@JoshTheDrummer69 No. It is perfectly acceptable by our dress standards to allow First Nations to wear their hair as such. Frankly, does not make them a lesser soldier.
@teeps1974 not to mention, if he is my fire team partner in theater and we get gassed, and he puts his gas mask one but its not sealed cause of the long hair, then im fucked. Frankly, it makes him a useless soldier when hes dead cause he couldnt put his mask on, am i wrong?
@JoshTheDrummer69 Current dress regulations do take these things into account. The current dress regs allow for First Nations to wear their hair as such. I am a CSM, I do not have a say in this matter and neither do you. It has been decided, and so we work with the regulations.
@capajc After basic there is sometimes a bit of a wait before a course opens up and we're loaded on our trade training, but once we have that we are right in the fold.
Heh I was supposed to do my BMQ In Borden as a Navy Reservist, starting this year though I have been told that Individuals in the Navy Reserve will be doing their BMQ in Halifax from now on. Everyone who has gone to Borden so far told me it was a blast though haha..
I was in Borden in 1988, 1990 and 1991. This brings back a lot of memories. And the rooms are the same as they were back then. Incidentally, if you watch the movie "The Last Detail" with Jack Nicholson and Randy Quaid, the first twenty minutes or so of the movie were filmed in and around CFSEME, the mess hall over there, and the barracks next to A 147, where I lived. It's old, but it's a good film.
@TheIronicBanana The rules were to keep them in the closet or with you at all times, even when you are using the washroom except the shower, and not to play around with them i.e Pointing them at people, and playing around.
@TheVoraciousSnapmare Relax dude, it's shacks in Borden, the only thing these young lads are protecting there is their own sanity from bordem. There's more information to be gathered about anything OPSEC from a recruiting video than these guys every day lives. There's nothing here to get twisted up about.
borden, home away from home.:)

@dynastyballer13 why would it be allowed? doesnt it go aggainst the CF policy?
JoshTheDrummer69 2 weeks ago

teeps1974 1 week ago
@teeps1974 I never said it will "make them a lesser soldier" , but, for the CF policy regarding hair, "Hair on the head shall be neatly groomed
and conservatively styled. The length, bulk or style of
hair shall not detract from a positive military
appearance or preclude the proper wear of military
headdress" does long hair have a positive military appearance? especially when its not done up like females do?

Wasting time with the kiwi cloth one bag of cotton ball will last you your entire 9 week BMQ, and you get a way better shine faster.
