At the end where you said play a game on the cloud storage and you will get your rank back. Do you have to keep doing it like in updates, or when you get reset do you play on cloud and you will get your rank back?

@TheEmThirty I just play a lot. I currently have 34 onyx medals. I have all the beast and campaign medals, and almost all of the horde medals. All the rest are multiplayer medals. I have been playing Gears since Gears 1 so I'm quite good, and I estimate I have probably spent at least 400 hours on this game so far. So it's not unusual to have that many medals. I'm always working towards getting onyx medals, and I'm just about to unlock about 4 more. So, no hacking. Just hard work.

@gavinburnett91 Your beta items become linked to your player data. So if you do the backup method shown in the video, then your beta items will get backed up too. I got reset but I had a backup, so when I used my backup all my beta stuff is still there.
@jonohugo I have just done it, all you need to do is select your usb memory (instead of the cloud, as on the video) when the game starts up, then play your short game to confirm it all

@DrooPy5101 Sorry for the late reply, I was having computer trouble for the last week. You can't get your data back if you have already been reset. The only thing you can do is make a backup to prevent it from happening again.
What does the 'Saved Campaigns' file specifically include? And what file are campaign related stats (such as collectibles or medals) stored?
I'm guessing that 'Saved Campaigns' is so that you can continue from a previous checkpoint, and that the medals/collectibles go under the 'player data' file... am I right?
@VrSword Sorry for the late reply, I was having computer trouble for a week or so. The saved campaigns file contains your collectibles, current checkpoint, and all the data on which chapters you have completed and on what difficulty. So if your saved campaigns file is reset, it will look like you have never played campaign before. Except, ALL medal info is stored in the player data file. So you will retain all campaign/arcade related medas.

I know the new DLC allows you to reset your level by your own choice.
However, after downloading the DLC, I have gotten reset to level 1! Not a green number 1 which would indicate I had reset my level by my own free will: plain white number 1.
Has this happened to anybody else?! I was level 97!

You can get everything back if you made a backup before being reset. If not, you can try deleting your player data file from your gears of war 3 save, and then recovering your gamertag. @Febrezay You can disable it. Go into your system storage and then press the Y button on the cloud and that will give you the option to disable it. When it asks you if you want the content stored there to be available on other consoles say yes. You will have to re-enable the cloud every time you want to update your backup or use it to recover your rank though.
does this mean that when i download fenix rising.. and get auto set to 1 from level 80 :/ i can then put my cloud saves back on.. and only be 20 levels off re-upping?
@gibbo045 You don't get automatially set to level 1 when you download Fenix Rising. You choose whether you want to re-up or not when you get to level 100.

I got reset while on my friends xbox. I'm still not at my house where my xbox is, and I'm sure that my original save is there. I only put 1 save file, I think my campaign part, into the cloud save. If I go back home, and turn on my xbox, will I get my l100 again?
Thanks for making this vid. I just made a cloud and a USB backup to be safe. I was wondering if you could answer something for me though. Would I have to backup my dlc as well or is that saved to my player data? I don't want to lose my Characters and Skins.
@aaronawesome66 DLC is not affected by a reset, because it is linked to your gamertag instead of your player data. You don't really need to back them up, but they can be copied to another storage device if you feel like it.

@GOW3rankreset I believe you delete the gamertag first, and then download it. Here is the official xbox support page relating to downloading your gamertag: support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-360/settings-and-initial-setup/profile-move-delete. Delete your player data file from your hard drive first and then recover your gamertag. Keep in mind that this only works a VERY small amount of the time. Usually once you have been reset your data is all gone unless you had a backup.

