When I skate, and somebody tells me not to, I say okay and leave, unless it's public property, then I stay until the cops show up, and even in the rare occurrence of that happening, I'm always respectful to law enforcement. Not only do people not want their shit scratched up, but if one of the skaters cracks their skull open on someone's property, the skater can sue the property owner. That's the major reason why people don't allow skating on their property. They don't want to get sued. I used to skate, and I know it's bullshit. Even if I got hurt on someone's property I wouldn't sue, but people just want to cover their own asses.

That's not what I'm saying. I talk about politics sometimes but it's not that serious to me. What I'm saying is that if you violate the law, you pay for it. The simplest & most rational way to avoid the hassle is to just ride where you're designated. Why would you validate stupid activity by simply saying "it's never going to stop"? Why would you protract the already tenuous relationships that property owners & police have with skaters instead of trying to improve it? Why perpetuate stupid shit?

@upabittoolate we dont have any "Designated areas" in the first place besides small as hell half assed skate parks and then the city officials wonder why we dont go there. It's understandable if building a skatepark is the least of a cities worries, but it shouldn't be such a big question as to why people dont go to the skateparks. and besides, staying in a park all day makes you feel like a caged animal.

@laserbombz You wanna know how to get a "designated area"? Go to an area you where you like to skate & find out if it's not owned by someone other than a bank. Then hit your town's recorder of deeds. Go to a city council meeting & plead your case. Hell, if you've got pluck, you can get a grant to buy materials. THAT'S how adults do it. Believe it or not, you can even get police & citizen SUPPORT because you're coming correct.

@ThePetardaProduction key word - some. Everybody I skate with (and the majority of skaters) are respectful. When I skate, and somebody tells me not to, I say okay and leave, unless it's public property, then I stay until the cops show up, and even in the rare occurrence of that happening, I'm always respectful to law enforcement. It's only the minority of posers that you see on youtube who cause problems.

Actuallly, there is. It's called a lawsuit. Not only do people not want their shit scratched up, but if one of the skaters cracks their skull open on someone's property, the skater can sue the property owner. That's the major reason why people don't allow skating on their property. They don't want to get sued. I used to skate, and I know it's bullshit. Even if I got hurt on someone's property I wouldn't sue, but people just want to cover their own asses.

Cops and security keep sending them away "Go skateboard in your driveway" Yeah right... So then they get cans of spray paint and write on buildings, or tagging signs. You're not allowed to do anything anymore.

Their job isn't to be your bitch. If you get hurt on someone's property skating, it's your fault because you were the one stupid enough to do it. Not them. Also, juries are more likely to fall in favor of a successful business owner, rather than a skater. But that's all capitalism is.
