Channels 2 & 3 are identical. I like to set one on the intense mode & the other on the thick mode. Adjusting your guitar's volume allows you to play lead or rhythm on either channel. It's very intuitive to use. The EQX merely extends the range of the tone controls.
Hey tone king thankx for namm coverage ,Will u demo the new kramer 84 baretta or should i say buy a 84 baretta and demo.I really wanna buy the carvin v3m head and 212 carvin cab with v30's, but hows the gain in real life.
hey tone king love what you do ....could do some droped tuning on this channel ...or maybe do a shoot out with this carvin v3m and the vox night train 50 watt head......
What cab are you running thru? Any chance you can demo the carvin 212 cab w the v3m. Preferably, a/b the stock speakers against the vintage celestions? Would like to get the v3m but can't decide which cab to go with
Please tell me that Carvin had thought of enabling EQX through footswitch and that we don't have to approach the V3M and flick the toggle manually every time we need a higher density of mids in the mix...
@Daemonfury1 the v3 is carvin's flagship metal amp. The v3m is just a 50 watt version. So 100w will have more headroom and have more lower mids. Where are 50w will saturate more because you can turn it up more. 50watts is plenty. even for larger gigs. So yeah this thing is good for metal, the guys from Suicide Silence are using them.
I use this channel for Rock and Roll. AC/DC and Airbourne mostly. Drive down, presence, mids up all the way, treble at 7, bass at 5 and the eqx is on.

Too much time on one eq setting. Move those knobs Tone King.

Sounds like a retube with some lower-gain non-sovteks would make this sing.

my buddie has one of these. Sounds like an nest of angry bees.
He's sending it back.

Tone King, you do a MUCH better job of showing what this amp can do vs. Carvin's videos.

Carvin says channels 1 & 2 are exactly the same. Do you find them to be differently voiced?

I'm thinking about buying this head because its small, and has several output choices. However, I play metal, can this handle metal, and well?

How about some clean sounds? Maybe an effect in the loop?

@smoss469

Is the EQX a sort of mid scoop? As good as it may sound, would it cut through?
IAMTHEBAGELMONSTER 9 months ago
@IAMTHEBAGELMONSTER It's either normal or boost. No cut.