Chrome Retro Lancer - Earn the Domination Achievement in Gears 1. @rtousley1 Backupsonly work if you made them before you were reset. If you have just been reset and don't have a backup you can try deleting your player data from your hard drive and recovering your gamertag, and then start up the game and see if your data comes back. If that doesn't work then your data will be all gone :(
nice vid it helped me alot. just a little tip i use a camera and i use a camera stand, but if you dont, just get sum boxes or books to get the camera steady and not moving. still a nice video brah
@THECRIMSONWARRIOR1 Yeah, I don't have a camera stand so I was just holding it. I tried to use a ladder to put the camera on, but my tv is up quite high and it's only a short ladder so it wasn't tall enough. Boxes would have been a great idea, or I could put some books on top of the ladder to make it a bit taller next time. Thanks :)
I think it's better that you cannot "Copy" your data to the cloud because if you were reset or corrupted, it would upload that save the second you went to the dashboard to the cloud.
@yungswagg347 Yes. To update your backup, load up the game select the cloud and play 1 game of anything. When it's finished back out to the main menu and dashboard and you are all done. Then you can load up from your hard drive and play normally.
@brnmbrns This is strongly discouraged, because changing storage devices in game is one of the ways that your player data can become corrupted. So you can get reset, or end up with a corrupted backup by doing it that way. It is much safer to return to the dashboard and load the game back up to switch storage locations.
@VideoFletcher That is explained at the end of the video. You would delete the corrupted player data file from your hard drive and then load up the game and select your backup drive and all your stuff will be back. Play 1 game to restore your data on the servers, then you can dashboard and load up from your hard drive. Everything should be back to normal after that.
Everyone who plays gears of war 3 SHOULD do this. I have been reset twice at level 100 and it absolutely sucks! I wish they had this before it happened to me :(
@bowser5295 It should be. When you disable it, it will ask if you want the content to still be available on other consoles. Say yes. You will need to re-enable the cloud to update your backup, or use it if you get reset.
Hello xSuperLuckyx, I experienced a reset and I was a level 100 with 20 onyx medals. All my stats were erased including stats from horde and beast. I am wondering if there is a way to get my old stats back. Also, I've been playing recently and now I am a level 24 and I was wondering if playing and earning new stats would ruin my old stats. PLEASE help me out because I am very upset and I do not know what to do anymore. Thanks.
@Ravens7771 I'm very sorry to say that there is no way that you can get your old data back. Once you have been reset, the only way you can get your stuff back is using a backup if you made one beforehand. You can make a backup to prevent it from happening again, but that's all you can do.
Hi. i appreciate this video a lot! I was wondering if i have to keep the cloud storage enabled in order to keep my back ups saved? also if when i want to save to cloud again do i delete what was there previously and download stats again?
@dragondinner I think you can disable the cloud if you want, but you will have to re-enable it to update your backup. When you want to update your backup you don't need to delete the old files. Just load the game up and choose cloud, then play 1 game and it will overwrite your old files with all your new data. You should do this every couple of days, so it's probably easier to leave cloud enabled.
Hi xSuperLuckyx will this work with two profiles? If i get reset won't it just give me my brothers save file since he has a better rank? And will this work for the campaign if you get reset can i get my campaign save stats back?
So, if this were to happen to me, everything would be reset am I right? Like, campaign file, multiplayer AND even weapon skins/dlc? Since I just made a new backup, would that mean I would have to re-download all the other weapon skins/dlc?
@Stigmatic93 Campaign data is stored seperate. You either lose your rank/medals, OR your campaign progress/collectibles. Your DLC should be fine, and your weapon skins will be safe as long as you have a backup file. You can copy your DLC items to your backup drive if you are worried, but nothing should really happen to them.
My respect level for Epic Games has fallen so low ever since they did this. If it happens again, I'm boycotting any game made by them.

Thanks for making this vid. I just made a cloud and a USB backup to be safe. I was wondering if you could answer something for me though. Would I have to backup my dlc as well or is that saved to my player data? I don't want to lose my Characters and Skins.

@aaronawesome66 DLC is not affected by a reset, because it is linked to your gamertag instead of your player data. You don't really need to back them up, but they can be copied to another storage device if you feel like it.

hey, please reply!!!!! alright so i was reset today...i understand what this video is about and will be using cloud from now on but i need advice on how to recover my rank. so earlier today i went on and i noticed my rank went to 1. the second that happened i turned off my xbox and removed the game lol. i am yet to put it back in and if i go into my player data it comes up as corrupt.flm. i heard somwhere i can recover my gt but with this new layout i dont know what im doing. please help.

