although most car manufacturers say you dont need to do that anymore, i think you are right. driving too offensive before getting some thousand km done is the best way to break you engine (maybe besides getting a cold engine do the 7000 rpms.

The quality of the Golf R is certainly equal to the Scirocco, as said, the Golf is faster, too.

The design of the Scirocco is more extravagant but you have to like it.

Well I'm sure the Golf R has as well as the Scirocco a fine stock chassis suspension, the Golf is a bit lighter I think and it has slightly more HP. The centre of the Scirocco's mass lies lower than in the Golf, so it might feel more like a sports car, and it looks more like one, too.

The great advantage of the Golf is it's four-wheel drive, the Scirocco is only front-wheel...

@YesIAmThatCoolBitch The Golf R is a bit faster acceleratong from stanstill than Scirocco R thanks to the Haldex AWD system, and thus has better traction, specially in the wet, but in the dry the Scirocco R ended up being a bit faster round tracks, at least in the tests I have seen, it is more agile and with harder suspoension, and being only FWD, it is also around 100 kg lighter than the Golf R. They have different philosophy, Scirocco R more hot-hatch, Golf R more like a GT, said by VW.

But I don't care, the difference in the sprint 0-100 are just a few .1 secs, both cars are really fast (for Volkswagens :D) and I would love to own one of them!

@YesIAmThatCoolBitch A Haldex system is just an all-wheel drive system (4x4) that normally only drives the front wheels, but when extra traction is needed, this is, whel slippage is detected in the front wheels, engages a clutch that dirves some force (up to a 40%, I think) to the rear wheels. The force driven to the rear wheels is not always the same, just the needed to help the front tyres to gain traction again. This has the advantage of reduced friction and fuel compsumption Vs permanent 4x4
