@Suqatish "Doing drugs" shouldn't be a criminal offense in the first place... you should be able to put what you want in your own body,,otherwise Alcohol should be illegalised too.

As for the so-called "higher standards", they most certainly are not. MANY studies (some whose results have even been used here on youtube docs) show that the standards are MUCH lower as they save the corporation money.

@Suqatish prices as high as possible as it is unchecked. If someone wants to use drugs, they should be able to; just like consuming alcohol is legal. The crime should be, for example, operating a car while intoxicated, but there IS such a thing as responsible recreational drug-use. If it were legalised, controlled, taxed and regulated like all other products, there wouldn't be a black market, and people wouldn't have to steal to support their drug-choices, which they should have a right to do

I actually know someone who was inside one of those horrid places,&what he said was compatible with the studies.The food was VERY low quality (sometimes inedible), riots are MUCH MUCH higher, & no staff lasts long, so ALL the "guards" are always inexperienced newbies. Plus, no matter what someone is in there for, being a criminal doesn't mean you aren't a human being anymore. ANYONE profiting from having people incarcerated is a conflict of interest & wrong

@Suqatish Just because someone has committed a crime doesn't mean they have to be treated like shit. The loss of their freedom is the "punishment" that prisons serve, NOT "live a really shitty life".

The "profit" factor should never be a factor, because then someone has a vested interest in your incarceration. And yes, tighter laws ARE enacted to serve this profit-drive, because they send ppl to LOBBY congress for them. In the last ten years, the new laws have directly DOUBLED the prison

FYI: I completely agree that private prisons are absolutely terrible but they only make up 5% of all of America's prisons. Keep supporting state run institutions and make sure the legislature stands firm against lobbyists!

@Suqatish population in there. MANY of these people are non-violent (in fact, a majority of them).. "doing drugs" is not a crime, let alone a violent one. Those who steal aren't mostly do so because the discriminatory pro-alcohol/anti-drug laws force them to. And no, they shouldn't have to give up doing drugs. Why should they? The government's job is to educate people about the effects of drugs, but the final decision should be up to the individual, and as long as the use is private and

Disapproving of someone's choice or having a low opinion of it does NOT give anyone the right to make it illegal, ESPECIALLY when most of those lawmakers drink alcohol themselves. the problem here is that its not really privatized its contracted. what i mean is that there is not much competition or free market to reguklate it because it still falls under government control. the company will do whatever the governement want which will create the secrecy and cloak andagger because the company will do what ever it can win the contract. A sister to the cause lost her brother Larry Neal, a schizophrenic heart patient. He was arrested and died in jail, without treament. @Justinfhtube They've already set ridiculous laws into motion with The Patriot Act. If they really took the war on terrorism seriously then America's borders would be sealed tighter then North Korea's, as it stands now Mexicans can travel back and forth almost at will. There's no shortage of man power or technology to do it, yet almost 10 years on since that act was passed and little has changed down there. Except more US citizens are being sent to prison on ridiculous charges.
