    I may have already answered my question: It would not be okay to have W2 = [3 0 c 10] right? Because W2 has to strictly satisfy the elements in W1 correct?

    W2 has to strictly contain "1" in column 1, "0" in column 2, "any variable" in column 3, and "0" in column 4? i.e W2 can exist as [1 0 a 0], [1 0 b 0], [1 0 c5 0]?

  • @kenikozo W2 is a subset of R4. You are free to get any subset of R4 but you are not sure if that subset will be a subspace. I hope that answered your question.
