glasgow's great really. The G.U makes it all worthwhile-70p drinks on a Friday night!

  • aww wolfson halls!! I well miss it there.

  • HA! Murano st. been there done that.

  • This year there was no the dinosaur. And the museum is different. Glasgow University is great, but as in any advert many things are exaggerated, and look better than in the reality. I call it good British advertising - the thing you can learn in Glasgow University.

    Sincirelly,

    A student of Glasgow University

  • Visitors used to love getting their photos taken with it, and it was a nice backdrop for graduation pictures too!

  • I miss Milly the dinosaur.

  • Me too! why!?

  • I can't wait to join in September!

  • it looks lovely!
