    Seals dying?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Hey Matt.. What's the best way to clean the mirror and focus screen on this beauty? And what about the digital cameras? I ask cause i own a FE2 and a nikon D7000 son im kind of scared about cleaning those.

  • Hey Matt, I was curious if you could recommend a good landscape lens for the FE 2?

  • @intosh0812 any old wide angle will do the job. If you are happy with min aperture, modern lenses, otherwise you need a non gelded lens (with aperture ring)

  • Good vid, Matt. The FE is a great little camera. It was the first 35mm I bought, back in the day, and although I had the shutter springs replaced and some foam trim, it remains a solid workhorse to this day. Bought mine in 1981. Love the solid "thunk" the shutter makes when taking a shot. It's built forever.

  • I shoot a Nikkormat FTN always with velvia 50, wonderful camera.

  • I've been using the FE since I was about 12 years old. I am now 38 and still have the FE, along with the F4s, N90s, and D100. The FE is my defacto camera for shooting chromes, the N90s is my backup or when I need reliable AF and exposure. My F4s falls somewhere in between, but I love the size of the viewfinder on it the most. The D100, well, it's good for casual stuff.

Long exposures are NO problem on the FE.

  • nice :) i LOVE FILM

  • Matt sent me from the future!

    Peace out! :D

  • So whats the difference between F3 fm2 and FE ? because i want al of them! =3

  • Thank you for your great FE review, just got one, and a 50mm 1.2 lens (all for $175) and I'm looking forward to using this classic Nikon. I strongly prefer dials and buttons to clunky digital interfaces, and it's nice to have a great film camera that will never really go obsolete like my D5000 already has.

  • @ThatOtherTom Enjoy!

  • haha look at the state of the job somebody's made of replacing the foam for the mirror buffer..I am supprised nobody has noticed it..Cheapskates there only £3 to replace,,

  • now im really missing the f3 lol at least the fe dident have the hotshoe over the knob and another thing i like better about the f3 is if your battery ran out you could still take pics and it had a multible exposer switch o the good old days lol ya right

  • I love my FE

  • love the fe. the only thing i have trouble with is i wear thick glasses, and the f3hp's viewfinder is way better for me, but once you get used to the fe finder, it's totally fine. not ideal, but fine. otherwise, my go to camera!

  • at the beginning i'm pretty sure you say "this is a nikon f3." i think you just misspoke.

i agree with you. this (the nikon fe) is one of the most no-nonsense, gimmickless cameras ever made. thanks for the review. good stuff. solid!

  • @jumpramp1 haha - you are right! Total slip of the tongue - it would be hard to confuse an F3 and FE!

You shoot with an FE too? They are beautiful units huh?

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
