this is the first time ive heard this version, i know the 1985 version. Was this song that was put onto some pressings of 'Broken Arrow' ? It sounds more like a home recording than a studio one.
I agree with all the various and positive comments. But let me notice the particular sweetness of Neil's unmistakeble voice as he sings the word 'home': he fills me with mildness and makes me get into a calm state. So much grace comes to me through this great artist and man. Love
In these last times I turned back to my great love of many years ago, Neil. But actually I turned back to myself and now I feel so fine... I really ADORE Neil and I want to thank you so so so much for being such a great fan and for posting such beautiful and rare pièces of work, so helpful to me. And my compliments for your videos, too. Thank you. Peace, love and grace on you.
I think that it's my favourite video of you for the time being.Everything is interesting : music, Neil's voice and your work.Heartfelt congratulation really.I hope to write correctly! Keep up your video.
Did Jack hear the "soft voice calling him back home"? I read the book but I forgot if he had a nastalgia to "bring his {guitar} home" aka go "home" somewhere. Just wondering. ~cg
Not in a hundred years, He is a man sharing his thoughts from is mind with us, and its feel great to me. I hope i can speak one day with him , its crazy but neil makes my life compleet and i still thinking what the do if he is not around , then in a few year its just a memory
i love the hisses, pops, and slights in this, it makes for a better song. almost sounds like it was uploaded directly from vinyl. don't clean this up, i love it. THANKS
I am 33 years old and have loved Neil since being a Junior in High School. This is WONDERFUL and please know how thankful I am to see this! In my favorites!
This beautiful song evokes Will to Love, Like an Inca, Ambulance Blues, On the Beach, and shows Neil's true prowess as social statesman and observer of the natural world.. Can't wait for those archives - to hear a clear version..
i don't think that's neil on electric. this is the version from the ragged glory period, and it sounds like someone had some fun pretending to be neil on top of it.
uh, no, the recording of "interstate" is from the ragged glory period. and the overdub at the end is from some fan trying to be like shakey, and failing miserably.
This is the most deep emotion i have ever felt put into music. Amazing overdub, didnt try and overdo it, just some crazy riffs at the end, that remind me of cars screaming by on the interstate.
Wow. Deep for sure. Good insight about not rying to overdo it. I feel the guitar overdub as longing and emotional pain at being lonely. The car analogy is quite interesting though! The sound goes "in and out" as cars screamin' by would. Wow! I can see that. Neil himself may say "if that is what you hear...than yeah!" er som'm like that (-;. ~cg
I like your comment a lot! Inspiration is infective. Neil is like a fix with no bad side effects. Enjoy your epic life! May all our lives be epic! ~cg
I used to be a (rock)singer. Then yoga took over as my ears were bleeding.... But after seven years of streatching I have recently returned to my guitar and, ofcourse-----------listening to neil young! It´s like falling in love again. It´s like coming home.
it's just amazing how many beatiful songs this guy have, songs that were never released...makes you really wonder how does he choose the songs for album, thinking of some crap he put out in the 80's...
his record company sued him recently for putting out "unpopular music" because he didnt sell as many records when he experimented with different types
Well all I can say is he pulled it off. He put out "unpoular GREAT music" IMO. Some so so stuff but rarely and when he did it is still most often more interesting and "better" than a lot of other musical artists. I commend him highly for it! ~cg
Hey CG5, thanks for the invite and the kind words for LIVE RUST. Had to hear this one...first time ever hearing it, and Neil still goes straight to the heart!! Love Live Neil!
He saw beyond his years & his talent was meant to be shared..........his lyrics have been touching my soul since first heard him in the early 80's as a young girl. Thank U for posting so much of his great stuff on your channel..........I will be back for sure! ~ Jo
His Lyrics do so touch the soul. I had one cassette tape (After the Gold Rush) with me on a seven day vacation years back. It was all I listened to the entire trip ad infinitum. I NEVER got tired of it. I found that so unusual and strange. I don't remember that ever happenening to me with another artist/s with such concentrated and lengthy repetion! Thanks Jo. ~cg5
Thanks Gil and catia512. Neil has been proving his uniqueness for over 40 years. What a gift it is to be recipients of his talents. We all know there will never be another Neil Young (in a myriad of ways.) Long may he run.............
Completely agree with you! He is definitelt gifted and can convey the human condition beautifully in his songs. I read somewhere that Dylan writes about things going on around him while Young writes about the emoions he feels inside and is able to bring those out for others to feel. That's why I gravitate to Young's music. I have fun playing his songs and he inspires me to write my own!
This is superb!! Such a beautiful song that I have never heard before (I'm not a bootleg collector). Thanks for posting this great song and making a great video to go with it!
