  • A musician myself, with almost 20 years of live experience, I've heard "Ipanema" played by probably a 1000 musicians, and I can't think of ANYONE who would have injected the same freshness and personality into it as Emily. She probably just hasn't had other people fill her head with restricting musical "ideals." Truly a free (musical) spirit!

  • I have heard other versions of this song.......

    BUT Emily's is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!

  • @1laoman Have to agree with you!! Her interpretations are every bit as good as her compositions - pure genius! She takes "classic" compositions and completely makes them her own. It's pretty wonderful!!!

  • OMg I'm from brazil i NEVER have seen a person play this song so wonderfull this way :D

  • Ela já ta mais popular que Nostradamos kkkkkk

  • i love how in every video she wears a headband. it's like her "thing." she's adorable.

  • Emily, your brilliance stuns all. Every time I listen I get inspired but at the same time dumbfounded. Strive for greatness in the musical world, and don't let anyone or anything take you down.

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • NICE - the kid has a positive talent for jazz!! I wonder if this is her arrangement - anybody know?? That said, is it just me, or does she sort of "muddy" the emotions and evocations somewhat when she performs in the jazz genre? It's very exiting stuff, but i just don't get the same feeling i do from listing to jazz giants such as Duke Ellington and Charlie Parker.

  • I don't know if it's her take on the song but I think it probably it is. As for muddying the emotions - if I understand your meaning - I would put that down to being 7(!) years old. The sort of wistfulness of unrequited love (which is how I see this song) is probably not a pleasure she's had to endure yet :) I'm sure that as she gets older her emotions will get broader - but I hope not too broad too soon- she is so sweet at the moment.

  • Must agree with you completely on all counts!! She IS so truly sweet..... one can only hope that she will not be corrupted, or at least nowhere near the amount Mozart was, lol, by all the attention and adulation she's receiving.

  • You have to remember that this is all through the mind of a child who has not matured. That makes what she does all that more amazing. So much of jazz style incorporates life experiences. Her life is just beginning with very little of the ups and downs that add the melancholy or exhilaration of older performers. I like what she does. It is so innocent. As she said, "I guess it comes from my heart."

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • this kid is awesome!!! BRAVOOOOO!!!!

  • very interesting song...she played it beautifully though

  • i love her!! she is amazing<3

  • what a great performance,

    she's so nice and amazing

  • I can almost hear Sammy singing his Boom Chicka Boom Chicka's. lol

  • I know what you mean, this kid has SOUL!

  • It seems like she's grown up now. I almost don't recognize her any more...

  • That was wonderful.
