  • Why do people respond to each others responses , instead of logically responding to the video?

Think about and then key-stroke responses about my response? No don't, I'm just kidding around with you folks; that I'm now replicating, Shit....I need to find a way out of this distracting muck...

  • Daniel is a genius of an actor, of whom you have never met, and never will meet; but seem to have hatched an almost God-like affinity toward. Therefore, Day-Lewis juxtaposed with God, exists the same in the mind of the diluted observer. The mind is a funny thing when it creates made-up relationships to characters they never even come to know: actors, musicians, God? Whom of you will sit in the same room with Daniels talents and/or God for that matter, at some point in your lives?

  • The greatest actor of our time.

  • "Do you accept Jesus christ as you're savior!?!?" "Yes I do."

  • @Zachleejumper No we don't

  • This movie is so fucking good. Remember when the actor who played Henry was in Deep Rising haha

  • @MsBlackPina I agree.

  • I feel you on that one buddy

  • I am a sinner! I've abandon my child!

  • The priest is a litttle bitch

  • I'll give you the reason why he won the Oscar. He DRANK their MILKSHAKE.

  • @inkwarp, I think he told him "I'm going to eat you" remember in the final scene he said "I told you I would eat you".

  • Hahahahahaha amazing

  • My absolute favorite actor. He was awesome in Gangs of NY

  • The rage and anxiety he feels is what I feel inside against religious people, every time I hear them preach to me I feel it deep down and want to go berserk and shake them off me like a clinging flea

  • I really can't wait for him to play Lincoln

  • There's only ONE reason Daniel Day-Lewis won the oscar and that's because he's awesome

  • This kid playing the preacher should have won too. What a great job.

  • He scares the fuck out of me, he's such a great actor.

  • 4:56 If anyone ever gave me that look, even as an actor, I would probably die of freight. A simply incredible performance by Daniel Day Lewis in this film.

  • @ubernaffa agreed, but I have to say: "died of freight" hahaha

  • @furQ Yes, if I saw that look, some freight would drop down on my head and kill me. :p /Idiot.

  • Kids these days. They are not impressed by trueness but fake wack acts. Go watch MTV

    Toys.

  • @inkwarp whatever it is it wasn't "thank you" lol

  • "I've abandoned my child!"....that still gives me goosebumps. I love the looks of hatred on his face.

  • DDL is the MOST brilliant actor of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

  • This film is the Citizen Kane of its time. Brilliant cinema. Brilliant.

  • hahah I love the change in Paul Dano's face after Daniel shakes his hand

  • i have always wanted to know, just what does Daniel say to Eli at the end of this scene. whatever it is, it's scares the shit out of eli... amazing film...

  • that skinny little bastard got his in the end for makin daniel day lewis look like a fool!... no one makes a fool of him and gets away with it haha

  • @thornie123 Daniel Plainview was the Chuck Norris of his day

  • Daniel Day-Lewis is obviously the king, but Paul Dano is really underrated in this movie especially he's awesome

  • christianity is so retarded with all the satan bullcrap and exorcisms and screaming and slapping. no other religion does this

  • @yrtsg Actually, most, if not all, religions contain ample amounts of retarded bullshit.

  • I love how people comment "how much they agree to and have in commons with Mr Plainview's ideology and sentiments". The fact that they come onto youtube to tell everyone, the fact that they probably have 200+ friends on FB, the fact that they couldn't stand spending one hour alone - not using their phone or making some form of human contact... Makes me laugh. Fucking little poseurs.

  • this guy is a master.... one of the best films ever! and jonny greenwoods score is fantastic!

  • THE GREATEST ACTOR EVER, PERIOD! BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE, BEFORE HIM AND AFTER HIM. He is the Pele or the Beatles or Acting.

  • when killling time and food fights pop u gay people will die in the battle...... haha ya this is real life

  • ggggggggggggggggggggaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Sometimes we see a performance more real and more complex than life itself . sweet profession .

  • you forgot the grand finale thats the best scene

  • @kjhnomad7 LOL

  • @alexxxdamasta187 That's over used and offensive to people who believe in God. And grammatically that's incorrect even though I get the humor. It's a stupid thing to say and wreckless using the Lord's name in vain. I'm no extremist, neither do I attend church or pray everyday nor read the Bible but have some respect for those who do. Don't attempt to put the universe in a box. Man will never be close to God. That's it.

