Yep, it was taken directly from iTunes and added directly into the video. Just go to 1:35, when the music changes, the Pioneer keeps playing the same thing. Look at the timer in the top right, it doesn't even go back or forward at all.
Does the Acoustimass speaker system require a subwoofer output from the receiver? Or would it work with an older stereo receiver with just Left and Right speaker terminals?

no its not. i have bose and i once also thought bose was the best, i have since found out otherwise.
there are much higher quality speakers than bose.
(paradigm, b&w, warfedale,martin logan, kef, and a few models from the following, infinity, polk, klipsch)

my parents bought this soundsystem many years ago. the acoustimass was a very good buy back then.
i bought myself a teufel motiv 2. which is alot cheaper, has an integrated amplifier and sounds WAAAAAAAAY better..
the acoustimass totally lacks mids, the teufel has that.

How can I be certain that you did not take a song from iTunes and added it directly into the video?
And, if you did test it, how was the test done? What equipment did you use to record the sound as it came from the speakers?

You don't need to have subwoofer output. You can switch it directly to stereo amplifier simply same like speakers.
