hello, I have a reef tank that measures 72 inches in length, 28 inches in depth and 21 inches in width. How many such lights would I need in order to provide enough lighting for the corals and anemones?
@prashanth2 We normally would not recommend these lights for such a long aquarium, you would need to use at least 8 of them to cover the entire tank, we would recommend 10-12 for even lighting.
Im thinking of purchasing a few of these lights, I have a custom 40 gallon which is 30inx18inx18in (LxWxH) and I want to keep softies, lps, possible an anemone, how many of these lights would I need for that?
@MrCholrus For this size tank, we would recommend just two of them. You'll want to mount them 14" or so above the aquarium, otherwise it will likely be too much light for your softie and LPS corals.
Hi I have seen great reviews on your PAR38's and i am looking to purchase one for my first reef tank. It is going to be roughly 13gallons 14x14x15 its in the process of being built. I would like to grow SPS eventually and have clams. would one 12k with 2 blue fixture work or would two fixtures be better?
My Tanks is 220G, 72"X30"X24 Miracle tank , how many lights LED i will need if I am planning to go softies only. Currently I have 4X400 MH and 4x54W T5 actinic
@Balomega Hi - Even though your tank is shallow, your tank is pretty long and wide. Your likely going to need 8-10 of the PAR38 lamps mounted 24" or so over the aquarium. It will be plenty of light for softies and even some SPS corals. You may also want to look at our Panorama Pro LED fixtures, they would be a much better option for you.
@319PurpleHaze The spread of the PAR38 lamps is quite narrow, therefore its not a light we would recommend as a stand alone lighting system. To cover your entire tank, you would need close to 12 PAR38's. If your tank is 30" in depth, you may want to look at our Panorama Retrofits and Panorama Modules - these would work much better for you and allow you to remove both your metal halides and actinic tubes.
each LED is how much watt plz let me know b'coz me planing to make it here i find each LED 3 watt . that means i have to fit 50 LED to replace my current MH 150 watt??? i need advice me confused let me know guys waiting for ur reply
@319PurpleHaze Our PAR38 lamps use Cree 3 watt LEDs, however the LEDs produce a much higher amount of light per watt compared to a metal halide. If you let us know how large your tank is, we will be happy to help size the lights for you.
I bought one of your bulbs (PAR38 LED Aquarium Lamp), it is advertised as 21 watts but when I got the bulb it is written 18 watts on it. Is there any particular reason why??????
thank you. but should i use all six bulbs as 12,000K - 2 Royal Blue and 3 White or mix with 455nm Royal Blue - 21w or what? please give me your expert opinion. thanks
It would depend on what type of corals your growing, however on a standard 75 gallon aquarium, we would suggest using a minimum of 8. The lenses are pretty focused, so you would need a fair number of them to ensure the tank doesn't look too "spot-lighty." These are great LED lamps for spot-lighting corals with existing lighting systems.
i have a 55 gallon with a 24 inch MH fixture on one lise and i was wanting one of these for the other side how many would i need?

@iamdjalloy For a 24" length, we would recommend using two of them.

@myersboy6 You could start with one and add another one later, for a tank of this size one of the 12K PAR38 lamps should be plenty of light.

Could I use only one with a 20 gallon tall?
Asianleful 3 months ago
@Asianleful Yes, you could quite easily use one PAR38 lamp on a 20 gallon aquarium.

The PAR38 lamps are actually over-driven a little bit, so they will pull closer to 21w. Sorry for any confusion!

@brentmeighoo We would recommend mixing them - and using 4x12K and 2xRoyal Blue.

love the colours and the shimmer you get from the bulbs. how many bulbs would i need for a 4x2x2 reef tank?
brentmeighoo 1 year ago
@brentmeighoo On a 4'x2'x2' aquarium, you would need about 6 of these for good coverage - it would be a stunning look.

@ecoxotic1 if i mix 1 of these with my 150 watt metal halide would that be enough for a 75 gallon for corals?

I really like this, how many would I need to light a 75 gal reef tank.
