  • why are you comparing johnny cash with kurt cobain they sing totally different genres of music and are from totally different times

  • Cobain wouldn't be anything without Cash...So there.

  • H.A.M

  • jonny casch vorewer

  • dont take your guns to town?! thats like telling your kid they can have sex but they cant use a condom! you gotta have protection

  • @MrPersonaLover

Don't Take Your Guns To Town son

.......but you can borrow the RPG .........Bill

  • @l2a3sterling

They should play this in Afganistan and Iraq. Substitute Bill for Hamid or Mohamad. The Canadian light Infantry is coming for you. Leave your AKs at home.

  • @l2a3sterling

or you can bring your nerf guns to town

  • the most random comparison, cash and cobain? really??

  • @sportsfan9217 Cobain is one of the most overrated musicians ever. If he hadn't killed himself, nobody would even remember him.

  • Both johnny and cobain were great. Johnny was much better for what he played and Kurt was much better for what he played. if you dont like both then just gtfo.

  • "Johnny was better than cobain"?

Dumbest thing i've heard, you are compairing two guys who made two different kinds of music.

  • @zamoiG And you didnt get it.

  • @zamoiG

Of course Johnny was better. No question.

  • Interesting how the guitar keeps playing after he sets it down to put his arms around the boys.

  • You do not know how to please no one named the film as he played there as an actor playing the evil king in the film Gladiator, please send us the mejla Medluk@seznam.cz

  • Cobain,,,, that's bullshit J.R. is the man

  • In the early 60's Johnny was to put on a show in Cheyenne, WY. My parents went, but were disappointed when only the band showed up----Johnny was in the calaboose. He later got past that drunkenness and didn't miss so many shows.

  • @blueberries4ever I love to hear anecdotes like this

  • I think Cobain and Cash were on their own levels of greatness. You can't say one was better than the other. That's just plain ignorance.

  • Johnny Cash had his own genre of music.

  • Guns keep the peace =)

  • what a strange video with those kids and such in the back ground...

  • Johnny released this on his first Columbia album late 1958. I was disappointed because he had written "The Restless Kid" for Ricky Nelson and his movie Rio Bravo. But the song never made the movie and Ricky released it anyway at the same time Johnny had this song released. Johnny supposedly had his choice of song and went with Dont Take Your Gun To Town. I thought Ricky's song was better. Fifty two years later and Johnny's song is all over the web, Ricky's is an asterisk.

  • 5 people took their guns to town

  • there is no one to compare Cash to. please. .

  • @crx350x1 yep,,right on,,

  • Cash AND Kurt Cobain are both ledgends, in different areas of music! you cant compare them, but they both put their all into their songs, so much effort and emotion, and for that they are both brilliant

  • i've never seen video of him dressed that much in the "western" cliche before. wonder if that was sullivan's people.

  • @XxXBWOMPxXx

You absolutely have to look up more of J. Cash's songs. No matter what genre you enjoy, he appealed and appeals to all. Personally I'm a hip hop fan and I really appreciate all he had to offer.

  • Why would anyone compare Cobain and Cash? Both were more than we deserve and, obviously, more than some can appreciate.

  • lol worlds first music vid haha

  • At least Johnny was a stayer, unlike some people. So you are right there is no comparison between Cash and Cobain.

  • jonny cash was a crack person b

  • jonny cash was a crack person

  • Pretty sad song actually, but it teaches a lesson.

  • kurt sucks johnny rule. end of story!

  • Don't take your guns to town unless UR in AZ. Used to be able to take them into the bars still might be able too :-)

  • johnny is the man he is a true legend...

  • amazing

  • his voice is so hypnotizing and powerful... almost like he has the voice of a god haha

  • my old dad would sing this to me when I was a boy going outside to play cowboys and indians...wow was he ever loaded!!

  • Curt who?

  • This man has done more for America and the human psyche then any goverment official!!!! Bless you Mr Johnny.

  • Johnny Cash is the man.

  • Im not going to even get involved in this trivial Cash/Cobain nonsence..... Im just gonna like this song and listen to it!!!!!!

  • There isn't a better American story teller who ever lived.

  • Who's Cobain?