  • @MsBlackPina Who gives a fuck if religious people get butthurt, its the internet get used to it.

  • He did all that just so he wouldn't have to pay extra on a pipeline. Greedy bastard! Great movie.

  • There should of been a third reason: DANIEL WILL DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!

  • I abandoned my boy... That line the one sliver of humanity within him

  • @bhcdarkness Totally. Then followed by "give me the blood" which maybe means he's vulnerable/uncomfortable and wants it over with. Further verifies that sliver of humanity.

  • misanthropy is easy as long as there are evangelicals in the world

  • The Baptism scene with Paul Dano still gives me chills. Both of them killed that scene and I hope Paul Dano gets more powerful character roles.

  • @MrCrim123 Dano's performance is even more amazing considering he had only four days to prepare for the role, since he was originally cast to only play Paul Sunday. in comparison, Day-Lewis had a whole year to prepare for his role.

  • no wonder he beat this bible basher to the end

  • 25 people abadoned their child

  • A true picture of a troubled man, a man who has no god, greedy, money driven maniac. A sad movie. Daniel Day Lewis is one of the best actors out there.

  • he should play howard hughes

  • The look of hatred he gives Eli when he makes him say 'I've abandoned my child' the second time was amazing.

  • Imagine if Daniel Day-Lewis played the joker in the Dark Knight... If he nailed the laugh .. wow I could see it now

  • As I read Atlas Shrugged, I envision Henry Rearden as DDL.

  • Such a brilliant portrayal from a truly gifted actor.

  • " There are times when I look at people and I see nothing worth liking. I want to earn enough money that I can get away from everyone." - My life described so perfectly.

  • @ThatKidBrae Did you even see this movie? Daniel earned enough money, got away from everyone and then went insane and bludgeoned a man to death

  • @DevnMC You should not give the Ending away not Cool for people who have not seen it yet

  • @ThatKidBrae

welcome to my world mate :)

  • @ThatKidBrae you're kind of a sad person then

  • @KennyCMusic Or maybe he's sick and tired of working with the public. How old are you? Don't judge people when you don't know them.......

I think a lot of people would share that view. When he says "earn enough money to get away from everyone" he doesn't mean to become a hermit/recluse I think he means to get away from the people he has to deal with daily to make a living.

I don't like dealing with the general public either, but then again I don't "hate most people" like Mr. Plainview either

  • Yes, I do! LOL

  • lmfao it was in his contract to anser to the sinner ? only after that dude asked it twice LOL

  • I DRIINK YOOOOURR MILLKSHAKEE!!!!!!!

  • what an actor

  • 5:59 LOL.

  • Brilliant performance---took me a long time to see the film, but when I did I was blown away----"I have a competiton in me. I want noone else to succeed"

  • HOT PATOOTIE BLESS MY SOUL, I REALLY LOVE THAT ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!

  • simply the greatest actor of all time. . .never fails to send shivers up the spine but at the same time so diverse. . unbelieveable.

  • MOTHER----FUCKER!!!

    ~~Dale

  • You can just tell every actor in the room forgot they were acting at "I'VE ABANDONED MY CHILD!"

  • ">_> Yes I do."

  • I am sorry but the best scene was the last one, that worthed the OSCAR

  • This is one of the best movies ever, and Daniel Day Lewis made it so. I want him one day to play Nickola Tesla... is that weird?

  • @TheMrGebler They won't make that movie. They'll make one about Edison instead.

  • @JefferstChmilst Haha, fantastic response.

  • @TheMrGebler Not weird at all! In fact, I even find a physical resemblance between Tesla and Day-Lewis. He'd be great in that role - esp. when you know how truly "weird" Tesla was. Weird and genius in one.

  • I think Paul Dano should have been nominated for this.

  • @funwithdickandjoe Agreed. The whole 'out ghost' scene was amazing. He's a great actor.

  • @funwithdickandjoe Well we should all be grateful that you weren't voting. Dano was horribly miscast and out of his league when sharing scenes with Daniel Day Lewis.

  • Look for the worst in someone, and know them.

    Wow. Profound.

  • 23 people are backsliders and abandoned their child.

  • Such an incredible actor, I really dont understand how someone can portray a character in such a believable way

  • Bill the butcher was better, but this was a better film

  • "Theres the pipeline" for me that was the one line of the movie that sums up Daniel Plainview, he cares about nothing but himself and finding his oil.

