  • es una belleza de musica me haca ir a un mundo ideal es bellisima

  • Here's a mystery. I remmember FOR CERTAIN hearing this as ABC network music on TV in 1965. Yet wikipedia says Nikki Bacharach committed suicide in 2007 at age 40. Any comments?

  • @Slick2614 Both comments are absolutely true, Burt Bacharach wrote this song for his and Angie Dickinson's daughter Nikki . ABC would adopt it as it's theme for The Movie Of The Week Series. Sadly Nikki would end her life after many frustrating years of dealing with a debilitating illness. A beautiful song written for a very brave young woman.

  • @rickw1100 I agree with your comments, but my point was how could a song have been written about a girl in 1965, if she was 40 when she died in 2007? She would have been born in 1967.

  • @Slick2614 - Lea Nikki Bacharach was born July 12, 1966 - died January 5, 2007- she was not yet 41. "Nikki" was written and released as a "one off" single by Burt Bacharach / Hal David for Liberty records at the end of '66 for her.The dates are listed in his discography. A beautiful song.

  • @Slick2614 The ABC Movie of the Week ( an anthology series of films made for ABC) aired from 1969-1975.

  • @rickw1100 Besides the Movie of the Week, I am CERTAIN that ABC used the melody as general background music when their logo was displayed in Autumn, 1965.

  • @Slick2614 -Not possible. Instrumentals were big on the networks and there have been hit songs used, however, if you look up the background on "NIKKI" you'll find : The Burt Bacharach Orchestra & Chorus. Liberty Single #55934 - Released 12/66. Composed, Arranged And Conducted By Burt Bacharach. Bacharach himself has discussed the origen of this song. It was wriiten for his daughter who was born in July of '66. It couldn''t have been in '65. It wasn't written or released until '66.

  • @rickw1100 That it wasn't released as a record for general distribution doesn't imply that it didn't already exist or hadn't already been used, and I'm CERTAIN that it had been, regardless of Bacharach's comments.

  • @Slick2614 True. That it wasn't released as a record for general distribution doesn't mean that it didn't already exist. But the fact that it hadn't been written yet- does. It was not written before 1966 -therefore it could not have been used in 1965.

  • @rickw1100 We'll just have to agree to disagree.

  • @Slick2614 Why don't you email Burt and ask.

  • @Slick2614 there similar--yet quite different--almost two compositions.

  • As a youngster, I remember watching the ABC movie of the week, which used this sweeping song as its theme. Burt Bacharach wrote it out of love and joy for his baby daughter , Nikki, whom he had by then-wife Angie Dickinson. NIKKI herself has Asperger's syndrome, and committed suicide at age 40. What a bittersweet realisation for me. What a tender, yet soaring love song, what a tragedy for Angie and Burt ..... but oh, what memories !!!

  • Fantastic!!! I have searched high and low for this song for so long. I knew it was on one of the "Movie" themes from one of the 3 networks, but couldn't remember which. And I agree Mr Bacharach, like Paul Williams & Mike Post, will go down as a musical composing legend, especially for the movie & TV industry. I have downloaded it into my phone for use as a ringtone. Thanks for bringing this back

  • great piece... will have to dig out my LP..

  • One of my favorite Bacharach melodies - and that's saying a lot!! He was (is) one of the greatest composers in pop music history, along with Lennon/McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, George Gershwin....

  • Brilliant song, which has no way out of our minds! Tribute to Nikki Bacharach, always! Big Burt Bacharach, a musical genius!

  • love this guy and his music...genius

  • What a totally different world back then.....I want it back!!!

  • @guyinbrainerd No thanks. I don't ever want to experience adolescence again.

  • the great burt........and his great music

  • Beautuful song. RIP Nikki.

  • Agree with all the other big Burt fans. I used to watch ABC Movie Of The Week just to hear this beautiful song too. It's been a favorite of mine ever since. I was even more touched to learn that Nikki was Burt and Angie's daughter, who is now passed. This song still gives me chills and memories of much better times. Thank you for posting this and allowing us to express our admiration for the song and its great and legendary composer/genius! Love ya Burt!!

  • One of his most beautiful- written for his daughter Nikki- the child he had with Angie Dickinson- A great tribute to them all.

  • remember sneeking down the stairs and listening to this gem that stiired my soul as a kid...and my Dad letting me sit on his lap and watching more than one ABC movies of the week......Burt....you are the man...

  • My favorite composer is Burt Bacharach,I just love this song very, very much!