  • @EntertainmentTrends cobain isn't a who it was a subject one of wonder and ahh's you see what we learned from it was just how the human body can endure from narcotics and stds, and for that beiber kid i think were goin to get to test what happens when your stampeded to death by 60lbs girls.... I'm gunna lay my money on it not being a pretty sight untill the end:) I can't wait!!!!!!!

  • This is a great song..

  • Cobain took his own life at 27 leaving his infant daughter fatherless. There's no comparison. Johnny fought addiction, won, raised a family, and lived to be a ripe old age.

  • Look at how young he was!

  • king johnny nerver die!

  • This dedicated to Jimmy Bribble " Dont Take your Bumps to Town Jim, Leave your Bumps at Home Jim..

  • He missed a verse

  • RIP

  • Does the NRA have a comment?

  • Please no more mention of that guy from Nirvana, Cash is a Legend, that other guy was should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Johnny.

    "Nuff Said"

  • there will never another jonny cash

  • Opinions are like a..holes--everybody has one.--BUT (no pun intended) Cash was/is the sh..

  • Very honest and Sweet.

Johnny has rejected violence and is on his way to Glory.

    Peace.

  • This kind of country is so different than what is played today. I can actually listen to this. Always regret that I found His music after he died.

  • The great thing is, I understand every word! He actually enunciated.

  • @Mveculous what they call country today is a fucking disgrace. Eg taylor swift, just another pop fiend.

  • @S1Z3M I agree country is really different today it's hard to find any true artists.

  • who is compairing the man in black to kurt cobain... are u out of ur mind johnny cash is a legend

  • i guess i am late , but who put cobain with johnny . i guess the drugs are showing !

  • Compare Kurt Cobain to Johnny Cash....are you kidding me ? That's like comparing the Backstreet boy's to the Beatles.

  • Whatever your opinion of Kurt Cobain, he's not in the same class as Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash is in the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters' Hall of Fame. No one else has ever done that. Johnny Cash had class and was in a class all his own.

  • i cant believe people are having this discussion, they were both genius at what they did. grunge and country are so different it's idiotic to say who's better

  • @BiancaBoyC I'll tell you who's better - Johnny Cash Hands Down. Cobain was no genius as you say and was barely a musician, His blathering lyrics mad no sense to anyone except maybe a Charles Manson type who gathers meaning out of garbage.

This Idiot who compared Cobain to Cash obviously got hold of some bad crack and smoked way to much of it.

  • @YuraJagov Your the one who's smokin crack buddy. Your whole comment contradict's itself. I like Cash alot and I can respect his music ( a boy named sue ) Is one of my favorite songs of all time. Cobains music spkoe to a totally different generation and I wouldnt expect you to understand It since you were born In 1964. They were both legands in their own genre of music, witch were TOTALLY different from each other and it doesnt make ANY sense to compare them. Just shut up and enjoy the music

  • @BiancaBoyC,

I stand by my statement and most in here will agree with it.

You stated my whole comment contradicts itself but you don't state where as your comment makes you look like you are talking out your ass.

Now just go listen to that Nirvana garbage and don't mess with those of us who prefer a more cultivated, understandable brand of music.

Otherwise you can just take that painted boat back to San Fransisco.

  • @YuraJagov

Well, I am with you. Cobain may have been entertaining and he may have been suffering, but he was weak and selfish. If he had an ounce of faith and love for his daughter, he wouldn't have troubled everyone else with his selfish decision.

  • @haitipi

    Well stated.

  • @YuraJagov your statement conradicts itslef because your arguement is pointless. I'ma listen to Nirvana and cash and whatever the f*ck i want to listen to. You can just keep smokin crack and listening to Cash cause it sounds like you got the Cocaine Blues

  • @BiancaBoyC

Real intelligent, your babbling, rambling nonsense only highlights your wit.

I won't even mention your spelling.

Why don't you take that old Chevy off the blocks and tow it to the junkyard and clean up some of that trash in front of your trailer.

  • @YuraJagov wow....you got me.... i can only hope to be as witty as you one day. Hopefully when i'm 46 i'll have something better to do with my time then argue on youtube

  • Johnny was better than Cobain

  • @SoccerPro365 um... i'm one of the kids who heard the news and cried her eyes out for a month or more, i love cobain, but he does NOT hold a flame to cash.

  • @SoccerPro365

    WAY BETTER!

