This was a year before I was born. I love the sound of the random voices of New York kids in the crowd. Can imagine how high/drunk/just plain elated various people in the crowd were ! Thank you for posting. A moment in time !
I saw the Who open for the Doors on 8/2/68. The WHo smashed their instruments during "My Generation" and after the Doors set there was a riot. An amazing night! I didn't go to this show, but I remember it well as I had friends that went and raved about it. A guy there was also stabbed to death by some azzhole. Rock and Roll be krazee!
That's funny, that was the first cncert I wentr also!!! hehehe It stands as the one which all others must measure up to! (Philly in 1973 comes in second!!) Cheers to the poster. Thanks!
Sat in one of the top rows at Forest Hills outdoor tennis stadium (not a usual venue in those days...in the middle of the Queens neighborhood by the LI Railroad station). Night concert...The only time I ever saw the Who and they were unbelivable! Even more unbelievable is that this long distant memory is suddenly heard again after 37 years! Wow!Thx for posting!
Wow, this is top 4 on my all time favourite Who gigs. Getting to hear people like you, that have been there, is one reason I fuckin love the internet!

bopalena - it was also that show (I believe at the Singer Bowl) that inspired the Who song "Sally Simpson" -

That's right. Sally Simpson was dedicated to a young girl who was hurt ruffianly by a marshal at this concert by the Doors.