@GOW3rankreset I believe you delete the gamertag first, and then download it. Here is the official xbox support page relating to downloading your gamertag: support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-360/settings-and-initial-setup/profile-move-delete. Delete your player data file from your hard drive first and then recover your gamertag. Keep in mind that this only works a VERY small amount of the time. Usually once you have been reset your data is all gone unless you had a backup.

@SandyyBreasts That is the Chrome weapon skin. You unlock the Chrome skins for having achievements in the previous Gears of War games. Chrome Lancer - Earn the Don't Hate the Player Achievement in Gears 1. Chrome Hammerburst - Earn the Dirty Dirty Horde Achievement in Gears 2. Chrome Retro Lancer - Earn the Domination Achievement in Gears 1. Chrome Gnasher - Complete the Gears 1, 2 and 3 campaigns (Any difficulty) Chrome Sawed-off - Earn any Achievement in Gears of War for the PC.

@rtousley1 Backupsonly work if you made them before you were reset. If you have just been reset and don't have a backup you can try deleting your player data from your hard drive and recovering your gamertag, and then start up the game and see if your data comes back. If that doesn't work then your data will be all gone :(

nice vid it helped me alot. just a little tip i use a camera and i use a camera stand, but if you dont, just get sum boxes or books to get the camera steady and not moving. still a nice video brah

I tried to use a ladder to put the camera on, but my tv is up quite high and it's only a short ladder so it wasn't tall enough. Boxes would have been a great idea, or I could put some books on top of the ladder to make it a bit taller next time. Thanks :)

I think it's better that you cannot "Copy" your data to the cloud because if you were reset or corrupted, it would upload that save the second you went to the dashboard to the cloud.

@yungswagg347 Yes. To update your backup, load up the game select the cloud and play 1 game of anything. When it's finished back out to the main menu and dashboard and you are all done. Then you can load up from your hard drive and play normally.

After backing up, instead of going all the way to dashboard, just press start, options & change your storage location back to the HD.

@brnmbrns This is strongly discouraged, because changing storage devices in game is one of the ways that your player data can become corrupted. So you can get reset, or end up with a corrupted backup by doing it that way. It is much safer to return to the dashboard and load the game back up to switch storage locations.

@VideoFletcher That is explained at the end of the video. You would delete the corrupted player data file from your hard drive and then load up the game and select your backup drive and all your stuff will be back. Play 1 game to restore your data on the servers, then you can dashboard and load up from your hard drive. Everything should be back to normal after that.

@bowser5295 It should be. When you disable it, it will ask if you want the content to still be available on other consoles. Say yes. You will need to re-enable the cloud to update your backup, or use it if you get reset.

Hello xSuperLuckyx, I experienced a reset and I was a level 100 with 20 onyx medals. All my stats were erased including stats from horde and beast. I am wondering if there is a way to get my old stats back. Also, I've been playing recently and now I am a level 24 and I was wondering if playing and earning new stats would ruin my old stats. @Ravens7771 I'm very sorry to say that there is no way that you can get your old data back. Once you have been reset, the only way you can get your stuff back is using a backup if you made one beforehand. You can make a backup to prevent it from happening again, but that's all you can do.

@dragondinner I think you can disable the cloud if you want, but you will have to re-enable it to update your backup. When you want to update your backup you don't need to delete the old files. Just load the game up and choose cloud, then play 1 game and it will overwrite your old files with all your new data. You should do this every couple of days, so it's probably easier to leave cloud enabled.

So, if this were to happen to me, everything would be reset am I right? Like, campaign file, multiplayer AND even weapon skins/dlc? Since I just made a new backup, would that mean I would have to re-download all the other weapon skins/dlc?

@Stigmatic93 Campaign data is stored seperate. You either lose your rank/medals, OR your campaign progress/collectibles. Your DLC should be fine, and your weapon skins will be safe as long as you have a backup file. You can copy your DLC items to your backup drive if you are worried, but nothing should really happen to them.