  • 5:58

    LOL!

  • One of the best actors ever! Says I!

  • when he sais i've abandoned my child...you can see his pain..you can feel it...that is just worth watching...

  • He should of won the oscar for gangs of new york

  • @flash3999 i totally agree. Adrien Brody was magnificent in The Pianist but Bill the Butcher, absolutely unforgettable.

  • wathced this my family - not one of them liked it. No problem, I have disowned them.

  • @mrmitchell78 hehe

  • @mrmitchell78 you disowned you family because they didn't like this movie. wow your deserve to be castrated you fagit. i hate fuckers like you. i hope you die for your fucking stupidity. go to hell you cunt ass bitch.

  • @malows1234 i think I love you. Do you have space for one more under your bridge, you giant troll?

  • @malows1234

if your're going to call someone a faggot then learn to at least spell it right

  • @perediam look hunny buns. i meant no offense. i just was sad you lost your family. i wouldn't be able to leave without mine.

  • @malows1234 I. Didn't. Actually. Disown. My. Family.

  • @mrmitchell78 The same fucking thing happend to me. I showed it to my mom and dad they didn't like it. I then showed it to my grandpa who I was sure would love it. He thought it was boring. I don't understand it. I can't quit watching it. I've seen it 50 times. It's a masterpiece. Hands down the best acting performance I've ever seen.

  • @CobainLennon8094 the reason your parents and your grandfather did not enjoy There Will be Blood is because they are probably used to movies designed to entertain in an escape from reality sort of way. This move is both minimalistic, realistic and has a haunting mood. It seems with acting we have come full circle back to immitating reality as opposed to being taken away to another world. One of the greatest films ever though.

  • @mrmitchell78

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH well said....brilliant.... absolutely brilliant comment.... hell I will smash my girlfriends face....

  • @mrmitchell78 Love it lol

  • Just watched this film ( a little late in the day) An immense performance from a brilliant actor.

  • EPIC MOUSTACHE

  • Greatest acting performance EVER.

  • hmmm, the beauty of religion! still I prefer Christianity rather than cult of violence Islam!

  • he look better in mustache

  • 5:48 Yes I do XDDD

  • It's amazing that not only does he transform into a character via speech and demeanor., But his face completely changes as well. The wild eyed crazed look makes him not just act the character, but BE the character.

  • DDL as Lincoln could possibly destroy his career. I hope he pulls out.

  • @RiG0d I DONT,T THINK SO this man could play any role but I SEE YOU ARE an AMERICAN HA so which American actor could play LINCOLN better than him NONE I say you Americans can be very arrogant

  • They might as well give him the Oscar for Lincoln right now.

  • 'Mesmerizing' is the word. When Daniel Day-Lewis is anywhere in the screen I see no one but him. What an amazing personality.

  • WOW

  • so awesome, how paul dano and daniel day-lewis pushed each other in the baptism-scene.

  • "I have a competition in me....I want no one else to succeed."

The way he said that was just haunting.

  • @Dullfang2 half of the things he says in this movie were haunting. He was astonishing in many parts. No one could've created Daniel Plainview accept for Daniel Day-Lewis.

  • @whitewarrior12 Or you know Paul Thomas Anderson.

  • DRAIIIIIINAGE!

  • I'VE ABAAAAANDONED MY CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLD!!!!

  • Stunning, powerful and a compelling film to watch, the director is a genius talent. Daniel Day Lewis is absolutely mesmerising.

  • Day-Lewis is such a brilliant actor, he draws you into his character. There have been great actors like Brando, De Niro , Pacino, Hanks, Paddy Considine et all but I think Day -Lewis is the best actor ever! Brilliant!

  • somewhere in the world right now, a man is walking around and believing he is Abraham Lincoln.

  • @gulo22gulo

man i lik ur thought!!! he has gr8 devotion for his character n role. i read abt his preparations for his role in 'gangs of newyork'.... he is gr8

  • @gulo22gulo Oh my God!! That is so true!!

  • @gulo22gulo why the fucking shit is everyone talking about ABRAHAM LINCOLN. What the fuck does he have to do with There will be Blood. paul thomas anderson is the director.

  • @gulo22gulo I was more happy than ever before when I heard that Daniel Day's next performance will be Abraham mother fucking Lincoln. Who else would one portray after being such men as Bill The Butcher and Daniel Plainview?