  • This song is so beautiful, and even more haunting when you know for whom and why it was written. I get an ache in my chest every time I hear it. <3

  • What a great song. This brings back memories of the ABC movie of the week. A glorious tune. I can listen to BB all day long.

  • Love ya Burt, you are the musicians musician!

You have influenced my muusical taste today, and so many more.

Isaac Hayes style was from your music influence. He recorded a number of your songs. Got to credit where credits due. Undeniabely true.

  • Mind boggling. It's got genius written all over it.

It's a pitty that there are major parts of the Bacharach catalog that did not become as well known as some of his lesser works (which, even so, tend to be great).

  • @lvmfah Schumann said about Chopin "Hats off gentlemen--a genius". Well about Mr. Burt B we can say the same--his sophisticated, stylish, unusual melodies are a jewel in American song composition--as good as Gershwin. You feel like a dry martini after listening to them--well, I do anyway. I hope Hal Leonard releases an album of his music only...anybody know??

  • Equally as memorable as Joe Raposo's theme for The 4:30 Movie.

Unfortunately, Raposo's number was never commercially issued.

  • ethed in the minds of us many that snuck up to watch late night ABC movie of the week......i remember this song forever......timeless.

  • I do like the Movie Of The Week version as well. It's more brassy and in-your-face. I'd love to hear that version without the ABC narrator (Ernie Anderson, I believe.)

  • @CineSolutions Yes, you noticed there are two versions as well---what's amazing that in the MOTWeek version, Burt took the secondary theme running underneath and brassed it up. Do I have that right music afienciendos? We may have to compare the two again. Love them both for different reasons. Its such a tender theme--bespeaks his love for his daughter.

  • @windstorm1000

Bacharach didn't do the arrangement that was used on the ABC Movie of the Week; Harry Betts did

  • @gejopari Its quite different from the ABC theme--they share some chords but that's about it. Betts arrangement is almost a new composition.

  • @windstorm1000

I don't hear that at all. Betts' arrangement is very different from (and more dynamic than) Bacharach's (and I quite like them both), but they are both clearly Bacharach's composition "Nikki." I'd say they have a lot more in common than a few chords -- it's the same melody.

  • He's got that Southern California/Tijuana trumpet sound down cold. Fantastic talent!

  • I still stand in awe of Burt Bacharach and the unique way he was able to put some notes and chords together and make pure magic out of it. He is a genius. This song reminds me my childhood in Rio de Janeiro, when my older sister used to call me for a walk in the neighhood. Beautiful songs are 4ever.

  • A beautiful song for his beautiful daughter. May God comfort them even so many years after their loss.

  • Esse estilo é só para os sensíveis, apaixonados, conscientes, educados, inteligentes.

  • adoro essa música, pra mim esse cara é o máximo, the best.

  • Superb! Lovely to listen to any time of day or night. Just a wonderful tune.

  • To call Burt Bacharach a musical genius is an understatement! The man (and his talent) is truly amazing!

  • I cant say I'm very fond of this music, however as an Aspergerian I can certainly share in his grief, in the loss of one of our own.

  • Great Bacharach compostion. Burt's "Look Of Love CD set is my most cherished set of CD's. It;s the one set that I'd most want to be stranded on a deserted island with.

  • BEAUTIFUL, I REMEMBER WATCHING THE ABC MOVIE OF THE WEEK ON TUESDAY NIGHTS WITH THIS THEME SONG.... SOOO BEAUTIFUL, THANKS

  • @maxon888 this songs dominates the beautiful 1970's. so touching.

  • @maxon888 ME TOO! I REMEMBER WATCHING THE ABC MOVIE AND THINKING THIS WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG! ONLY HERE, IT CAME ON AFTER THE FBI ON SUNDAY NIGHTS!

  • @maxon888 yeah, me too, there is a vid on here of the promo , halarious with the clip used/movie...

  • I love Burt Bacharach! A musical genius. His compositions and arrangements were exquisite. Beautiful, interesting, unusual, and unique chord progressions were part of his superb creativity. Many of his songs were technically very difficult to sing...but how beautiful! Thank you very much for posting this.

  • @MALP1231 You said everything I would have liked to say about Burt's music--perceptive ananlysis. All of the above. His music is sophisticated/chic but doesn't look down on you--he pulls you up expands your ear, touches your heart, makes you see melody a new way. Did you notice that there seem to be two Nikki's themes? The main melody here is not the one on the ABC Movie of the Week--but a variant of it--so sophisticated. Bacharach--genius!! Love his music!!

  • @MALP1231 You said it!!

  • So endearing!!!

    Most beautiful lyrics!!

    Burt's & Angie's beloved child...

    God rest her soul!