  • @SoccerPro365 ....ha...yes...Johnny was better than Cobain...could you possibly bless us with a few more osbscure comparisons.

  • @SoccerPro365 Both of them were great .... they are now making great music

  • its a sacrilege to even compare johnny with cobain.

  • I have to agree with you, both are very good artists and I believe they stand alone. Cash is a master. Cobain is a master. But they are both very different.

  • @Metropolitan0323 cobain was a pussy. Cash was a man's man-a living legend

  • @Metropolitan0323 Sacrilege doesn't even come close to it Cobain was a punk b*tch who needed to die so god would forgive him Johnny Cash is so amazing that god wanted a personal show so he took him home to see his family may god bless his soul

  • @Metropolitan0323 Can't agree. They had a lot in common; they loved their art and simply couldn't handle what was put on their plate. It happens. Think Elvis, Michael Jackson and, to a HUGELY lesser extent, Anna Nicole Smith. If you get a chance at fame, remember that it's a two edged sword. Master it, don't let it master you, because it and the fans, ultimately, do NOT care.

    Norm

  • @Metropolitan0323 huge Mr Cash fan who the hell is cobain,,,,

  • @paulinus43ad a dope head thats who!!

  • @TheJaredwise ahh makes sense,,,

  • @Metropolitan0323 *never should we be so apt to ever compare one shade of black to another, the maxim for both those men: their music and their voices lay not forgotten, for even be in pain and then refrain - their music will remain. Legends-Thank You Mr. Cash, Thank you Mr. Cobain

  • @Metropolitan0323 Nonsense. It's not "sacrilege" to compare the two. They were both talented in different ways. To compare them is to compare apples and oranges. Each was influenced by the dominant cultural influences of his time. It is too simplistic to say that one was better than the other, in my opinion.

  • @Metropolitan0323

They were both excellent brilliant musicians. Equally

  • @nirvanalover14 dude kurt cobain is INFERIOR to THE MAN IN BLACK.

  • i miss this old style of music, noone does this anymore

  • one of the ALL TIME GREATS ,

  • johnny was one of the best

  • if you dont like jonny i know what you can do go kill your self because you ant worth a penny

  • if u dont like johnny GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE USA

  • these comments are funny , yes the man in black wore white in his early day , lol

  • love this ballad

  • you suck asshole, you just don´t hear the music

  • hahaha you don´t know nothing about music, this is history Johnny is a Legend. what about your fuckin drug addict son of a bitch you call kurt cobain, that music is shit... pinche gringo joto

  • that is a shitty arguement.. i love the music of kurt cobain.. i also love Johnny cash but he was an addict too.. he had a long history of amphetamine and Barbiturate and using his own words he has "tried every drug there was to try"

  • thats is so cute footage

  • Good for you. It is nice to find young folks open-minded enough to check out music from the long-ago past. There are many great surprises from the past.

If you like this, also check out the superb work of Marty Robbins and Johnny Horton, just to name a few!

  • don't leave out merle haggard

  • leave your gun at home bill

  • Wonderful, as archi451 said, a pleasure to hear and watch. Music will never be the same.

  • How great...will he not be buried in a time capsule to be dug up in 1000 years and be taught like the George Washington was to us.

  • This is a wonderful video. a real pleasure to hear and watch. Thanks for posting.

  • its great someone cares about the classics. thanks for sharing!!

  • Johnny Cash is nice with children.

  • He is trying to take out the boys gun! Looks funny thought!

  • JohnnyVollan, you probably stole this video like you do all of cortexmellon's and mine and claimed it as your own.

  • Now all we need is him on Country Style USA, and the Jackie Gleason Show, and his entire fifties performances will be complete. /:\

  • Country Style USA exists in what i would call very good quality among collectors. Jackie Gleason show however, doesnt seem to be around. I watched it at the Museum of TV and Radio in New York. The show is 1 hour in total, while JC's guest appearence lasts about 6-8 minutes. He sings a couple of songs and thats it, no interviews.

  • Yeah I've seen pictures of the performance in Marshal Grant's book. Where can I find his country Style USA stuff?

  • (I have the sound recordings of his first two, and "Home Of The Blues" on CD.)

  • You can buy the DVDs of those performances from the Bear Family, as well as Town Hall Party I think

  • Love it. Thanks for posting.