  • @gulo22gulo Lol and he will be paid good value to do so where everyone would usually call him nuts

  • @gulo22gulo That comment is so true! I cant wait for the movie Abraham Lincoln to come out. Daniel Day Lewis is my hero when it comes to great acting! He is just one word....AWSOME!!!

  • @gulo22gulo so true

  • @gulo22gulo Is it Gabe from the Office?

  • @gulo22gulo Rogan podcast by night... all day!

  • one of the best acting jobs i've ever seen....in fact...i cant think of anyone who played a role more perfectly

  • @Oreillyisthebest Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man, Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, and Christian Bale in both The Fighter and American Psycho played their roles perfectly too.

  • "Yes I do!"

  • He reminds me of Satan when he says "these people"

  • I'd love to know what Daniel says to Eli at 6:15.

  • @Praetorian1776 He says, "I'll eat you."

He reminds us of this in the final act, the "milkshake" scene.

  • @LVEMEDO

It's not the ending and it gives nothing away. Ass.

  • Loved this film. Mostly because the "preacher" got beat the fuck up. All preachers need to get beat the fuck up. Buncha fuckin' charlatans, liars, and snake oil salesmen.

  • Wow. I haven't seen the movie but Daniel Day Lewis just fills the role exactly right.

    No excess. Just right.

  • orginized religion is the worst thing that ever happend to mankind second to a government. If you disagree you're wrong.

  • I'll give you one reason why he won: There Will Be Blood

  • Yeah but he got the Flynn's thumb down.

  • You do know you're one damn fine actor, don't you Daniel Day-Lewis? [5:49]

And how would you react to those foolish detractors who claim this role is simply hamhanded overacting? [7:00]

And you, Mr. Dano, what would you say these detractors? [5:37]

  • @thatbigblackguy Hahaha epic comment is epic.

  • @ 4:56 is probably the most powerful look I've ever seen in a movie. So much meaning, pain and rage and frustration into it. And the "I've abandoned my child!" nearly brings me to tears.

Daniel Day-Lewis took acting to new heights with this performance, I can't even praise it enough.

  • Comment removed

  • Idk i think it looks like he is always playin the same character....

  • @eddiereyes1988 Because of the mustache probably.

  • @ThatGuy252 Which he had in only two movies as far as I know and the characters, though both somewhat evil, are depicted completely differently.

  • @DuncanHennessy If you watch more of his movies he brings a certain element of noticeable style along with something completely unique to that character. He's terrific. I can't wait until he plays Abraham Lincoln.

  • @ThatGuy252 I've watched MOST of his movies, and no, I don't see a any resemblance between his characters in The Crucible and his character in The Ballad of Jack and Rose and My Left Foot and The Boxer and In The Name of the Father and stuff like that. He's incredibly broad and diverse.

  • @DuncanHennessy I'm not arguing with you. I know he's a great actor.

  • Greatest living actor bar none. No question. In The Name Of The Father, My Left Foot, There Will be Blood, Gangs Of New York....superb.

  • @biopsychosocio Basically in my opinion he is one of the 3 greatest actors still alive with the other 2 being Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson. They all have a pure actor's face and the expressions they can take are just UNREAL.I hoped Edward Norton would have risen to their level by now cos this man has enormous potential but so far i'm disappointed by his movie choices after the 25th hour!So those are the top 3!Al Pacino is no4(just a tiny scale lower than the 3 best) and then Crowe,Penn so on

  • @TheKostarone Penn is a good actor mistake me not but what bothers me about his movie roles is that he always goes for the super dramatic ones; it seems to be his comfort zone and of course he excels in it but I'd like for him to surprise us once in a while, go for say a villain or an anti-hero. He definitely has the talent to do it, that's unquestioned, but I'd like for him to reach into it. Explore more character genres.

  • @TheKostarone Yep, all supremely talented actors.

  • I'm watching the last of the mohicans rn...

  • Probably the best acting I've ever seen.

  • @dedricthere You're absolutely right

  • The whole movie is the reason he won the oscar. He stayed in complete character throughout the entire film.

  • socialism is gay

  • yes i do.

  • Daniel as Lincoln will be his third Oscar.

  • @AQuestionOrSomethin4 Daniel Day Lewis as James Bond...LOL...James put down the milkshake!!!!
